Dick Allen didn't take a pitch an inch high with 2 men on base to get a walk. He knew his job was to drive in runs unlike Frank Thomas. Big Frank's batting avg could have been higher but every they made him DH due to his horrible defense he'd go 3 for 31 until he got put back at 1st base. Sox 2nd best all-around player since 70 just might be The 1-Dog.

Great memories @ the old comiskey

My 1st baseball game 1970 whitesox @ Comiskey park, bat day ,I was living 3 blocks from Wrigley field, but 1st game was Sox loved both teams.

we left early too.......double headers in those days went on forever ......Allen saved the franchise , make no mistake about it

A winning record and Dick Allen's arrival brought fans to the ballpark in 1972.

Dick Allen gives GOD the glory for the talent he had, Amen! And he didn't wear batting gloves.

Seems like a Ballpark I wished I could have been to. I have been to the new Comiskey Ballpark .

That was actually the first year for Harry Caray in Chicago. Also, the White Sox actually had the second best record in the American League that year, but because they chose to remain in the Western Division when the Washington Senators moved to Arlington, TX to become the Texas Rangers (the Milwaukee Brewers made the switch instead), they lost out on the post-season. One last observation, two years earlier, the team lost a then franchise-record 106 games, which might give fans a glimmer of hope in this disastrous season.

The editing is top notch. When the players talk about a certain at bat or pitch sequence, the video footage is there.

Dick Allen belongs in the HOF.

Grew up a Sox fan and caught for much of my little league baseball career because I liked suiting up in all the gear, even on the hottest of summer days. Pudge was my guy.

Three times the White Sox were close to leaving Chicago, and all three somebody kept them in Chi.

I don't blame them for having too much security. Between the riot that happened at the end of the last game at Forbes Field in 1970 and what happened on Disco Demolition Night in 1979, they didn't want to take the chance. You just don't know. Better to be too safe rather than not safe enough.

Our White Sox need another Dick Allen (or three) right now.

I went to my first Sox game during the last season at Comiskey. Beat Indians 3-1. Fisk hit a home run. I’ll never forget it

Shoeless joe jackson played in that thing, the 1918 world series between the Cubs and Red Sox was played there so Babe Ruth pitched in the world series in that thing.

dude fkn rules. saw 10 foot pole 2-3 times in the early to mid 90s. saw Pulley only once.

Northside native and Cubs fan here, this documentary was excellent. I went to 1 game at old Comiskey in 1990, my friends parents took us on the redline from the Jarvis stop all the way to 35th.

Tom Shaer is sooo underrated. Tom has great stories and a funny guy. These Last Comiskey events are fun.

Chicago had a better record than Detroit in 1972 (which was cut short by eight games due to a strike) If Milwaukee had been in the West vs. Chicago (the Brewers are slightly further West) and all else was the same well...

As a Cubs fan, it's a cliche, but it's true: You never know what you truly have until you lose it!

Me and some friends were at opening day Wrigley Field 1969 and we left the game before Willie Smith hit the game winning home run. Bad decision!

Is this a series on this channel?? I hope it's a series on this channel I could watch these for HOURS!! (Sidenote, what if there was a second channel for '90s comiskey' (which is no longer new, and thats wonderful cuz a generation or so have grown up with that as their park. )

my favorite white sox teams, wilbur wood, dick allen, bill melton, tommy john, joel horlen, carlos may... i'll never forget the first game i saw with dick allen, we were early and i went down to the front row seats to watch the white sox warmup, and up the dugout steps comes dick allen, in uniform, wearing his red batting helmet, those awesome red pinstripes... he stops at the top step, surveys the field... and he's smoking a cigarette, it was at this moment i knew dick allen did pretty much what he wanted.

Note*** I went to the New Park twice..not the same feel. My memories are larger and more exciting from the old park. 77 hit men anyone?

I also wanna say thx for the memories of great a baseball time. It was so well documented and touched with the feeling of the time!
