Your ministry is a blessing Jennifer!
@@cocoazen thank you. May God be glorified through it all!
I’m currently on day 3 ❤
@@monasmith125 keep going! You got this!
I’ve found that if I eat something sour like dill pickles helps me cut the cravings for sweet. Also to either brush my teeth or use mouthwash also helps
Absolutely! Great tips, thank you.
Enjoyable video. I’m new. Just got my book today.
Me too!! Excited for this transformation
Thank you for sharing so much of yourself on this journey . It’s a blessing .
I had some thoughts yesterday Day 7 2023 “ Let me just get through this and,.. “ Wow! I need to stay in the moment of “ I’m not having that now” and never mind what’s ahead.
Thank you for sharing. I’ve done this fast before and am doing it with FB group with Wendy Speake and many others beginning January 9,2023. I’m glad that you have daily presentations. God bless!
Tired again today. When your mind feels foggy, it’s harder to connect with the Lord. Being sober-minded is what I am praying will happen during this fast. More clarity on so many levels. Thank you again for your videos and being vulnerable ❤️
Try leaving your Bible out and open somewhere you see it often. It makes it more inviting. I actually still do this. God will prevail, keep courage.
Day 2 and the cravings have arrived! I am sleepy and I knew I would be. That is actually tolerable….but the cravings are hard. This addiction is real. My phone addiction is real too. Thank you, sister, for making these videos. It helps me with some accountability and it encourages my soul. ❤️
Hang in there, God can get you through it, keep strong in your faith and He will see you through your struggle. Prayers for you as you journey on.
I just started this today….March 7th. I run to sugar and my phone mostly. I would like to put my phone down more during this time as well. I look forward to watching your videos as I go through this. ❤️
Best wishes as you go through your fast. Let me know how you do through it. Would love to know. You can do it.
So True!
Hi, I just started my 40 day fast yesterday and I can honestly say it is harder than I thought. I did well all day then at the end I gave in and had apple sauce and a honey bun. I don't know what to say about that. I am on day 2 and I already had brown sugar with my oatmeal. I don't know if I am really ready for this but I am going to keep going no matter how I do and how many mistakes I make along the way.
Keep going friend. You will become stronger with God by your side.
🙏🏼 🙏🏼 Yes it is really hard to let go of some of those foods. Carrots and Hummus has been my favorite snacks while on this fast. I am going to try incorporate more brain foods into my meal plan this week as well as I feast on His word! God bless you ladies 💚 stay strong I am praying for you all 🌻
Yes me too! I will be the first one at the fridge and keep going back if I can’t find anything that looks good. It is as if something different will appear since the last time I opened the fridge 🤦♀️ embarrassing I know! Lol brushing your teeth is a great suggestion. I may have to try that 😁 I didn’t think about our digestive system is overworked when we overeat. That is a great visual to think about for me when eating a delicious meal so I will not overindulge at my next thanksgiving meal lol thank you Lord that I am awake and alert so I can feast in Your presence. Use the is season of fast to heal my body and rouse my spirit. Heal my adrenal glands and anything else that needs Your touch today. In Jesus’ name, 🙏🏼❤️🙌🏼🌻
I hear ya! Thanks for sharing. It's a challenge for sure. But we can do this with God's help.
There have been a lot of times I can remember coming before the Father flat broke and bankrupt. There were a lot of things of this world that would take more of my attention than God. Shopping and UA-cam tutorials to be exact! I love that this 40 day fast is just not about sugar but more of Jesus and crowding out everything else. Day 2 of no coffee and no headaches!!! Yay! Thank you Jesus. I feel great today especially because not only is God breaking my sugar addiction but also my phone and coffee addiction as well. My heart is so full right now with gratitude. 🌻🌱 For me, this seems to be a long challenging fast however, I am excited to see how God will speak to me through the next 20 days!! I am praying for you ladies!! Stay strong ❤️ Have a blessed night 🙏🏼✝️
The one thing I could not go without forty days is Coffee. Today was Day 1 of not having my morning cup of Joe and I experienced an extreme headache later in the evening. It was amazing to me to see how easy it was to let go of coffee when I asked God for help! I tried to quit a few times before but each time I kept running back to it on the first day. I pray that God will give me the supernatural strength to resist the urge to drink coffee for the remainder of this fast. I used to have a few glasses of sweet moscato on the weekends occasionally but I do not drink anymore. I decided to stop 9 months ago. There is no judgement here either. I’ve been there and done that several times! I am praying for you ladies to stay strong! ❤️ God bless you all!!
