Richard’s Scania 143 project part 4
So back at it after Christmas,
So this episode Richard and i are just sorting out little bits and checking the doors over to make sure everything works on them before we strip them out. After lunch we got distracted by the side skirts!! So we decided to get them out and hang them to make sure we have the right pieces. For a tax axle we worked out you need the two and pieces, a short piece and a long piece. But unfortunately the ladders that Richard have are for a midlift so they are shorter so we will have to fire up the welder to sort that.
We are nearly ready now to get the spray gun out now once the welding has been done on the cab.

Day 4, we crossed back into Germany last night from Sweden. We have to go and get the tractors cleaned and certificated ready to go back to the UK but unfortunately we missed the time slot for today so we washed the whole outfit then we continued down the road and parked up early in a truck stop and had some wonderful food and drink. Also we in the truck stop we parked at we saw this beautiful ...

Day 3, we are in Sweden, we have had some issues in customs in the morning which delayed us 4 hours. Because of Brexit everything that comes and goes in the UK has to be put on customs papers and cleared at the country of destination. With agricultural machinery they have to be cleaned and inspected by DEFRA. Then you get issued a cleaning certificate for the piece of equipment, but that certif...

So i decided to take a week off and go with Dad. When i was younger i used to go away with him every chance i got in the school holidays. Dad has been and owner operator for the past 30 years running one truck, moving farm machinery all across Europe and Scandinavia. His current Scania that he is running at the moment has been in the business for the past 11 years now. She has a whopping 2,200,...

So While i have been away in Canada the cab has been sent off to be repaired, and as you can see there is some welding that needs to be done on it to get it back to the way it should be.

So this episode is based over 2 days. I am doing the boring stuff of rubbing down and getting the cab ready before we can start with the fun stuff of painting. Unfortunately we found Some rust holes and a bad patch on the back of the cab for the gutter but noting that can’t be repaired.

So i have been moon lighting to myself!! I have been over the bridge into south wales to help a good friend of mine with his Scania 143. He took his truck off of the road to replace a few crossmembers in the chassis now its turned out to be a cab swap as well. So we have to swap the wiring loom from one cab to the new one. The high roof was called ( Airflow by Stuart Myhill) as I couldn’t remem...

I see the celebrity himself has made an appearance on camera 😂🤠
About time you did!
Were is he off to the middle east with them wild camel shovers on .does he polish his fuel tanks as well
😊nice
Thank you so much for this most informative set of videos. I’ve done this route on my ETS2 simulator and feel I’m ready to now get a job on Euro work! Does your father have any vacancies or double manning work with him so I can gain some experience? With the added bonus of driving a V8.
No disrespect but playing a truck game is nothing like doing the job for real and playing a game on roads similar to the real one's doesn't mean you're going to be able to do it for real or means your now qualified for continental driving.
Use to go away with my dad in his truck back in the 1960s, when I was a kid, away 4 nights a week, no sleeper cabs or night heaters in them days, use to sleep across the seats, but use to love it, nice looking Scania.
Thanks for the comment. That’s a great story, Dad used to do the same when he used to go away with my grandad, amazing how times have changed and how everything has evolved.
❤️ 8:48 to 8:53 V8 idle 💪
That Scania is a credit to your dad, given it’s age. What happened to the ex Soonius one he had?
Thank you , will pass the compliment on, the ex soonius one is back in Holland now
Nice! I do same work sometimes, I like it much more than our oversize loads that I do mostly. I enjoy driving without Pilot cars 😀 hopefully I get a load to UK someday, for now its Estonia to Sweden,Finland,Norway!
That wasn’t the old man ! He wasn’t moaning enough 🙈
😁 See you in sweden 😀
Very informative jack. Have you too many layers on or is Sophie feeding you too much as them buttons are under extreme pressure 😳
Yeah so I’ve had the jumpers since I was farming about 10 years ago so we will just say that they are a tad small now 😂! And I do have 2 jumpers on
Nice that someone takes the trouble take on such project! Keep it up!

Is it for sale??
Good job, bro!)
Fair play for deciding to do it the right way. Taking shortcuts always comes back to bite ye on the ass.
Thank you, yes I didn’t want to take it down that far but at least I know it will be done
That’s coming on nicely Jack! You’re definitely giving it some attention to detail.
Thanks Paul, once she is done it will be a nice thing! May of had word on a tilt trailer parked in the bushes as well 😜
It’s a bit of a commute for a couple of wheel bearings 🤷♂️
Yew nice vid you in Kernow ?
Somerset
👌
Serious work and time goin into that, nice to see rivets too instead of bolts proper job 👍👍
Thank you for you kind words. Yep it’s one hell of a task but will be something proud of when I have finished it
عمل ممتع احسنت بارك الله فيك
Just bear in mind how the 70s will affect your gear ratios. I have 315-80s on my 142 and it revs at 1700 rpm at 90kms. Your lorry could be screaming at 90 with those tires.
Thank you for the tip, that was in my mind about smaller tyres, if it’s too bad I’ll have to put them up on 315-80’s Thanks

Hi there, you have taken on a mammoth project, people who do this type of job for a living would take about 18 months to complete. However, I wish you all the best with it all, will follow your journey to the end, I started my driving career on a 141 and am a Scania man thru and thru. Cheers.
I’ve just subscribed 👍🏻🇬🇧
It’s coming along nicely jack 😎
Hi Do you have a spare steering box you want to sell? Asking for a friend!
Another great informative video jack. She has pulled up to many nasty surprises in the strip down.
At last the comments are on! Slow and steady progress Jack. Looking forward to seeing the ol man in front of the camera giving you a hand 😳
