John 3:36 says, "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son SHALL NOT SEE LIFE, but the wrath of God abides on him.” NOTICE it does NOT say, "He will EVENTUALLY see eternal life AFTER the Lake of Fire. Who do we believe, God and His Word who says "He who does not Believe in the Son will NOT see life, or Universalists who say, "That's NOT TRUE. EVERYONE will be saved." "Trusting in their own works" is not much of a problem. It may be possible, but the opposite - what you do doesn't matter, all that matters is what you believe - is much worse, and clearly condemned on like, every page of the bible. So no, "I never knew you" has nothing to do with "trusting in their own works".

I went to a Baptist Bible college in the 1990s. They were cessationists. There was a freshman one year from West Virginia. One day in chapel, this guest preacher made a joke about West Virginia, talking about Mark 16 and how no one handled snakes anymore "except maybe some people in West Virginia." This student was very upset and spoke the preacher afterwords. "WE DON'T HANDLE SNAKES!!" A good friend of mine, who was also a prankster, prank called this student a few days later and asked him over and over in an Appalachian accent "Ya got any snakes? Ya got any snakes?" Oh no, I laughed so hard. I probably shouldn't have, and it probably wasn't good Christian behavior. But I never forgot that.

maybe the passage in Matthew 25 is just a reminder that we are all goats, to stir up our conscience: Jesus saying you have to be that humble and that good to get eternal life, and if you did not do that you are evil, deserving eternal punishment. Now we know that no one is that good, so EVERYONE is a goat. And he told this parable in order to stir up our conscience, so we leave every bit of self confidence and only trust in him. On this way, we realize how good God is: we are all goats, but God only perceives us as sheep gone astray. And He laid upon Jesus the iniquity of all. We are all tares, we are all goats. GOD BE THANKED he saved us all!!!

Believe what you want. I do NOT see in scripture where everyone will be saved. You are denying the absolute necessity of coming to Jesus, by saying you can live your entire life denying God's only plan for salvation: Christ dying on the cross, and then you will be rehabilitated in the Lake of Fire. The bible says, "It is appointed unto man, once to die and then rehabilitation? NO! Once to die and then JUDGMENT. You will convince many that they can live their lives anyway they want, and still be saved. Are you gay? Don't worry, you WILL be saved. Are you an adulterer? Don't worry you will be saved. Are you and atheist? No problem. A little bit of time (maybe trillions of centuries) in the Lake of Fire Rehabilitation Experience and you will be ready for Heaven. Can't you see this is exactly what Satan wants us to believe: reject Christ in this life, but don't worry, you WILL STILL BE SAVED. This is as evil as any doctrine on earth. It says, "You don't need to come to Christ now, even though 2Corinthians 6:2 says, "TODAY is the day of salvation."

Yes we should stop arguing what a good Christian man we should action, live, become as, and be one as it is already written, all I should say is we should read our bibles and also pray. You must know not all humans should be saved cause they logically can’t by three free will, regardless of christs love. Some will emotionally fall head over heels for the true caring love in us Christian’s of any group Protestant, Catholic, orthodox, and actually live, in some sense I do tremble cause of God the fathers, and god the sons might, you do not is not to me, but I do, cause of the sin I’ve caused, a pedophile or prostitution should feel great condemnation I believe, as most secular, and Christian society believes, humanity by large condemns, stones these evils, who harm children, but when Jesus Christ is not practiced we are all doomed to hell, here on earth, in my room, and in literal hell in earth. God have mercy on all of us. And may Christ take off the stupidity spiritual willing blindness which keeps us from heaven, reading gods word, the holy bible, of all touches, to all ethcnities, and woman, man following Jesus Christ so we do not go to hell. Actually following christs moral teachings, commandments. Amen

Forever does not always mean "without end" in biblical usage, Sometimes forever means "as long as conditions exist. Also, eternal means there is no beginning and no end. The Bible says hell was created showing it has a beginning then it says the lake of fire shall swallow up hell showing it has an end so therefore it doesn't pass the eternal requirements. Then it reads eternal death yes if I erased you you would be erased for all eternity and be no more. So eternal death just means that no more living or being in existence for eternity. God created us and gives us a choice of life or death to exist or not to exist. But I know people think God doesn't give us that choice and that's ok if people want to think that but I don't and I also believe the scripture backs this up. But either way, let's just not find out the hard way. Take care

why is party and drinking often regarded as a "terrible sin"? Jesus himself drank with sinners, he even made wine so that the wedding party could go on. Whats with adultery, fornication, sins of the tongue, filthiness, murder, hating people,... these are the real sins! I have no bad conscience at all when I party and drink with people I love. of course drunkennesse is no good, and wild partying, but nothing against partying and drinking in moderation.

My congregation does more contemporary music however but the liturgy aside from that is completely traditional. We have 3 readings every Sunday and many prayers. We have confession of sins in a moment of silence and a prayer of confession. God forgives our sins and we are cleansed and gifted Gods grace so we can go out and live in Gods grace. The main problem here is that Christians get so bogged down by the little details and the bigger picture is lost (i.e. living your life to the fullest). It doesn't make any sense for large institutions that preach the same Gospel (various denominations) to have very minor ideological differences that are APPAENTLY so bad that it negates everything else good or "holy" they do and believe in. Nobody can solidify facts about Jesus or the Bible because none of it make sense or uses logic to begin with! Y'all use emotion to justify your beliefs when it's obvious that the universe is too large, unknowable and abstract and human desire is minuscule. You're just going to die, your body will decay and that's it.

You cannot read Matthew 25 or Revelation and not know that some will be saved and some will be damned. Additionally, II Thess. 1:6-9 and I John 5:13-16 and Ezekiel 33. Each of those speak of sin that leads to damnation, so to make a claim that everyone will eventually find a path to salvation is an heretical teaching.

I guess I need your definition of Universalism. Yes, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. And yes, God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to eternal light. But we also profess that you have to come to faith in Christ, as Christ said and did only the things He saw His Father saying and doing, so we, as disciples of Christ are to follow that same example. You don't come to a knowledge or faith in Christ as a Hindu or Muslim, or B'Hai - even though those may have elements of truth in them. So Univeralism in that context is not a valid Christian doctrine, but would be heresy.

Then how did the Rich Man, of the Rich Man and Lazarus, end up in Hell? Are we to assume it was because he was a bad person and Lazarus went to Heaven because he was good? Because that directly negates Christ's sacrifice, and his message that there are no good people as we all sin. It was their faith in him specifically, not just faith in a higher power in general. Also not to be rude, but simply stating that St. Gregory believed something is not a solid argument as it appeals to authority. And it is in and of itself not even factually correct as he was not a Universalist.

As a Calvinsticly oriented Christian Universalist I have to agree to disagree with you that "all children are born saved." I do agree with you it's problematic to say babies go to hell. I solve this problem 3 ways: 1. some babies have a proto-faith that is saving, 2. It's possible God saves all babies just out of His Love, 3. What if babies are reincarnated souls? I realize the 3rd is controversial but I see nothing in the Bible to contradict this. I honestly don't believe this life is my first time around. Maybe I'm in hell (gehenna) right now.
