Margaret Allison Bonds. A Hidden figure in American music history. Studied with Florence Beatrice Price another Hidden Figure. Much like the Hidden figures in the early space program, these women, who wrote masterclass level compositions, were largely unknown during their lifetimes. Both Being black and women worked against them while they were alive. It’s nice to see they are getting recognition. Bonds’ Credo is her best work IMO. Much better in the orchestral version, but holds up well with just piano accompaniment.
