The allegro at the beginning was too fast. The kids were unable to articulate fast enough. There are pitch problems throughout. This is a hard piece to get right.

I marched in 27th 76-82 and we played this excercise 80-82 and later after I aged out. Great playing I just want to say a lot of people are playing the end part with a different accent pattern then we played.I think the charts floating around may show that but we played the last part with all Flams accented. Both are valid but you should try it that way and see how you feel. It is very challenging to play all those final flams properly as accented Flams. :) Good luck and keep drumming !

It's amazing to see how far DCI drumming differs from the origins where it started. Straight rudimental drumming. All DCI drumming is today is simply taps and rolls. It's all hands and wrists with no attention to elbows and arms. The right elbow sticks out away from the body so far it's unreal. No free flowing in and out elbow motion from both the right and left. True rudimental drumming is a lost art. When I first started drumming it took me 6 months of hard work to master the single stroke roll.
