Simply beautiful. Had two Spitfires, both 1970. Wanted to put a GT 6 engine in one.

My first car was a '58 100-6. Fast 6cyl, 4 seat interior, 2" ground clearance!

When I was a kid in the 60’s I went for a ride in a Healy with my aunt and her boyfriend. I managed to wedge myself in the back, and remember a fun ride and the electric overdrive.

Very nice but why always with the oversized wheels and tires and big lift kits for these types of restorations? Not saying it’s wrong but sometimes things can look out of proportion a bit especially when everything else done to the vehicle is of high and classy standard. Personal preference I get it.

Finally a video I can comment on. I have own a couple of 1970 Spitfire. I have had the thought for many years of doing just this. Spitfire bidy in a GT 6+ chassise. That a beautiful xar you got.

It should have come from the factory with the 2.5 liter TR-6 engine and the overdriven transmission as well as that nice bulged bonnet. My Spitfire has a Chevy 3.1 V-6 and 33 inch tires. It was at the dump on a trailer ready to be trashed forever, pretty bad shape. We made an offer and had him take it home to our place. The center "console" is not original. About $185 for a piece of plastic from Moss. The the cost of the grille etc. Visor hardware, no visor. The tach is in the speedo hole and vice versa. Too much fuel gauge bounce, check the sending unit. Smiths tach.. electric.. Do you have the original 3 main or a 5 main. Headlight switch should be a toggle if you care about originality. Rear view mirror is a replacement Why do you flick the overdrive if you are not on a hiway or freeway? Does the car have a motor and front and rear bumpers? How about the boot? Single 12 volt battery and switched to negative ground or 2 6 volts and positive ground ? Oil cooler? Original front and rear bumpers?

recently bought an '87 spider with my dad, what a joy it is to ride, nothing compared to modern cars even while being much harder and "worse" to drive theres just something about driving an old sports car which you cant explain. pure bliss.

Very nice car. Definitely a sports car that was well known for its surprising speed and features despite it being a little car. I own a 66 MGB, only differences being it has a toggle headlight switch, is non-OD, has a factory radio, and is a brighter red. I'm wondering if this car has the 3-bearing engine instead of the 5-bearing, because around 1965, they changed the engine to a 5-bearing.
