What a waste. Lol
Can I do this with a star adventurer 2i?
Hello sir no more videos 😢
Hello John. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Celestron AVX mount. However, in my setup, I will have the ZWO ASI294MC as my main camera, a ZWO asi120mm mini for my guide scope, and I would like to connect my mount to my computer. The problem is that it constitutes three USB components, but my computer only has 2 USB connections. I don't want an asiair, so do you have any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I would like to eventually control the mount via stellarium if possible. I was told that I could connect my guide camera to the back of my main camera, but the main camera only has 1 USB connection, and the other, I think, is a St4 connection.
whats the point of doing drift align if youre guiding?
Drift align first will make your guiding better, more accurate. Better long term exposures.
thanks for this great tutorial!
It's £1500 now ($1700).
i hava an skywatcher eq5 without motor and my telescope do not have camera, nice to watch
in 2019 in pln is 5k zlotych. Now it cost 10k zlotych XD :(
Can I ask how do you take your Ha I struggle with this. I use asi 533 guided 180 second subs about 20 hours but my image at the start of processing is no we’re near as good as yours. Thanks 🙏
You might need to play with the gain settings a bit. In my case when I run RGB I use a gain of 75 and for Ha usually around 139. Also Ha I go for longer exposures (up to 10 minutes). See if those tips help.
Do you have to calibrate the app, and how could I use it in the southern hemisphere ?
Nice Intro.
Thanks!
I struggle to shoot Ha - can u help me understand how you shoot ha work flow
Ha is no different for me than RGB. The exception being the focus point being quite different. The other thing to say about Ha is that it will have significantly less noise than RGB but also slightly fainter - which usually means I shoot longer exposures. Exposure times depend on the brightness of the object but typically I go for 4 - 5 min exposures per sub when using Ha filter. Hope that helps.
Are u saying u have to do a 3-star alignment before u use drift align? How does that work if u are not accurately aligned yet?
outstanding presentation thx
For complete beginner's it would help to show what you're actually doing to the scope and mount itself. That seemed like a black box to me.
Can you clarify something. When you first aligned in the day you were roughly pointed towards Polaris. Later you said you point the scope to 90 degrees away from that. Do you mean the mount is now aligned that way or you are moving the scope using RA/dec to that point?
Can polar alignment be done with this with 1 camera and a tracker?
This was very helpful, I just purchased the new iOptron Skyhunter mount without iPolar and was trying to find ways to polar align without having to spend another 200 dollars! I will definitely incorporate some of your workflow in mine, thank you
It would be a lot easier if you just bashed a large hole through your house, giving you a clear view of Polaris. Just saying 🤔
Great overview. I just received my EQ6 R Pro, but for 2 complaints, the mount is great. Complaint #1 the Polar Reticle is turned 100ish degrees to the left, make the polar alignment process difficult - there is no manufacturing quality control on the installation of Reticle (Cloudy Nights has several complaints fro 2 years about!!). Complaint #2, the Polar Alignment instructions in the manual are confusing, disordered, and in poor English. Once overcoming these 2 challenges, the mount works great. Yeah, I’m picky after spending $2000+.
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. one question though, You mean altitude and azimuth, when you say adjusting RA and Deck?
I thought I wanted an 8" RASA, but damnnnnnn your setup looks good!
I still would like a RASA connected to a color camera. Great for larger FOV and quick target acquisition.
Why don’t you just make a false image?
The explanation was great up until you went inside. You stated you went out to do something after dark and lost me. Too much lost in simply jumping in the software. Aka...have your wife follow your procedure as described... Thank you for the 1st half though.
I did a follow-up video to give more details. Watch vid #38.
Fantastic
screwdriver made me nervous :)
LOL
Can I stack 600 sec subs and 1300 sec subs for two separate stacked photos and then combine those?
Yes you can. In PixInsight don't use the WBPP script. Instead, calibrate and align manually, then when you do the integration step using ImageIntegration, specify "exposure time" in the weights section - so that the 1300sec subs will carry more influence to the final image.
Why, oh why do Americans say a 3x zoom is a "3-ex" zoom? No! It's a "3-times" zoom.
Thank you so much :-)
Very nice video, I am hoping for success with my HEQ5 PRO and Explore Scientific 102triplet, using a ZWO ASI 183 MC and such. As far as hobbies go, boating costs more, vehicles cost more and I would say due to the years that your instruments can last if taken care of, astronomy is rewarding and not a waste of money. Plus you can upgrade especially since during the Covid situation, used astronomy gear go's for a good price used.
Amazing photos of deep space! Curious as to what add-ons you currently run on your 8se since posting this video. Thanks.
Wouldnt be easier and more accurate if you attach the phone to the polar axis instead of the telescope mount?
Lol thank you straight to the point love it this is how you make a video fellow UA-camrs no mucking around am in the same situation with house but southern hemisphere once weather clears will give it a go subscribed keep them coming!!!!!!
Unlike other channels this Intro is Great!
It's all a little over my head, but definitely very interesting!
Thanks Endeavor - wow, I'm honored that a famous UA-cam celebrity like you would take notice. Thanks! Please do "A Flock Of Seagulls" sometime on your channel.
Not sure if you still have this scope. Do you happen to remember what model moonlight focuser you were using with the scope? Looking at their website is a little confusing. Thanks for the great video.
Give them a call - he will know what you need.
Good job
I applaud you for watching that marathon.
Thanks for the video. I just bought mine. What is the background music at the end of the vid?
From the movie, "Timerider" in 1982. Music was written by the famed Monkee - Michael Nesmith. I contacted him to secure his permission to use his music.
How far off from 90 degrees orthogonal and western horizon can you be. I have a tree due south and my house covers the western horizon a little
❤ hopefully you watch this : ua-cam.com/video/LEKgxZbFG_k/v-deo.html @ ua-cam.com/users/GuideUSTVOnAirvideos
Nice presentation.. I was thinking I could finalize alignment using ASIAIR pro instead of drift alignment.. do you agree? Thanks again
I’m very frustrated w my efforts. I understand what you where saying about the meridian and equator part pointing your scope at it but how do I point my scope at it
Watch video # 38 - more details there.
Stars are tighter (smaller) with the ZWO's
I may be showing my ignorance here, but you comented that your right ascension need to be at "1800". Can you explain this more in depth? Is it the same for everyone or what? Great video, thanks for your time.
At the 3 minute mark of the video I am making the point to set the ring at a position such that when rotated 90 degrees - the ring will show "0". In my case it is 1800.
Is there an app for Android?
Hi, I am looking at the 120 APO as a major upgrade to my current gear . I currently use a CGX, and 8" SCT ASI294MC and Hyperstar. Could you perhaps give me the part numbers and/or sizes for the camera to file flattener. I think you ZWO camera would be much the same as mine ( 6.5 mm to sensor, plus 10mm 2" exntender that comes with the camera. I use 105mm from the F/6.3 reducer to the camera sensor ). What guide scope do you use for this ? I use an Orion 60mm F/4 on the SCT, which works well, but it is a bolt on to Dovetail Bar, which I absolutely hate ) Cheers Lance
If you are talking about the field flattener and Sky-Watcher Esprit - it is included. I don't know the part number.
Sir how can i turn the red led on ???
Buried in the menu is a back light on off option
John thanks for the great video but I had a question…I still don’t understand why you are leveling the DEC and RA at the beginning of the process. Why not just point the mount north with a compass and then use PSAlign Pro to do the rough PA?
