Scale Trains Surprise and Open House Haul
Nice show pickups…gotta couple of those Class I flats myself from Amherst…and those trash cars/loads…some really nice cars..thanks for sharing…
@@georgiasunbelt very much appreciated. Yeah those Class 1 Modelworks cars are so nice.
The puddles look great - very nice job! Nothing like water to bring a layout to life. Love the background. Best, John
@@SchuylkillRiverValley thank you very much John. Much appreciated for the compliment.
Nice and simple way to make puddles. And that background looks fantastic! What color are you going to paint the fascia?
@@thecnwmondovilinepaulscota7304 much appreciated. I am going with black. I like the way it makes the layout pop.
Looks really good!
@@KandWRailroader thank you so much
I love that back ground!!!!
@@XBOXShawn12thman thank you very much
Awesome pickups!
1:45 I actually like the tufts of grass but I don't think the arrangement is very good. They're very evenly spaced, and almost all of them are either right at the front, right at the back, or right in the middle.
Well, that was an expensive comment. I was going to question Class 1's business model, in that up to now, they've only produced specialty cars of the kind that most modelers don't need, and anyone else would probably only buy one or two of. But I went over to their website to check my facts, and now I'm down £160 for a pre-order of three ARI 5200cuft grain hoppers. That kind of car makes much more commercial sense to me -- you can easily see people buying ten of them and then coming back for more.
@@beeble2003 🤣 I totally understand. Yeah they are super nice cars. The money still hurts leaving the wallet.
Glad you were able to make it to the RPM and you had a good experience. The modelers are what the show is about and there's always an impressive display. This was my 8th consecutive show, and it never disappoints. OVR and Aurora Miniatures are some good people and have great products, I have several of their models. I saw the ClassOneModelsWorks covered hoppers and had to pre-order some. Looks like you made some pretty good purchases, no buyers remorse here! Thumbs Up and Subscribed. Thanks, Terry
@@PennCentral99 much appreciated for the comment and subscribing. I return the favor. Yes, the RPM show is fantastic and I will definitely be back next year. Hope to see you there next year.
Nice work you’re doing…subbed
@@georgiasunbelt very much appreciated
I like the second layout more character to this layout.
Great shopping haul 😁
It was a good day for sure.
Just came across your channel. Looks like a fun project to follow, so I subscribed. Good idea with the real dirt, I also did that with my German layout, but not yet with my new U.S. style switching layout.
thanks so much for subscribing. I returned the favor. Happy modeling!
@@montananorthern many thanks!

No layout can have too many Shays!!! Great job!
We are glad you like the cars!
@@ovrtrains2003 love them
Just subscribed! I moved to Murfreesboro a year ago and I am always happy to know of other modelers in the area. I joined the club in Bell Buckle but it is really cool to see your progress on your home layout. I can't wait to see more!
@@christophernorman684 much appreciated and welcome to the area. That's a good club. I actually started that club years ago in Smyrna with Roger.
@@montananorthern Really!? That's awesome! Are you still apart of the club?
@@christophernorman684 no I am not. I still talk to Roger but I am concentrating on my new layout.
@@montananorthern I understand. Well I look forward to your progress and how I can learn and adopt it for my shelf layout
Glad to have had you over! 👍🏻 Anytime in St Louis please stop by!
@@stevegoaring7470 thank you very much for the invite. Also thanks again for the hospitality and especially the stickers. You have a beautiful layout.
Okay, I checked out a couple of videos and I’m in for the build. I subscribed, number 190, and I look forward to your progress.
Nice size building, Thomas. Good to see you getting back into the hobby.
Incredible details on those tankers and the GP30. You did a great job on the building.
@@derekalexander4030 thank you very much
I got out of the hobby years ago also and am just starting again. I did worse than you though. You sold your stuff, I gave mine away so I know how you feel. Things are definitely more expensive now. I am going DCC for the first time too.
@@derekalexander4030 it definitely hurt knowing I had to start all over. 😩
Nice layouts. Thanks for taking us along.
@@derekalexander4030 thank you so much for watching
Great-looking layout. You can also use tile grout for realistic dirt, and it comes in a range of colors.
@@JohnPingley I'm actually going to try that tomorrow.
@@montananorthern can't wait to see the result!
Glad I ran across your channel yesterday, subbed. Enjoyed the videos and look forward to future ones!
@@schadowolf much appreciated. Thank you for subscribing as well. A lot of good content coming soon.

Great job Thomas. I like the use of the grout. Gives it a nice texture.
@@SeaboardCentral Much appreciated Tim.
Can you do sum how 2 videos like on the static grass, and toning down the scenics you were talking about?
Absolutely, they will be coming soon. Thanks so much for watching.
@@montananorthern thankyou very much
@@montananorthern oh and your welcm
Check miniprints for bears and seeing how you have round bales and big squares, an interesting detail might be a truckload of hay. I know a lot of ranchers up there use both kinds, but you’ll see a lot of alfalfa hay farmers making big squares to sell so a lot of tricked out long hood petes and K-whoppers with 48’ trailers hauling hay.
I had not heard of the Woodland Scenics track painting pens before... I must've missed those last weekend. Oh well, guess I have to go back now...😁
I am always looking for a reason to go back 😂
Just found your channel...looking forward to following the progress. Great backdrop! I always liked the Montana Rail Link paint scheme.
Thank you so much for the kind words and subscribing. I am a big fan of your layout and channel.
@@montananorthern Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting caught up on yours!
Nice haul from the show' Those Jeff's Ho scale train loads look great. You got a killer deal, Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I agree the prices were fantastic. Thanks so much for watching.
It was a pleasure to meet you after watching your videos all these years. I agree it was a great show.
It was a pleasure to finally meet you as well. Thanks so much for watching all these years. Hope to see you again soon.
Hey Thomas! What a great haul from the show! I was not aware of the show, so sorry I missed it - maybe next year! Exciting about the 2026 NMRA Convention. I have it on my calendar already. Those loads look great and what a great price! - Brian
I looked for you there. My apologies, I should have told you about it. Yeah the show was pretty good. Some great prices for sure.
Just joined the channel and liked the painting of the turnouts. I hope the health problems go away for you. Glad to see another Murfreesboro Layout make it on You Tube. Stay safe out there.
I have Minniears Syndrome. It presents to me as me being drunk. Loss of balance, room spinning, disorientation, and several tests revealed what is up. One inner ear has the issue, throws off my balance. I have had many years of no problems but for a few years it was hell. Good luck to you.
That may be what I have but not sure. Mine has gotten better. I haven't had any dizzy spells in the past 4 days so I hope that's all it was.
Is the 4 floors of whores going to be back on this layout?
Track looks amazing, Thomas! - Brian
Thank you so much Brian
Track looks great! Definitely worth the extra effort.
Thank you very much
Nice haul' so fun to go to a real train store instead of online. We have 2 nice train stores in the Louisville Ky area. Look forward to more post, Thanks Indybob
You are very lucky. I would do anything to have a true train store here in Nashville. Thanks so much for watching.
I've been to Roundhouse...great store!
You "stop" by Spring Creek😮 that was mistake number one😂. I've been conducting classified missions there for years and always come back with a smile 😊
😂 I totally understand
Nice haul, Thomas! Looking forward to seeing all of that on your layout. - Brian
Thanks Brian. Unbelievable store.
Just bought my first N scale loco. It is also a scaletrains BN SD40-2. Awesome little locomotive
That is awesome. I agree with you.
Looks great!!
Thank you so much
Hey Thomas! Backdrops look amazing! Nothing like getting that first train running. The layout is going to be amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing it progress. - Brian
