At the start of this term, Lydia and Angelica (Yr12) set out to raise funds for 'comfort boxes' for the homeless in Brighton. After researching the items needed, they consulted with Julio, CEO of Off The Fence, to ensure the boxes were well-equipped. With £506 raised through a bake sale and non-uniform day, they gathered the necessary materials.
As Off The Fence is the Year 10 charity, they enlisted help from Year 10 students to pack the boxes, filling them with gloves, sleeping bags, food, hygiene products, and more.
Lydia said, "It’s amazing to see the boxes ready-if one brightens someone’s day, that’s brilliant." Angelica added, "It took time to raise the money, but packing was fast thanks to the Year 10s."
This initiative is part of the school’s ongoing partnership with Off The Fence, which also includes providing 100 hot meals weekly and an annual sleep-out to raise awareness of homelessness.
