Disneyland Paris ASD / Hidden Disability schemes including wrist bands disabled accommodations
@Disneyland Pairs have multiple things to help disabled people but some aren’t well known about. This video explains about the blue wrist bands and white tags to help those with hidden disabilities like Autism or learning disabilities and those who use prams as a wheelchair. The priority pass is always discussed but these aren’t!

      @@snowiestpie451thefox3 hi, message me on Facebook. The name of my page is stupid since Facebook made pages remove the word Disney. The page used to be disabled at Disneyland Paris but is currently disabled and visiting Mickey at Paris. Some rides you can stay in your chair, others you can take your chair right up to it. Big thunder you can take your chair right up to it and even the side folds down (you have to ask for it) to make a little platform seat to make transferring that bit easier

    Thanks for making the video, just please boost your own voice a bit in it, it's a bit too silent compared to your voice in the other clip about the other hotel you linked. The care rooms is a major problem for us, luckily it seem Sequoia lodge still has them, but taking care of a disabled family member, you sometimes need some "detachment time" due to the stress a theme-park can put on a person. It seems like it's a cost cutting measure of trying to cram as many people in as they can.

      @@DisabledAtDisneyNo indeed, as for caretakers (both family and professional) having some down time is important. Theme parks are hard work, especially with special needs children (of all ages ;) ), to have time to wind down, while still being able to "quickly come over to help in case of an emergency", is vital! People think it's juts "oh they ask for free stuff again" (I had that remark thrown at me several times), but it's more that I wish to make sure that those i the field get less stress and can have a bit of time to themselves before sleep. Even in the special needs community I ran into some, well let's just say what it is is, selfish folks. They did everything "by themselves anyway!", but forget that some do not have that luxury. Some special needs folks need an extra person there. And that person deserves respect and good secondary working conditions. We like/love our caretakers/needs providers, and we should show them our love. Not a "OH they want more free stuff!", I rather deal with a threshold in the door, than to force them to be over stressed and not have their wind down time. Sorry it's my personal frustration in dealing with Hotels and other vacation spots that don't seem to keep these things in mind. And one of the things that Disney did well, was this extra space for care professionals. So again, sorry for writing this long book, but it's an open nerve :P .

    Why do your videos keep "buffering" when almost no body else has this issue? I know it's not your fault, but it is quite annoying. Do you think it's view related? That channels with more views get a better service offered?

    Is this how the country (France) is in general toward disabled ? Just wondering. Do they have curb cuts at least? Do they not have a generally applicable disabilities act ? I’m reading an interesting article re the history of disability law in France and trying to figure it out. Unfortunately I haven’t visited the country to see for myself. ;(. France is usually on the forefront of social welfare policies , so this (the difficulty presented in the video) is unexpected and disheartening, yet of course helpfully informative. Thanks for posting.

    • @DisabledAtDisney
      @DisabledAtDisney Рік тому

      I don’t think it’s great on a whole, it has a bad reputation towards the treatment of autism, both high support needs and low support needs. I’ve only explored the area around disney and found dropped curbs (the area was all newly built in the 90’s) and people to be helpful. The supermarkets have a checkout isle dedicated to disabled people although if your disability isn’t obvious they will ask for proof of it, something that I can’t imagine happening in the uk for something as minor as using help in a supermarket. I’ve spoken to people who have lived in France who were disabled, physically disabled people seemed happy there, people with autism (the ones I’ve met, so ones with families who are supporting them) although happy, seem to have a much rougher time than those in the uk (which is saying something!). There’s also no emergency pull cords in hotels or disabled toilets for if you fall, and changing places toilets aren’t common.

    • @DisabledAtDisney

      Hi, These are one option but your friend also has the option of asking to see the allergy folder and eat from the main menu. They can’t guarantee that this will be free from cross contamination like these meals but the food will be a lot nicer. In buffets someone should show you around with the allergy folder and show you what you can have but some cast members are better than this, if you aren’t confident in your cast member, don’t be afraid to ask for someone else. These safe allergy meals I featured which are guaranteed cost different prices in different places. I’ll comment with the prices

    I agree with you. 100%. The other ride with problems for disabled people is Star Tours. My husband has the tick for difficulty with walking but can transfer. He uses a wheelchair but can walk SHORT distances. They say that he must walk from the ride entrance to the ride and then back to the ride entrance to get his chair back. This totally kills him and so we have to miss out that ride. Granted we have not been on it since the refurb so might have changed.
