Discover: "Wall"
“Wall” is an inventive survey of artwork from the permanent collection featuring 30 works by 28 artists, created over a 53-year timespan (1964-2017) anchored in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
The exhibition’s namesake, “Wall,” is a nod to Robert Indiana’s large-scale industrial print that is on display. “Wall” is also a reminder that, although ubiquitous and seemingly mundane, walls have multiple sides that represent many things. They construct spaces that literally function but also symbolize the ideas of “inside vs. outside” and “free vs. confined.” Across three gallery spaces, the Appleton curatorial team juxtaposed the works to create dynamic groupings that illustrate how artists push the limits of medium, line, form, texture and color to communicate with audiences.
"Wall" is on view at the Appleton Museum of Art from July 27, 2024 through March 9, 2025

One of his very best. Truly.
Thank you. Sharing with friends.
It's great that there are artists carrying on this tradition. Bravo!
This was so lovely to watch. Cindy is my cousin. Her Dad and my Dad were first cousins and friends. I just saw that Columbo movie the other night from 1990 Uneasy Lies the Crown that had her triple horse sculpture at the end at Santa Anita Park.
Painting of extreme beauty. 💐
Great photos -- I love Cuba
Theresa, I love your work! Patsy & I really enjoyed your exhibit at the Appleton Art Museum. All the best!
When I was an older teenager I took a boat trip with my cousins to silver springs. We left from Toms Fish Camp in Montverde on lake Apopka. A wonderful all day ride through locks and lakes. We arrived at the springs late but found a camp site below the main springs. The next day we went exploring, following a worn trail through the woods. We came upon a large group of abandoned buildings. Upon entering the largest we were amazed to find a large room with photo murals of smiling African Americans waving from a glass bottom boat. We left immediately since we felt like intruders. After pulling away from our "campsite" we saw posted signs on the cypress trees. What we had discovered was the ruins of Paradise Park.
excellent presentation..informative and fun to watch.Good.witty talk by Angelina Lippert.Showed it in my zoom art history class tonight.A deep dive into the history of the poster and the times.Thanks.
excellent...great info of the culture at the time
I attended her presentation at the Appleton Museum yesterday and found it to be very enlightening. Her photographs follow a well-established tradition of fine arts photography. Each photograph is very introspective and many are delightful.
Very nice. I have visited your museum in the last year, and I found it pleasing.
This is still best song I ever had the privilege of hearing live 😊
way too much details look audience are born baby's hilarious , never been that board in my life thank you but no thank you.
Some curators are not to par with marketing or the high standards many have come to expect from content. Also jadeite is fragile depending on the piece or the age ? They are not wrong to not touch $ the risk is still high and depending on the insurance company or owner they follow the terms and conditions ?
Hi why is the recording so bad, it is not clear?
Love it as always!🙂
Thank you for sharing absolutely wonderful detailed tutorial.

Cj Silver Springs Florida.💋👄
Cj This was during the time when Afro- Americans had a very excellent part of enjoying their time & involving in pleasurable activities.
I'm a huge fan of much as posters. Where can I buy large high quality reproduction mucha posters? Most of websites I find sell small copies. I'd love to frame a couple posters and display them in my house.
Thank you
You mispronounced palanquin...
Nobody cares it’s spelled out, move the fuck on
That was excellent 👏🏽
Sublime ❤
Wonderful
Its beautiful...I can't wait to try it! thanks so much.
Great
Beautiful explanation!
Thanks for showing this. Not all of us are able to make a trip to the Appleton so it's nice to see some of the exhibits here on UA-cam..
It's a shame I missed this informative talk a couple of years ago, I would have asked a question! Well done to Angelina. Her presentation was great. Thank you very much for keeping the talk alive here✨ As an aside, my mother had a couple of Mucha prints (which sadly faded and now gone) on board, which I was always fascinated by when I was younger. A few years ago, I went to see a big Mucha exhibition in London, which was brill! Seeing the complex posters up close was spectacular! I also, very pleasantly bumped into an extremely tender, quiet and contemplative torso to head oil painting (which was a surprise) by Mucha of a young girl laid down wearing traditional folk costume, that was in a Sofia (Bulgaria) art gallery. I treasure my photo of that piece. And lastly, I am very happy to say that I am lucky to own my own piece of Art Nouveau history currently, which is a lithograph print of Sarah Bernhardt c1901 by the french artist Paul Berthon, which was once the possession of a very famous celebrity in the UK. So there you go. Keep Mucha in our memories, I say! All the best 🇬🇧
Great explanation, he was my ancestor
It is 12:03 ✌️🌍😎🙏🌞🎼☮️✝️🦋🤓🙌👏💛🎤🌍🌍🌍✌️🩷🦌
What a great looking statue! The detail in both the clothing and the poise are fantastic. I also really enjoyed the mongol and the accompanying music. Well Done!
You are such a wonderful teacher! Thank you for your time and patience from South Afri🇿🇦
I have a carafe or vase that is about 14 inches tall. It is ferns with the roots in the base. The Vase is a woodsy green. Quite beautiful. Do you know it’s worth?
If you do another of these, please have the camera close enough to see the painting. Your “make sures” aren’t useful if we can’t see what you’re doing.
Im in ocala fl, and love alphonse mucha didnt know it was here in town and im said I missed it :(
What a great presentation. Loved it!!
This was so good!
A wonderful paced, informative description of this unusual art
Delightful and insightful interview with the very talented Susan Martin., Jenifer Marx
Wow! Learned so much about this amazing artist. I would love a Mucha styled portrait of me❤
Hi, I have an old (frog?!!) necklace, the cord was really bad so I cut it , it has a frog and some stone beads, I tried to google it but I found so many beautiful ones but not same as mine, can you help identifying it? and how can I send an image to you? Thank you
Need help, bought an African mask but would like to know its meaning.
This is my favorite painting in the world. To see it in person is amazing. Luckily, I live close to the Appleton, so I can do that from time to time.
I loved the museum. I lived in Lake Forest, Il on the Appleton property as a child. I never met Arthur who was away at school. I knew his mother Doris who after the death of his father she moved to Florida. I have some old electrical items with the Appleton name. I have many memories of his mother who had a vision and moved to Florida. It sounds as he also was a visionary of both his mother and father. Remarkable family.
Oscar for excellent presentation. I love Alphonse Mucha art! So beautiful and inspiring. I do hope to see his Immersion show like it was Van Gogh, and Monet. So happy art evolves into mega shows.
Young people these days are only interested in their phones.
