Forensic files Murder of a Nikon 18 135 mm lens
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
This badly broken Nikon 18-135mm AF-s DX lens came to me as part of a lot. As it will not be economical to have it fixed, I have decided to open it to investigate what went wrong. I always find it interesting to see how lenses are made. Have a look with me.

Panasonic Lumix GF6 Buying one in 2020
two questions?? short through or long through focus, which is better? 135 3.5 ai 4 glass elements vs 135 3.5 ais 5 glass elements.... which is better?
If you put a 220 back on can you get 16 shots instead of 15? And if so do you have to line the arrows up differently or the same as in your video at this time? 25:45
What about the jpeg number attached to each picture
Im from India and i need free camera from you.
threre is the F-301 that uses AI-S too, it's a 501 without AF, and some simplifications. I'm here because I wanted to educate myself about Nikon lenses, I learned just having the F-Mount does not mean full compatibility, I have a F-301, F-50 and D40. The lens that came with the F-301 has fungus, so I hope I can use the kit lens , an AF from the F-50 with it. D40 is still on it's way. I use Canon, so I had a much simpler life with EF and EF-S before... I inherited the Nikons, and got the D40 for little money from Ebay just for fun.
@andreasbartel3449 The F301 is an underappreciated gem. Better than than a FM2 for less than the quarter of the price. I also like it's 80s design, even if the body isn't as sturdy as the older cameras.
Parfait la vidéo ! Bien joué l'ami ! Merci
My Dear; Sir: Thank you very much for this "Great Review." I have seen it twice now because, knowing myself there is always something I might have missed and sure enough, I did. Especially, the part on using the self-timer. This is one of the best video on how to use your Mamiya 645 camera and I feel very blessed to have found you. Thank you so, much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us all. Please, take care and may the good Lord always bless you. Thank you with all my heart, Roger.
It don't work.
@paulsteunenberg5617 hi, it does work, but it is harder to do thanks it should be. Trying again carefully, and after a few attempts, you should succeed
don't work
Thanks for sharing. The video was very informative.
Thank you, nice video, very helpful...
One of the best information videos I've seen on the F4. Great indepth explanation! U.S.A.
thanks for the video. I have two F4;s. haven't used them for years
Those old camera lens also do not have the cut out for when minimum small aperture is set also known as EE potion to allow for auto aperture setting. So if you have no aperture pin like on the D 70 you still cannot mount a non AI lens because the FEE pin will also be damaged. it is at the 8 o'clock position.
Was this lens ever part of a kit with a camera ?
Yes, it was often sold with the G or GF range of bodies.
I have it, I love it for what it is. It is an artistic tool. The softness and slow apertures gets me very vintage looks, weights nothing, and makes a GM1 or GM5 pocketable.
By far the best video for the 1000s. Thank you! Chris I have a AE prism but it’s not the shutter priority one. I purchased it off eBay all it has is ASA dial and a “on/off” switch on the right side. It does have a meter but not to sure if there’s a manual for it. This isn’t the one I wanted to get like you have. Any help?
Thank you for this video and for showing us that it works with the app. That’s exactly what I needed to know!
Glad it was helpful!
My film advance wants to go around twice before it will fire in single shot
Watching this in 2024. I ended up buying a GF6 for around 90 USD as a last-resort backup 1080p talking head camera. I'm enjoying the GF6 a lot more than I thought I would! It still holds up for photography, and for very basic talking head style video on a tripod, it can get the job done. =)
Thank you, Monsieur! Great information but I am tired now from standing on my head:) trying to get the orientation of my camera to match up with yours. I am looking forward to taking mine out tomorrow to try it out!
I have 2 Nikon FAs and use AI and AIs lenses with them
is a shutter count of 36 able to get a higher sales price trying to sell my g7 for a cannon 5d and thanks worked great
Your tutorial worked for me Lumix GF6 Thank you.
Is it possible to take a picture while I`m recording a movie with my GF6? It does not work for me. Is it possible, so yes, how my settings need to be?