You are in my prayers as you take on this additional challenge.
Hi Friends! The other day I was driving home from work and all the sudden I got a strong desire for orange chicken. 🤦♀️ Funny thing is I never crave chicken at all. I am not much of a meat eater so this craving came as a surprise to me. I feel great and I was happy as well because my cravings seemed to be going away. I will say, at work I had to package homemade chocolate cookies for a client into ziplocks bags but the whole time I was praying to God. Not once, did i have any desire to indulge in a cookie! That was a TRUE miracle!! 🙌🏼 To be completely honest ladies, this reading was extremely hard for me today. When asked would foregoing coffee make me a basket case (I changed the word dessert to coffee), I replied YES!!! Would taking away coffee devastate me? YES!! I’ve tried in the past to completely stop drinking coffee and I always go running back because I get cranky in the morning without it. By 11am, I am ready for a nap if I have not had my morning cup of Joe. It’s an idol. I was afraid that this was the next thing that was going to be taken away but I know it is what’s standing in the way between God and I. I have to completely depend on Him and allow Him to sustain me through the day instead of relying on coffee to keep me awake and in a good mood. Please ladies pray for me! I pray Jen that you feel better and for His strength as we go through this 40 day fast. God bless you ❤️
Wow dear friend! Coffee can be really hard to let go of. We will keep you in prayer as you take on this endeavor with Christ by your side. How exciting though that you didn't have any cravings when facing sugar, literally. God is so good. Thank you for your prayers, with God's strength we will get through this together.
My goodness! This book is hitting all my sweet spots. First sugar, then my phone and now my shopping therapy 😆
No kidding! I totally feel the same way. I LOVE Target! Lol
This is a tough one for me. As I mentioned in the last video, I feel like my phone in general was a huge distraction for me but then God showed me a specific area last night: UA-cam! I was going to comment on this video last night but got sidetracked by watching a different video. I realized UA-cam was another thing in my life that I often allow pull me away from spending time with my Father, at times. I will watch a sermon and worship videos but I find myself getting lost in UA-cam longer than I should. I am always looking for a new recipe to try, creating the next amazing craft or budgeting and personal finance videos. I know this will be a challenge for me but I can do all things through Christ who strengths me! Phil 4:13 I vow for the reminder of the fast, after getting home from work I will put my phone in my office, charge it and check in here before bed and leave it there until morning. Lord, give us the strength! I am praying for you ladies! God bless you all ❤️
Day 15 for me
Yay! We made it to Day 14! High five!! Thank you Lord for giving us the strength. For my husband and I, we usually celebrate Valentine’s Day with a candlelight dinner at home and a fancy dessert ☺️ I went into a few stores this weekend and had to keep looking straight because right in front of the stores they put up all of their pretty displays of Valentine’s Day candy. So tempting!! Valentine’s Day candy is never really a temptation for me but it seems to be now that I am fasting. As soon as I read this chapter, I knew exactly what I am turning to. My phone. It is so sad to say but I feel like my schedule has been busier with phone calls, text messages and emails and I have been feeling like I am on my phone constantly. The other day, My husband remind me of my most important house rule. No cell phones at the table during meal times. It is very important to me to talk and focus on whoever I am sharing a meal with. I followed this rule for several years and here I was breaking my own rule. Anytime I hear my phone ring or vibrate I have to check who it is. I think I try to justify it because I am in contact with our group leaders from the church. I know I need to lay my phone down. I will keep you ladies in my prayers! ❤️
Yes the phone is so addicting. We too have that rule, also no tablets or ipads at the table, for our kids. We try to engage in conversations as a family at that time. Keep going, you're doing great!
