    Do you think this trip can be done with 4ppl? 2adults and 2kids in a Hilux?

    • @fastaustralianadventures
      @fastaustralianadventures 16 днів тому

      Yeh it certainly could. If you were to forgo a fridge it would give you a lot more space. I would do a few dummy packs to work out exactly what works in loading the car, will also help you work out what you can do without, what takes up most space etc

    The fact you had traction control active while driving in sand, may be the cause of that noise which concerned you. Generally speaking, in all sand driving, I turn the traction control off.

    • @fastaustralianadventures
      @fastaustralianadventures 3 місяці тому

      You are correct, we discovered after the fact that the Hilux has two levels of traction control offness, we had only managed to get it half way off basically, we think the noise was most likely the abs pump kicking in

    Its not a remote track,

    • @fastaustralianadventures
      @fastaustralianadventures 7 місяців тому

      Remote - definition from the Oxford dictionary - “situated far from the main centres of population” Maree at the southern end of the track is 655km from the nearest major city. Track - it’s literally called the Birdsville track. So 1 it’s remote & 2 it’s a track.

    A few good suggestions here. I really like that you stressed the importance of a PLB. Some people lately have been saying they have an SOS option on their new IPhone so don’t need a PLB. But at the end of the day a PLB will work once all your other communications options run flat.

    • @fastaustralianadventures
      @fastaustralianadventures 9 місяців тому

      Thanks Gary! The iPhone is a great backup but certainly shouldn’t be anyone’s no1 emergency item in the super remote. We have the satphone as well but for us the plb is definitely our number 1 safety requirement.

    If you should desire, move as much weight as possible toward the front of the vehicle (within reason) water is best carried in the centre, if you have a twin cab remove the rear seat and secure your water containers there. Ideally the rear tyre pressure should be about 8 psi minimum above the front, usually more, if you have a lot of weight over or behind the rear wheels with the wrong tyre pressure you will be riding a bucking bronc, as you experienced, or you could spend a kings ransom on a suspension upgrade, enjoyed your video, thanks 😊

    • @fastaustralianadventures

I took the diversion to the north. Wasn’t game enough to cross the lake. The track you were on wasn’t even there. It was so soft back then.
