Hi Keith. The new release should be available this spring. I'm currently busy with 3rd-party projects plus another release, but rest assured that "80s/Cyberpunk Volume 2" is definitely on the agenda :). I've already upgraded my CS80V and created the first few patches.

Hi Winston. I created the sounds using FM8, with Plogue Chipcrusher as an outboard effect to add some subtle 16-bit grunge, then finished things off with light EQ and compression. In the "Processed Kicks" folder (not used in the audio demo), I took some of the finished kickdrum sounds and used a more heavy-handed approach with the effects to make them more useful for non-chiptune music. I didn't save any of the FM8 presets, though. Sorry about that :(.

Thanks, man :). I really like working with this synth. Thinking of a "volume 2" later on, but instead of sticking so strictly to "retro purism", volume 2 will be more modern and fresh - In short, still "retro" in character, just not following the "vintage-hardware-only" philosophy as much. This is the direction I plan on going in with all future releases from this point forward, as the current generation of musicians grew up with more modern synths.

I spoke with Arturia about this, and apparently patches made using version 3.0 can't be made to work in the new format :(. On the bright side, I'm gonna update my copy and make a whole new sequel for the 4.0 users. Volume 1 already covered all the essentials, so I'll be able to explore the Cyberpunk subgenre more deeply the second time around.

@@xenossoundworks7771 So if I bought the presets now, will there be an upgrade. I only have the new version of the CS80V (just got it about a month ago), and I'm now looking at preset packs for it. Or should I wait for your new set? Thanks!

@@chrissullivan1673 Hi Chris. Glad you asked before buying anything...You'll definitely want to wait until the new pack is released. Volume 2 (made using the new version) will be an entirely new product, not merely an updated version of the old one.

I hear ya 100% :). There's a lot hiding under the hood in this one. Would be an excellent choice for house/techno production, particularly for making modular style arps and sequences, motion synths, etc. My only gripe is the aliasing that's pretty noticeable when using the osc sync function. Wish they'd fix that.

Hmmm....in my opinion, most polyphonic analog emulations can get you close enough with proper programming. The initial sounds were often quite simple, and most of the magic was in the expression parameters like aftertouch, etc. As an example, you can try programming a very basic saw wave sound (with a generous amount of reverb on top), then assign the aftertouch to open up the filter, then the modwheel + LFO to pitch for a vibrato effect.
