The character you choose will be the route for the entire story, with his Card that is stronger than most of the other cards, his chat messages (they affect your affinity with him) until the epilogue of Season 1 (Prologue until Episode 9/?). The chapters of the main story is already scripted like a manga/webcomic but they are also linked to the Campus side-stories (chibi characters' dialogue and chat messages). Also, it's a theory I have but without giving too much spoilers, the Prologue is linked to the Episode 4 (Obscuary) and reveals some of the mysteries from the beginning if the main story, hence why Taiga is in the profile pic and Prologue of the game. Plus, I think the choice you made between the three ones can affect the end of the Season 1. The devs are currently making the end if Season 1 and preparing for Season 2. I hope I explained it clearly for you and that you're enjoying the game and the characters. Don't stress out too much because the developers will make the game less horrific, due to some players having phasmophobia (like Kaito), so it will be more of a romance story in the end (spoiler: SSR cards with a wedding ceremony), like most of joseimuke games (not otome game). 😊
