If that's the case, I'd leave everything as is and just tape the window to the door until you have the time and tools. Don't ever rush a project.

Sorry for the delay. Missed this in my email. I don't think it's absolutely necessary but if you needed access for any reason, you'd have to remove it. It also doesn't hurt to take it out to prevent any damage.

@nlz242 Good question as the video doesn't explain that. I do mention that it is tempered glass, and that stuff can take a beating before it breaks. That said, at your own risk, of course, you can use a flat head screwdriver with some duct tape over the head so as not to scratch the window and cause potential cracks. You really just need to pry under the glass to relieve at least the side of the clip facing you, and you can do one at a time. Sounds risky, but it worked. Another idea is to use a hacksaw blade (or a dremel if you can reach it) and just cut the tabs below the window. You can retrieve the cut pieces later, and it's all being replaced anyway... Maybe you can comment on what you used when you give it a go to help others. It was pretty easy. Just be patient. Good luck!

@@EhnPeeDee Alright. Will report back. I ordered a repair kit from "Bross", they sell the plastic pulleys + the cable, which from what i can gather are the parts that are failing most of the time. I'll post here with my experience, once I receive them. Local Audi dealers wants $400 (canadian) for the whole assembly and the repair kit is $10. Worth a try, if it's bad i'll find a used regulator online... $400 for that part is outrageous.

@nlz242 I wonder if US companies ship? I paid $190 USD after taxes and shipping. But yeah, I'd go the route you're taking to see if you can do it for much less. Again, good luck and keep us posted.

@@EhnPeeDee just installed the kit from Bross auto parts. I was able to unclip the window using my fingers, wasn't too bad. The repair kit wasn't so easy to install, took me a good 45 minutes to figure it out, once installed it works great. Cost me $40 CAD for two kits shipped. Figured if one broke the other one is probably going to go soon