Happy Belated Birthday!!!!🥳 I pray that God continues to shower you with many of His blessings for years and years to come! 🎉 So far, I have notice my trigger is stress. It’s so awesome to know that God gives us an out. I do not want to self medicate no more with sugar. It is like a drug for me because every few hours I would crave a sweet treat. I am also praying that God will continue to reveal to me if there are any more triggers. I am praying for you ladies!! God bless you all 🤲🏻
That is so awesome you had a surprise birthday party. That is the best kind of party! 🎉. Happy 40th!!! I really enjoyed this chapter. This really hit home for me. I too suffered from a poor body image. Your are absolutely right! Start with God in your heart first. I tried to lose weight in my own strength in the past only to fail every single time. After several failed attempts, I realized I had never asked God for His help in that specific area of my life. Once I finally surrendered ALL my burdens and struggles ( especially my weight struggle) to God, I began to see a shift and He started to change my life. He is such an amazing father! I am a living witness to this message. The good thing now is that I know my worth and it does not come from a billboard or social media or man. It is a process and one that I am still walking with God through now. Yes it may get hard some days but for me that’s when I pull out my list of scriptures and remind myself who I am in Christ! I am praying for you ladies! Stay strong!!
Thank you for your openness and thank you for going on this journey with me and everyone else. Blessings to you and have an amazing day.
Amen that was my favorite song when I was a kid! I will experience joy by speaking gratitude and helping others. I started a gratitude journal because I never want to forget what God has done for me. Sometimes when the business of life happens fear and worry start to creep in so it nice to be able to look back and see all the ways that God showed up in my life. Not just for the big miracles but for the small details on my life too.
I totally agree. My husband and I have a financial practice and in every one of our meetings we start off with gratitude. It helps others to see that we always have something to be grateful for even when we have hard days. A great book for this is Ann Voskamp's book one Thousand Gifts. It really helped to get me started with journaling again.
My church started 21 days of fasting and prayer as a church the day before you started this fast. I prayed to God asking what I should fast from and what my fasting should look like. Well less than 12 hours later a get an advertising email for this book in my inbox. The most amazing part is a week prior I had a feeling deep down inside that God was calling me to fast from sugar and for me that email was confirmation what He had already put in my heart. Since I have never participated in fasting past 21 days before, I thought It would be great to walk along side someone else who is on the same fasting plan to encourage me and keep me accountable… and that you have done my friend! I knew this was going to be a very challenging fast for me. I am in a Bible study group and since we know we are fasting together as a church we try to encourage and uplift each other to keep going even though we are all fasting from something completely different from each other. They are ending their fast at 21 days and I am going strong for 40. This sugar fast has been a huge blessing to my life. All glory to God!!! I am learning so much and can feel myself drawing closer to God and deepening my relationship with Him. Thank you for sharing that passage from Lysa’s book. That was so good! I pray you ladies have a blessed night 🙏🏼 ❤️
Thank you for your words. I love your testimony and because you followed God's calling He has great things in store for you. May God bless your day.
Don’t worry Jen my hair looks the exact same way today. 😆 It was just one of those busy days today. It is funny that she mentions we are hungry people because I am always thinking about the next meal. I can relate on so many different levels. I do have to admit though that I am actually motivated by what fun activity is next. I love to travel and go around to different cities to explore. My prayer for tonight is that I hunger for what God hungered for and my heart for the world will be transformed to look like His. I am also praying that God will use me to share the good news to someone this week. I pray you have a blessed night! God bless you ladies 🤗
I absolutely love to travel, actually one of my favorite things to do is find different places I can buy dark chocolate. The kind that is deep dark with minimal sugar and no dairy. It's amazing the different tastes from different countries. It's quite fun. I love to cook, we rarely eat out, so food is a passion of mine. Sugar is my vice. Thank you for your thoughts. Have a blessed and beautiful day.