Your "title" and premise are wrong and deceptive. I mount old manual focus lenses to my D800, D850, D3200, etc. with absolutely no problems. The camera's "autofocus" must be set to "Manual" for the easy mounting and dismount of each lens. No problem. No disaster. No repairs. - Maybe you should "re-do" your video and make a "correct" one for all people to see, including yourself!
Nowhere in the video I says that manual lens cannot be mounted on digital SLRs. I am warning you that the oldest od Nikon SLr lenses, before the Ai générations, Can damage the Ai sensing ring on cameras that are equipped with one ( not the D3200 but the D800 and D850). Maybe you should watch and listen carefully to a video before making such comments.
Hello, I have a nikkor Ai to Fuji Fx adapter. Do you know if I can use an Ai-s lens?
Yes you can and you can use any Nikon F mount lens that has f stops on it.
I have several non AI lenses in Nikon mount/t mount. They work. You must set the autofocus to M (manual). And the lenses I have tried will all attach to and come off of D3200, D800E, D850, D610. Is this "much ado about nothing"????? I think so.
you are not noticing if your AI tab is broken till you try using manual AI lens in aperture priority mode
D100 and D 60 D 70 D 80 and D 90 have pins that will be damaged. Newer camera designed for type G lens with no aperture on the lens will not have problems but then you cannot control the aperture of the old lens with the camera.
I did this procedure and now all the buttons on the back of the camera have stopped. Help me please.
Must be a French joke 😂
Et en français ça donne quoi merci
I just bought this camera and the previous owner changed the zoom switch into a metering switch to change the colors quickly. I can’t seem to restore it back to the zoom feature.
This is a great travel lens, it is really sharp, tiny, and inexpensive. The only issue I has is at temperature, when it gets below zero the lens does not retract and error messages are shown. When the temperature gets above zero it works fine. Not a big issue as the lens is ideal for travel.
one tip, that kaiser copy stand has another function, if you take the camera bracket off, it is an enlarger stand, that's what the grid on the table is for, and why the mast is so high, so you can enlarge 120 or 4x5" negatives.
I just got used GF6, turned out 6112 frames, thanks so much for your effort, can't wait to return back to photography hope GF6 will be a good restart for me!
I just bought that same FOBA stand for 250 euro, it's insane how cheap these things are, new price for the one i have is like 9000 euro +!
At 250 euros, you had an incredible bargain. I sold the one in the video for 2000 euros. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, yes, i couldn't believe it, i was watching it for 5 days, no-one was bidding for it, so i jumped in the car to drive 1.5 hours to pick it up. I also have a Cambo UST stand and the FOBA (which looks like it's about 30 years older) is a much, much better stand. If i ever see another one for this price, i'll pick it up and get rid of the Cambo.@@thatfrenchbloke8892
I used to shoot with a C330 I believe it was called.
The C330 is a great camera too. It's the top of this range of TLR. I loveit.
the Df has same as FE mount works the EM and lower level had this problem
Great tip to keep it exposed to air. So annoying, to pay so much money for something and then have this sticky problem. And glad to know absolutely how to remedy the problem.
I did it with my GF3, thank you for video
Thanks for watching. I am glad you found it usefull
If you have this camera as your first venture into the medium format world, this video is all you need. All others seem to make too many assumptions about prior knowledge. Thank you, you've filled in all my missing knowledge! :D
Thank you for sharing this video. Very helpful. I like the way you say "count". All the best!
I am glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks most useful.
So nice of you
bravo, great review ;) It's a great lens for the bmpcc og , because it really makes it a pocket camera ;) I use this x vario 14 42 when passing by Paris few months ago and a friend of mine graded it : ua-cam.com/video/xwzZ1ZWuk-c/v-deo.html&ab_channel=iso800
That was enjoyable, thinking of buying one just to appreciate and feel in my hand. Love cameras of that period.
Do it, You will not be desapointed. And if you are, or need your money back, I am pretty sure you could sell the camera for what you paid for it.
So….if I were to use vintage lenses on my D3, that’d be a problem or no?
If the vintage lens are Pre-Ai nikon lenses, yes. Anythig after 1978 and you will be fine though
solution: don't buy a medium/upper level camera if you aren't that smart.
Problem are those are not full frame!
