Hear Kathy's Leadership Journey
Kathy started her career as a math teacher, with no plans of becoming an executive. She never expected to become the founder of a program like NeuroLogic® which is training schools worldwide. Kathy was simply “always drawn to the kids that struggled the most.”
Hear more about her journey on the Executive Leaders Radio show that airs this Sunday, September 29th at 6am.
Once the show airs, it will be accessible on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and other podcast sites, as well as www.executiveleadersradio.com.
Thank you to the team at ELRadio for bringing Kathy onto their show!

School Facility Dog Questions Answered
Переглядів 422 місяці тому
Ever heard of a school that has four-footed staff members? Each of Lakeside’s schools has at least one facility dog that is trained to respond to students’ stress, providing a calm and regulating presence. We recognize that adding a facility dog to your team isn’t cheap. However, grants such as Pennsylvania’s PCCD grant (deadline extended to 9/26/24) can cover the costs, and the impact of these...
Flexible Seating for Less than $10
Переглядів 403 місяці тому
Flexible seating options, like wobble chairs, standing desks, or rocking chairs can meet students' various sensory needs. It isn’t natural for our bodies to sit for hours on end, and movement can help us learn. Flexible seating can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. A few of our team members tested out this DIY alternative seat creation and found that it could be put together pretty quick...

Beautiful. The background music is essential. 💙
Thank you! We had a lot of fun making the video. We love finding low cost ways to make movement and play a natural part of learning at school.
I love this idea!

Thank you, Kristen!
I love the last teacher
We're so glad to hear it! We train teachers on how to become brain-based like the teacher in the video (making brain-science and trauma informed principles practical in their classrooms.) www.neurologicbylakeside.org
Thanks for educating people!
Absolutely! Facility dogs can be have such an incredible impact - we've seen them make a big difference for students who were struggling.
My daughter can listen and write notes all day and not retain a word, but if she is drawing she listens and has an automatic recall of everything that was said.
It's great to hear that she's found something that works for her. Drawing can definitely help some students focus. Here's an article about it that she may find interesting: learningliftoff.com/students/gifted-students/benefits-of-doodling-in-classroom/
As a former problem student myself, I can tell you that getting angry at us doesn't help. It makes us not care even more. Also I almost got one of my teachers fired for how angry they got at me. It doesn't take a whole lot to get to know your students and the difficulties they're facing. For instance, I would sleep a lot in class. Teachers hated it. Nobody bothered to get to know why. It was because I was too scared to sleep at home. Sometimes having extra patience and understanding is the best way to handle things.
Thank you so much for sharing, @hezekiahfarmer4669.
Where is this school I need info stat 😂😂
We love our facility dogs too! There are dogs at each of Lakeside's schools. lakesidelink.com/education/facility-dogs/
We had fun 😊
Very cool! I'm sure this is very useful for those dealing with anxiety.
Yes, this can certainly be a helpful tool for students (or adults) dealing with anxiety.