For the past week, during the work week I have been eating overnight oats with blueberries, apples and sliced bananas. I also add cinnamon and a splash of unsweetened coconut milk. It’s so good! It is so quick and easy and the best part is I don’t even have to think about what I am going to eat for breakfast during the week. This weekend I switched it up and ate scrambled eggs with sauté veggies and sliced avocado. It was delicious! I can definitely relate to her when she says it’s often in the midst of real life stress that She forgets to lean on the real Life Giver. I realized the other day when work became too stressful the first thing I wanted to do was run to the nearest store and purchase a soda. When life gets busy and stressful that’s when I find I tend to want to lean on sugar. Now I can the pattern. I wanted to relieve my stress the same way I always have but God showed me that day what it means to truly lean on him. She also mentions sometimes needing an afternoon coffee with highly sugared creamer to boost her adrenaline and give a surge of dopamine. She gets me! I had those evening more times than I like to admit. I highlighted No one else and nothing else was created to carry my weight. Thank you Lord that I can cast my cares on You because you care for me! Thank You for helping me stand strong against my sugar craving today and for drawing me closer into a deeper relationship with you. We love you! God bless you friend and I am praying for you!
He is our real Life Giver! He takes our brokenness and transforms us into His strong daughters of Christ. I love your idea to add sautéed veggies to the eggs. I can't have avocado, but my kids would sure love that. Thanks for the idea. Yay for oats and routine. Have a blessed one.
Thank you, sister, for sharing this part of your life. I most love your heart wanting to crave our Father instead of craving sugar!
I want to feast on His word all the days of my life. I never want to put anything before Him ever again. I crave a deeper relationship with Him and I know He is going to set me free from my sugar sugar addiction. I am going to write that small yet powerful prayer in my heart and pray it everyday. Lord, help me to hunger and thirst for Your righteousness more than anything else. Today was a busy day for me so I didn’t have any time to stop and think about sugar. No cravings today. Thank you Jesus! 🙏🏼
I love your intentions. I will keep you in prayer as you continue this fast. God is good.
Amen those words just came out of my mouth earlier today. When I finished this fast I am going straight to Starbucks and get my favorite coffee (loaded with sugar. I was standing in my kitchen and thought to myself no the is has to be a lifestyle change. I looked at my bibles in on kitchen counter in a pretty little cake stand.
This chapter came right on time. I know the enemy has been working so hard to disrupt my life at work. I notice since the beginning of this fast the small inconveniences seemed to increase throughout the week. I knew the enemy would try and come for me because of my obedience during this fast but I am ready. I put on the full amour everyday. I loved the idea to imagine holding my helmet of salvation in my hand filled to the brim with the cleansing and protective blood of Christ. That is so powerful. Today was a great day! No cravings! Yay!!! Thank you Jesus! I pray we stand strong and that no weapon form against us shall prosper. In Jesus’ sweet mighty name. Amen Have a blessed weekend!
Yay for no cravings! The devil is hard at work, but our God is protecting His children. Keep steady, with God you will win this race.
I loved that idea of stacking my Bibles on a cake stand. I am going to try that. It is a beautiful reminder to feast on His word and I need a reminder of God’s sweet presence and faithful promises. Today was a hard day. I had one of those days at work where if anything can go wrong it will and the result of that was an intense craving for my favorite soda. I was so tempted to stop and purchase one but I had to remind myself where does my help come come! There is so much power in the name of Jesus! I prayed and worshipped all the way home. I usually read a psalm and pray before leaving to work. In the car I listen to a sermon and pray. At work I listen to worship music. I have noticed my mood is off when I do not play worship music throughout my day. In the evenings I read my Bible and a woman’s devotional and before bed my husband and I read a couples devotional and a chapter of the Bible together. Right now we are in 1 Peter. I like how she mentions she fasts 40 days a few times a year. Not that she wants to but needs to because flavor fades and the things of this world attempt to crowd him out again. So true! I am now craving a feasting life that will change my life!!!! Thank you Jesus 💚
I love your routine, it's beautiful and I am sure God is pleased with not only your decision to resist temptation, but to praise Him all day long. It is a great joy to know Him. May God continue to bless you as you fast, pray and praise. Keep feasting on His word.
