Maddie is protecting her kids from the disappointments that she knows well. By cutting off communications with Robyn and Kody, Mykelti is protecting herself and her kids too. BTW, Maddie and Robyn never had a good relationship. Maddie accepted that Robyn was round. Maddie rolling her eyes, biting her tongue on occasion and giving shade was obvious. Robyn is deluding herself. She does not pick up on social cues or that she does not have a relationship with Maddie.

You stated that men don't want to be the one to break up with a woman. It's even more difficult in their religion because the husband is not permitted to end the marriage; only the wife can. The only way a husband can get rid of a wife is by treating her so badly that she'll decide to leave. I think that Kody finally told her that he no longer wanted to be married to her last season was because he was questioning his religious beliefs by that time. Meri didn't act prior to that because she's loyal and just took the abuse rather than leave. Meri's lucky to be free of that man!
