      @oldirongarage1962 4 місяці тому

      I can't remember what I used to clean this fuel pump but my preferred parts cleaning solution is a mixture called Ed's Red. It's a bore cleaner for firearms but works great for engine parts as well. Ed's Red is equal parts of K1 kerosene, odorless mineral spirits, ATF dexron 3 and acetone. The acetone is optional. So if you think the acetone will harm whatever you are cleaning, leave it out.

    Your twin cylinder Onan Genset will indeed make 220vac juice. Get the schematic diagram and you can see that their are two separate power windings L1 and L2. If you are goosey you can get all the schematics of similar 1800 rpm Onan gensets including the ones with 220vac and those with 110vac only. Then you will see that L1&L2 are series-connected in the 220v-only units but in the 110v-only each winding has its own pair of outlets. If you are super-cautious (and you should be) you can use a thing called a dual-trace-oscilloscope and watch the outputs of L1 and L2 in real time and see how they are phased. SPOILER I already did that with mine because my wife would die in the Kansas heat without the house's 16 amp 220VAC central aircon running. PS - Onan parts are available at Cummins Diesel dealers (they bought Onan to get their diesel-powered reefer unit-business. Post-post-script: Here in KC it is legal to run a standby genset on Natural Gas. I had to get higher compression cylinder (flat) heads for mine because they lose a lot of power on natural (because it is "bulky" and so it cuts down on your oxygen intake) but it is 120 octane-equivalent so squeezing the charge a little tighter works fine.

    Nice Tractor, Hope You don't mind My little Story.. I have a 1256-02 that My Moms Father bought new in 1970. After Grandpa Passed in 89 the Bolens sat in the Rabbit barn in Greenfield Wi for close to 4 1/2 Years till I told Grandma that I am taking the Bolens Home. The weekend that I brought it Home She was at out House in Wausau Wi . I got it started and drove it off the Trailer and I swore she had tears in Her eyes watching Me drive the Tractor around. Fast forward to 2019 after doing almost nothing to it, It sat covered up at the Old place. It was moved to My new Place. In 2022 I turned 62 and Retired, YES Free time to actually work on it. I did a basic cleaning just around the Engine area to clean off a lifetime of spilled oil and crud. Took the Carb off and did a Rebuild. I got it running and moving under it's own Power. You can see it on Jon Ritters Channel A Ritterbit will do. Titled "Built to last" Through the Years I have Ebay watch lists for the Bolens and Have acquired a lot of replacement pieces for It. I have a new in the Package Factory Decal kit. an almost prestein original Seat ETC.ETC. After all the Garden Tractors Grandpa Bought, Junked, Traded Etc. He always loved the Bolens because it was the Most dependable, Heavy and with the locking Axle, it rarely got stuck LOL.... I hope one Day to actually restore it before Passing it onto another Family Member... I hope this wasn't to long. Thanks Mike M...

    You caught my attention. I used to work at a feedmill hardware store and worked on Bolens tractors. I bought a 1254-01 that someone had traded in for a new model. I was so impressed that as soon as I was able to I bought another 1254. Had most of the attachments for them. A real garden TRACTOR is what they were. I actually used the one just for pushing snow up until 2013. It was still running when I sold it. Still amazes me that a 12 horsepower Wisconsin had all the power you needed when now it takes 23 horsepower. Oh well keep on keeping my memories alive 👍.

Now i have one on the minibike its still a dangerous start. You gotta commit or it will yank your damn fingers off. The surging is possibly an air leak at the crank seal. Those carbs were notoriously finicky too. If you need mower parts i may have some. I have 3 of them but only interested in the motors. A big carb is all i did and it will definitely push it to 50+ mph. On a kids mattel mx3 minibike its terrifying at 45 but it only weighs 65 pounds and fits in the trunk of the race car being towed.

    I like those old Homelites too. Imagine if we could have kept manufacturing things here in America instead of giving all that technology to China.

      I located a parts saw with no cancer that I'm gonna get. I'm gonna build one good saw out of the 2.

    It is great that you can remove the top from the tank even though it did not look easy. Great progress

      They are interesting. I'm gonna try to get the more complete mower running. And the saw is from the early 60s. They made that model for 2 years. It has an 88cc engine. It's a beast. Very heavy.
