"Let humanity's endeavor into the cosmos be fueled by wonder."
I - The Stars Call To You - 0:00
II - Champion of the Cosmos - 1:59
III - Lux Aeternum - 5:04
IV - Anomaly - 11:24
V - A Voyager’s Journey - 14:50
Here it is: the largest project I have ever worked on. 51 parts, 650 measures, 21 minutes. To The Stars: A Voyager's Journey was a project I started some time before the start of summer 2024 and one I have since been working on, until this November, the longest amount of time I have ever spent on a single piece. Built on my fascination with sci-fi concepts, music, and media in general, To The Stars, as the name suggests, is a 5-movement piece centered around the wonders, dangers, and thrills surrounding space and its exploration, from our beloved solar system all the way to the furthest galaxies. Over the countless millennia of humanity's existence, space has consistently been a topic of debate by both scholars and students alike, across the world, from the ancient Mayan civilizations of North America, to the likes of Copernicus and Galileo during the times of the Renaissance, space has been a captivating topic present across all facets of humanity's scientific community for as long as we have known it, for space is as expansive and unknown as even our own Earth's oceans.
The piece begins with The Stars Call To You: a short introduction to the piece that will lay the groundwork for our exodus into space.
Following that is Champion of the Cosmos: the second movement, which highlights the beginning of our journey and the triumphs that come with it.
The third movement, Lux Aeternum, serves as our ballad: slower, more reflective, a woodwind-heavy movement that features the English Horn and the Alto Flute, showing the eldritch mysteries of the stars that lie beyond humanity's reach.
The fourth movement, Anomaly, takes a turn from the former: Anomaly brings in the power of the brass, exemplifying the dangers associated with the exploration of the unknown.
The fifth movement, A Voyager's Journey: listen to the piece and hear as the themes of our exodus return in one last medley, marking the end of our voyager's journey.
