Good guys rock
RIP to these 3 musical geniuses. Had the pleasure of touring with Dwight a few years ago and it was such a blast. Amazing music and great people!
I love this song!
Oh yeah ..
I wonder how long will it take before some writing person who publishes great backing guitar sideman players should include Bill Pitcock IV on their list ? Bill Pitcock would have to be in the 60-70 era of guitar players . But with respect of that era and what Bill brought forth to style and real natural talent then should be noted if a writer should investigate and realize ,Dwight Twilley had in his band some exclusive talent . In this clip here demonstrates that point . A very young Tom Petty playing bass . Later on Susan Cowsill work with various aspects of Dwight Twilley players . Thanks to Bill Pitcock's family for re- issuing very important video clips that really does not focus of Bill up close but rather the fine guitar riff playing unmistakenly can be heard with his time and service in the Twilley Band . Cheers 12/28/2021
Cool
Anybody notice the bass player ?
I know this is "playsync" but the way Tom was hitting the bass I wonder if he had any skill with that instrument.
I saw Tom in 2016 do an entire show on bass with Mudcrutch, while often singing lead (all the other members took turns singing lead as well). He was a good bass player.
Do you know how many steps there are to climb to the top?
I counted it once, but I can't remember, other than it's the equivalent of about six floors
RIP Tom Petty. You are missed💔

Classic E!
Such a fun song and band!
I lived at 2186 Broadview. No elevator key then.
I had the honor of playing with Bill in Phil's band. I've never had a band mate who was as funny and easy going. He was also a monster guitarist, who always knew exactly what to play. The original Dwight Twilley band is the "Great American Story"personified. Thanks for posting this amazing clip.
I can't believe I missed this show - I remember being 15 and learning guitar to this band locked in my room and pissed off.
Hadn't heard 'til I read this that Bill had passed. Have so much enjoyed his playing over the years....wonderful riffage and tone all the way through. A major factor in the DTB albums kicking ass the way that they do. Last album I heard him on was Twilley's "Tulsa" -- does anyone know if he recorded after that?
I posted this to, in all honesty, to highlight the great Phil Seymour. I used Bill's name to avoid the intellectual property police. However, since then, Bill Pitcock IV has passed away. He was an incredible and underrated guitarist. Although you usually will not find it on UA-cam, find the original single recording of "I'm On Fire." Incredible, just listen to the intro. Bill, Phil, Dwight Twilley, and Mr. Tom Petty, all four are now legends in my book.
All gone now 😢.
love how women never utilize the stock on a gun. shit...
oops, that was meant for my facebook. Anyhow, RIP, Bill. One of the greats of a genre.
RIP, Bill Pitcock IV. As a member of the Dwight Twilley Band, one of my absolute favorite power-pop guitarists. This "Twilley Don't Mind" clip featues the late Phil Seymour on vocals/drums, Bill of guitar, Twilley on keyboards, and Tom Petty on bass.
Bill Pitcock IV ... 1952-2011. R.I.P. Billy. Thanks for years of incredible music. May your memory be eternal.
Wow! The best Twilley clip posted so far! By naming it Bill Pitcock IV I guess you were making sure that only true Twilley fans would spot it - and Bill definitely does deserve a lot more credit than he's had for the major contribution he has made over the years to the Twilley sound. Thanks a bunch!
Isn't this more about Phil than Bill? Not that Bill's parts in this song aren't just smokin'-it's just that this is one of Phil Seymour's finest recorded moments as a singer. Not counting the bass player from Mudcrutch, that band was arguably the most talented group, to a person, in the 1970's, IMO. Wish that Phil were still around.