Even the impossible- Mack Brock Surrounded- Michael W. Smith See a victory- elevation worship I love worship music! Those 3 songs has gotten me through the toughest battle of my life. Even the impossible was on auto repeat the other day when an overwhelming sense of tiredness and craving came over me. I would have to say my biggest fear right now is failing and caving into temptation. A couple weeks ago my husband and I tested positive for Covid and we ordered groceries and had them delivered on our porch. We loved it! I may do that all throughout this fast because I know the struggle is gonna be so strong going into the grocery store and passing all those sweet treats. Who’s idea was it anyway to put the bakery by the produce section? 😁
Love those songs! Thank you for sharing. It is very tough to resist temptation especially if you are walking down the middle of it... Lol The grocery store is riddled with candy this time of year, for Valentines day. So I think it's smart that you order your groceries in. Keep up the good work. God can get you through this.
Thank for being open and honest where you stand with God today. That really spoke to my heart and I never thought of it that way having a stronger desire for sugar than God. It is only Day 2 and this fast has been a huge blessing. It is a true eye opener. I never would of thought that sugar was a stronghold for me until having to let it go for 40 days. Never would it cross my mind that I placed anything before God especially sugar. Todays cravings have not been too bad. I had a craving in the morning at work but it went away a few minutes later. I played worship music and gave Him praise because blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. Psalm 34:8 😁
I am noticing that my sugar cravings are occurring more in the AM. On a typical day this is when I would consume most of my sugar intake. It does get extremely tough with co-workers bringing in sweets to work and insist on sharing. My mood has not changed but I find myself more tired than usual. I can definitely relate to the busyness of life and not slowing down to hear God speak. This is my main struggle for me right now trying to manage my time to get everything I need to get done for the day. I feel like God is always listening to my prayers but I don’t always stop and listen to him speak. During this fast, I am trying to keep my mind busy by staying in the word, worshipping, praying and daily devotionals any chance I get usually to and from work. After work while cooking, cleaning and laundry I usually have a sermon playing to help me keep my eyes fixed on Him. This fast is hard but I know it is so worth it! Lord, thank you for what you are about to do in our lives. I am placing my soles of my feet on Holy ground. I am blowing my horn and shouting your name because you are setting us free! Amen Stay strong ladies! We are going to make it! 💚
I started on the 1st. It’s my second year. I decided to fast coffee and wine also. It’s been very hard but Jesus is awesome and I am really feeling the difference. Wishing you all the best. His Bless you🙏💙🇮🇱
Coffee would be hard for me. I may choose to add that next time. Wishing you the best as well. God is good and with Him we will prevail.
Hi ladies! I am so excited to have someone along with me for the journey. I will be eating fruits and vegetables as well due to the fact I am also eliminating meat along with refined sugar for the next 39 days. My giant sweet tooth started in my early 20’s and has been on going for the last 15. It’s sad to say but If it were up to me I would rather eat sweet treats than actual food. I knew God was calling me to fast from sugar. I tried dieting and cutting down my sugar Intake due to health reasons but would always fall short a couple months later. Now I realize I was trying to do it in my own strength. I never realized sugar was my go-to before God. Wow! I am ready for God to work a miracle in my life and break the chains of my sugar addiction. First day started a little rough! On Day 1, I felt extremely tired midday because I did not have my coffee in the morning (typically loaded with sugar and I do not like my coffee black). That’s when I decided to sit before God and ask Him for his supernatural strength to get me through the day. Almost immediately I felt awake and refreshed!! I developed a headache towards the end of the day and my cravings seems to intensify towards the evening. Overall, it was a good day! I am praying everyone stays strong! God bless ❤️ Phil 4:13
What an amazing testimony, thank you for sharing. This is going to be tough but so good.
Sorry, not the best videoing today. But the sun was shining! Yay!
“Rather than substituting one treat for another, allow yourself to go hungry. Treat yourself to more of God in lieu of food. You are fasting so that you might learn to feast on Him.” -Wendy Speake So good! Hebrews 13:9 AMP
Count me in! I’m going to start on the 9th
I love the 40 day sugar fast and I have been doing yoga enemas and yoga for detoxing, fitness, health and wellness since 1995 when I was 13 years old.
Practicing daily gratitude and appreciation is really important.
Excited for this study!
