First time I’ve heard this song but enjoyed hearing it. That red VW brings back memories of my black 1961 VW sedan. We saved one thousand dollars and bought it used just before we married in June 1965. In 1969 we traded it for a new dark blue VW Squareback which was about $3,600 as I recall.

Leroy Van Dyke is 95 and I hope he’s heard your great rendition. Somehow I didn’t know about your band until tonight. I’m 80 and have always enjoyed bluegrass and vintage country, especially Maybelle, Sara and A P Carter. I have a video featuring Bill Monroe performing “Uncle Pen” in 1956 but UA-cam doesn’t allow the audio when I’ve tried to upload it. In the 1960s when I was stationed at Minot AFB, I attended a Johnny Cash concert featuring Maybelle. My wife and I attended many country music concerts including The Opry. My life was wonderful until she passed away in 2021. We met in 1961 and married in 1965.
