Turtle Beach | EAST ARNHEM LAND CAMPING
One Friday afternoon, we packed up the colly and headed 40 minutes out of town to Turtle Beach. We were pretty delighted to find that we had the whole place to ourselves. There are only two campsites here, but because we visited in early October, there were limited tourists around.
This spot has to be up there with one of our favourite places to camp! It is super picturesque, and the view of the sunrise in the morning is certainly worth the early alarm. We laid out on the beach at night and stargazed. The magic around us was surreal. This is such a special spot, and we highly recommend that you include it on your East Arnhem Land itinerary. If you're visiting in the dry season (June to August), make sure you're booking your camping at 5-6 months in advance! These spots don't stay available for long.
The benefit of this spot is that it is located only a short drive from Little Bondi Beach and Macassan Beach. So you could make this trip a good few days by exploring around the area. There's also a walking track linking all three beaches - something we plan to do in the cooler months!
For camping permits, head to Dhimurru (www.dhimurru.com.au/). You will need your Dhimurru Access Permit organised before booking your camping. We're happy to answer any questions you have if you're looking to visit!
As always, thank you for your support. It means a lot! Further ways you can support us include:

We moved to East Arnhem Land!
Переглядів 20 тис.9 місяців тому
Life update: We moved! We said goodbye to beautiful Darwin and headed to the very remote Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem Land. This was a very last minute and unexpected life change, however we do love to live a spontaneous life! We made the move in early September this year. We drove ourselves, our trusty colorado, our boat, a boat load of belongings and two house plants 1042 kilometres over two days...

Strap on in and get ready to come along on adventure with us to Cascades and Wangi Falls in Litchfield National Park in the Northern Territory. We take you to our newest favourite swimming hole that is less known about, and also to one of Litchfield's most iconic waterfalls. Mon has a run in with a slithery friend, and Greg finds his inner child while sitting under a waterfall. We absolutely LO...
Mica Beach, Darwin Harbour and Croc Spotting!
Переглядів 251Рік тому
The weather in Darwin had been absolutely stunning, so we decided to hit the water nice and early one morning to explore. We had heard of a beautiful little spot called Mica Beach, so we headed here first and cooked ourselves a delicious breakfast. Following this, we explored more of the coastline, flicked a few lures (caught no fish, which is not surprising), and witnessed a crocodile being tr...
Mataranka and Katherine | A LONG WEEKEND EXPLORING

One of our favourite trips to date! We headed off one Friday afternoon and drove 4.5 hours down to Mataranka, where we set up camp at Bitter Springs Cabins and Camping (a 5 minute walk to Bitter Springs swimming hole). We based ourselves here for two nights, and explored Cutta Cutta Caves, Nitmiluk Gorge and National Park, Mataranka Thermal Pools and surrounding areas. We were honestly blown aw...

4 Days in Kununurra | The Kimberley Australia
Переглядів 3162 роки тому
As always, the Easter long weekend was fast approaching without us having a plan. We wanted to make the most of our four days off, and it was when our mates suggested Kununurra, that we jumped at the idea. Although Kununurra is around an 8.5 hour drive from Darwin, it was 1000% worth the hike for the weekend. This region of Australia is nothing short of magical! It gave us a taste of the Kimber...
Corroboree Billabong - MASSIVE CROCS, birds, and Monika's first NT fish!
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 роки тому
WOW. What a spot! Our friends invited us on an early morning adventure to Corroboree Billabong, located only 90 minutes south east of Darwin. We instantly fell in love with these wetlands. They are FULL of life. Birds, crocs, fish... you name it. Will Greg catch his first NT Barra? One thing that definitely surprised us was the amount of birdlife out here. It is a bird lovers heaven. Join us as...
LIFE UPDATE: We moved to Darwin! - The story behind our decision
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
We know this is a little late, but better late than never right?! In January 2022, we arrived in Darwin - our new home. People always ask us why we decided to move or what was our reason? Not surprisingly, 99% of people assume it was for work reasons... well we can confirm that's a straight up NO! :) We simply wanted to try something new. We loved our life in Far North Queensland, but we also k...
COOKTOWN | Easter 2021 ROAD TRIP | Part 3

Cooktown is definitely one underrated little coastal town in Far North Queensland! We spent our last night of the trip here, and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is so much history to learn about and multiple hidden gems like Trevathan Falls. Oh, and the fish and chips are pretty good too. We hope you guys enjoy! ELIM BEACH | Easter 2021 ROAD TRIP | Part 2
Переглядів 3793 роки тому
One of the most epic campgrounds in Far North Queensland. Eddies Camp at Elim Beach took us by surprise. There is so much to do here, including spending countless hours exploring the long stretch of beach and the Coloured Sands. We stayed a night here whilst on our 4-day Easter road trip, after visiting Cape Tribulation and Wujal Wujal Falls. Our only regret is that we did not have longer here!...
CAPE TRIBULATION & WUJAL WUJAL FALLS | Easter 2021 ROAD TRIP | Part 1
Переглядів 2823 роки тому
It's not often we get a 4-day long weekend, so in this case, we hit the road for an epic road trip north of Cairns! To start our road trip off with a bang, we stopped in at Cape Tribulation for a night. Although the weather wasn't ideal, we really cannot recommend this spot enough! It was beautiful. We stayed at Cape Trib Camping, the best camp spot around (in our humble opinion). Check them ou...
Hot Air Ballooning over Mareeba | ATHERTON TABLELANDS
Переглядів 6243 роки тому
After waking up at 4am (the earliest we'd both woke up in a VERY long time), we set off on a pretty epic adventure. To see the Atherton Tablelands from above, in such a quiet and peaceful way, was something else! We are confident now that there is definitely no experience that compares to floating in the sky while watching the sunrise. If you are visiting Far North Queensland and looking for an...

Hey how are you going? I was born in Nhulunbuy in the 70's. My parents were proper bushies and we travelled all over Arnhem Land when I was a kid. Malcolm Douglas apparantly came to my christening haha. I live in the UK now so pretty different hey. The road you guys travelled on used to be 2 wheel ruts through the bush in the 70's with proper river crossings that were quite dodgey (salties etc). Sometimes, depending on season, it could take 6-7 days winching through the mud to get along that road - you guys did it in just a day and a half? Anyays, it was lovely to watch your video and hope you're doing well! PS. We lived in one of these houses on Wallaby Beach maps.app.goo.gl/X4FZpMLkT9spNr256

Nice vid. Things have definitely changed since I was there between 83-87. Back then the drive in/out was 3-4 days and only by high clearance 4WD for 3 months of the year. Your only other options were fly or the barge to Darwin (freight only). Back then the TV content was 3 days behind too - tapes sent from Darwin. It was a freaking awesome place then, hope it still is. Expensive though.

Awesome Vid Guys and lovely place out there, I towed my 5m up from Noosa QLD to Nhulunbuy in April this year the road was Ok but last 200ks was wet as they had 360mm of rain two days before i got there. I stayed with my mate Nathan hes lived there for years, so it was a great couple weeks he took and showed some cracking spots and we caught some lovely fish.

Waterfront lagoon and the wave pool. Heaps of public pools, some of the most picturesque on the cliffs above the ocean at Nightcliff. Lake Alexander is easy access from town. Also lots of swimming holes that are croc free and patrolled. Some of the beaches in the Northern Suburbs are patrolled, but of late there have been big crocs around.. also box jellyfish keep you out of the water in the wet.
