This will solve my issue of not being able to have a tower. I have a Cobb Web antenna and need to feed point at 25’. Wonder what you used for pipe? I was thinking 2”schedule 40 aluminum at 20’. The mast on the antenna is 6’ already. Wonder if I should used stronger schedule pipe?

yes add in a small pulley as every time up and down the steel wire gets hurt, and will start to break apart. but question? why wood? were i live wood likes to rot out. and the "green" wood, is brittle. (compared to reg untreated wood of the same size). and yes to your choice of a winch. a gear can not drive a worm. and possible in the future to motorize.

Why not use a drill to raise it?

Nice job. I built the same design only used schedule 40 2-7/8” galvanized posts. Placed the mast at the end of the house right in line with the gable. Once in place I have connected two offset mounts that help stabilize the mast and reduce the chances of it being blown over in a storm. The offset mounts have tapcons through the masonry. A masonry wall isn’t necessarily a good anchor point, but Ive added a third point using a steel strap at the gable with long anchor screws into the truss. Yes, I have to remove 6 screws to bring the mast down, but it doesnt come down often and the additional stability is worth it to me

You should add a pulley to the top of your stationary before the wire cuts a groove. Tractor supply near the bolts.

Great job, what diam. is the antenna mast, is it made of steel, is it water pipe or tubing, how long is the whole mast, and do you have a rotor on top? Thanks

Parts List: 1. 2 - 4”x 4” by 8 ft. posts pressure treated lumber 2. 1 - 2” x 4” pressure treated lumber 3. 3-1/2” x 4” galvanized lag bolts to mount winch 4. 2 - aluminum or vinyl post caps 5. 5 - 80lb bags concrete mix 6. 12 - 4” deck screws galvanized for mounting 2x4s 7. 1 bolt 3/8 x 4” galvanized To keep mast from turning in base 8. Winch (pay attention to where you want the crank.)(Different Types available) 9. Copper ground rod 8ft and ground wire 10. 1- 5/8 x 11” galvanized bolt with 8 washers ( 2 washers go on outside of 4 x 4s) and (3 washers on each side of base pipe inside center (between 4x4s ) to keep base pipe centered ) (also need 5/8 drill bit ) 11. Short base pipe is about 6” long and 2-1/2 or 3” in diameter depending on size of mast pipe which must fit into base pipe. Long 5/8 bolt goes through bottom of 4x4s and base pipe. Another smaller bolt 3/8 x 4” higher up on base pipe keeps mast from turning. I placed mast in between 4x4s for correct spacing BEFORE placing in hole and then carved out for larger bottom base pipe with reciprocating saw and chisel AFTER 4x4s were set in concrete. 12. Lock for top of posts (see video) 13. Hints: 14. Dig hole 3ft deep and 1-1/2 ft wide ( for added stability rebar can be pounded into hole) 15. Nail short pieces of 2 by 4s on 4x4s bottom and top to keep parallel when placed in hole and plum vertically ( I used concrete rods and a few 2x4S to hold it in place) 16. Pound in grounding Rod and mix and pour concrete let cure for a day or two 17. Add 2 short pieces of 2x4s for winch mount and 1 short piece about a foot above it to be used as winch cable guide. (keeps cable from climbing over top of 4x4s) 18. You can also GUY MAST for more stability in high winds 19. Good Luck KB3DHE…73
