Travel Vlog - Taking Friends to My Favorite City in Vietnam
People always say: “If you want to be happy, spend your money on experiences rather than material goods.” But experiences are so fleeting, it sometimes feels like I’m throwing my money down the drain. How can I maximize the happiness that I get from my spending?

Good for you, Joseph. Your story about achieving your goal was inspiring. It resonates with mine, but I didn't win the race yet. Thank you for sharing the 'work experience' website. I didn't know about them, and I think they're exactly what I need right now
He's at Akuna capital
These the same mfers who be like:" i dont have a degree cs but i have a degree in math". Yeah no shit you got a job without cs degree
Hey joseph what the name of your company in which you are working on
Gonzalez Charles Walker Mary Walker Michael
Wilson Kimberly Anderson Kevin Lopez Elizabeth
how did you land your first role?
oh just noticed you're not there anymore. i wonder if they ever got the OKR for clean and easy to access data every completed. lol
Such a helpful video! I def plan on applying to recurse center, do you have any tips for the interview process?
How many hours would you say you were doing daily on average throughout this time frame (Seems like sep 2020 -May 2021)? I am 35 doing a career shift, and I need to be working at least part time so I will most likely only be able to put n 4 or so hours a day m-f and more on the weekends.
probably about 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 5 months. April and May were mostly interviews. Good luck with the career switch!
Amazing joseph. thanks for providing quality video, most importantly the important steps you took like what exactly needed to get the interview and pass the interview.
Doesn't look like you needed to be at the office at all.
Never said how long did you end up self studying?? Before the practical
I spent around 3 months studying and another 3 months at Recurse Center
Very helpful! I didn't know about the collaboration websites to get 'real work experience', so thank you for that!
how you got the interview though of having an aeronautics degree in your resume?
Can you please tell me the name of the office
Is that akuna optiver or citadel?
02:20 my boi has an hickey
Wait, no salsa dance!? Kamsamidah
Akuna?
Looks like you're of Asian descent, I wasn't born in America.
“i graduated with a degree in Aerospace engineering” - yep, i’ve watched enough. pretty obvious why u got a job without CS degree / bootcamp.
Which programming language did you go with for the coding interviews? Btw, really loving your channel! Hope you can post more often.
Why go into an office? Can't you just work from home?
why not? it's like 2 blocks away :) I'm WFH now and sometimes I'm missing going to office.
hey can you make video on compelete roadmap to get job in HFT
which company is it? trading companies are like craaaazy difficult to get in. you must be really smart dude
he flashes an akuna backpack in the vid
Wow! would love to be an intern here!
what kind of project should we do to get a SDE job at trading firm?
Would like to see the same video but in Chicago winter.
great idea! I'll keep this in mind
thank you so much this cleared my doubts I was having
I've always wanted a video like this! The HFT world is quite secretive, and this video provided a fantastic glimpse into it, including the work culture. The video editing and choice of music were spot-on, which is often lacking in similar videos.
vậy khi đi phỏng vấn họ yêu cầu bằng cấp thì anh trả lời như thế nào ?
hey man, love your videos, you should post more ! Do you have social media too ? Like tweeter/instagram ?
I'm just curious, do you guys really get the profit by implement strategy on trading, if yes, why you guys dont just copy those code and run on your own PC get your own profit ?
1st. Because profitable trading strategies are not just a few lines of code, plus even if that were possible, you would be imprisoned and then sued by the company, as has happened in many cases. See Bloomberg articles on this. 2nd. Many trading companies run HFT strategies - it's just not possible to run these on your own PC. 3rd. You're risking your own capital, and a specific strategy usually is not profitable for such a long time. 4th. Lack of infrastructure. Similar to 2nd point. Overall it's just better to pick stocks for long-term investment in personal accounts.
@@Lambyyy thanks, I think lack of infrastructure is the top reason
You are only 24 and already conduct interviews? That's Crazy man! I'm 25 mid-level, and only tech leads are doing this in the company that I work for.
haha I guess we're just given a lot of trust at my company
@@joseph-tran trust and fat stacks
he is an asian bro
@psyvatordarkpsy5284 i wouldn't worry much as at least your company didn't layoff 30% of it's workers in 2023 and again in 2024 which is what this company did.
@@PerriPaprikash now he works for citadel, so it turned out good for him!
that's sooo 👌
Looks nice. I spent some time as a SWE intern in the trading division of a famous investment bank. I think I would've prefered working at a trading firm like this.
yo dawg i was gonna ask. is wfh tech-bro + living here the play if im viet
I guess if you're fine with the weather, but I personally can't deal with the hot and humid weather all year round
I started working at software engineer at Booz allen Hamilton a year ago while my security clearance was on the process. why you had to wait that long !!!! ? I am also a self taught gradudated with bachelor in civil engineering. thanks for sharing such amazing contents
So, don't need a Engineering degree to be a software developer
You dont need it.
@@gabrielfono844 what about job?? Various company mention that applicants should have a CS degree or graduate from related fields... I want to know that Cz I'm from English literature Department, but love programming and want to make a career over this 🥺
@@amenasultanaoishe I think you are from Bangladesh. And yes companies put that in requirements. I am a BBA student and thinking about learning to code. But feel low when see companies put that in requirements.
@@abhimanyunath2001 Why should we must have to work in Bangladesh 😉
YOu seem to have really good wlb
The question should be why I chose to become slave ?
How many hours a day did you study/practice brother?
around 6-8 hours
@@joseph-tran thanks J, tryna follow in your footsteps.
cool!!
Can u refer me in your company
A hidden gem thank you!!
Love the video bro! Ur life (looks) very peaceful and beautiful..ur apartment is very nice love the views and love from Atlanta ga ❤️
Its like saying: How I became a Surgeon or a Civil Engineer without a Degree. Please, lets make a distinction between a Software Developer, and a Software Engineer. A Software Engineer is a protected title in countries like Canada and the US. To become a Software Engineer in Canada, you have to: 1. Earn a 4 year accredited BEng in Software Engineering. 2. Join a Professional Society. 3. Acquire 4 years of supervised experience. 4. Pass a Certification Exam. 4. And finally, be Licensed to practice as a PROFESSIONAL Software Engineer. What this means is that when I make a software update to a critical system, for e.g. a Rail Terminal Management Software System, I Endorse that update with my Official Stamp: So that in case my update screwed up, they come after me and screw me. Thats how serious it is to call yourself a Software Engineer. You are a Programmer(or a Software Developer at the very best).
Name checks out lol
He’s a software engineer. Cry some more.
Stop gate keeping
😂😂😂. What u will learn in 4 years from college after spending thousands someone can learn more than that within 1.5 year from online either for free or just a fraction of cost I mean the practical job oriented knowledge. Yes the college will give opportunity to networking and many soft skills . In my country CS grads have to do extra courses before applying for their jobs . There are only few handful of CS related courses they are taught . Like 2 programming languages, DBMS, Networking, OS , Graphic Design, DSA , Etc . And they can't even complete them properly because they have to study 8 subjects per semester. So i think a self taught programer can outweight many CS grads of he is dedicated enough
Hey what’s your IG I want yo connect with you
