Due to the initial detonation of the valves and the amount of metal this engine needs to be pulled and cracked open as metal is most likely everywhere!!... anything else is a waste of time and is overlooking potential futher damage. 4T sump system is throughout tge engine and that amount of damage will be throughout the whole engine. Guaranteed it will require a full rebuild.
@andrewwchernenkoff2611 Thanks for the view and comment. I did a full rebuild on the engine, it started with just doing the bottom end for a guy and he ended up just bringing me the bike and boxes of parts. He is a link to the crank replacement video. How to Replace the Crank on a Kawasaki KX250F ua-cam.com/video/edjadKM1lNg/v-deo.html
The moment you find metal in an engine you have to oull it and split it open. As the metal floating around will find its way into bearings and chew them up causing more damage. 4T are bad for this as the sump system travels around the engine. Where as a 2T has separate sump systems making it nicer as itcant travel from one to the other unless the interior of the cases has a hole or crack in it but then thats a whole other kettle of fish. Cheers
I'm just watching your video now for this build and have to say, your a great grandfather and I'm sure your grandchild or children will love it when they are old enough to ride it!...you mentioned that you got a new crank with bearings as you would have to buy bearings and have someone press them on. You can purchase a crank puller that first you install the bearings into the case first. Freeze the bearings for 24hrs, then heat up the case in an oven or use the torch as you did but then you install the crank into the bearing as far as it will go, install the crank puller (Tusk) has one and you essentially pull the crank into the bearing until it bottoms out and you are done. It's the way larger Japanese and Austrian bikes are rebuilt. The puller in the US is cheaper than Canada but I'm guessing about $60 approximately and will allow you to do your own bearing installation onto cranks and their cases in minutes. I hope this helps you choose more dirt bikes like motocross 2T and 4T as your projects!....and it's cheaper than buying a whole new crank too! Cheers bud!
I am a new subscriber and have enjoyed watching your videos. You made a comment about another video channel operator (2vintage) sharing his lack of cleaning parts, etc. I didn't think that was warranted. I've seen many channels operators make mistakes including yourself. You should never use hardened steel punches to seperate cases or pop things out on aluminum cases, brass punches are a better safer choice. You also failed to insure the parts were accurate before you started punching them into used cases, making the Japanese bearings are now classed as used. There are a few other things I've seen but don't feel it's important enough or appropriate for me to mention as we all are not perfect and at times don't always make the best of decisions. I think next time when a subscriber has compared you with another it's always best to either keep it private between you and the subscriber or publicly thank them and move on without making a comment like you did, as I shared, we all make mistakes and for you to publically call him out and reference his lack of cleanliness was unprofessional and inappropriate. Although chalk it up to a learning experience that we all make mistakes. I hope we all can learn from this, and move on in the future and not call out others for their shortcomings when we have our own. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos and wish you health and happiness, God bless! Cheers
When you tourqed head bolts to 15 what did you do After to get to. 30 I’m confused building one myself
@@smokeyi477 Sorry for the confusion, 15 and then 30.
@ so set t wrench to 15 tourqe them down and then set to 30 and tourqe down again ?
@smokeyi477 Yes , 2 torque sequences in an X pattern 15 ft lbs and then 30 ft lbs.
Hello!!! Nice job you have done...,,,but The piston you put in is not the new one,,,the prox piston,,,,that one looks black already.
10:00 mine was worse🥴
Thanks for video👍
It has euro tailights also
Its worse a year later. Everyone is losing their jobs.
I've enjoyed watching this video but I have to comment and I know it's 3 yrs old but these cases should have been split and the whole engine opened and cleaned out. You noticed that there were parts in the clutch area would say that there would definitely be pieces of metal in the crank which if not cleaned will cause premature bearing breakdown or worse, another catastrophic failure. I hope in the future videos I watch (this was my first of your channel) that you will clean out an engine with these types of failures as it's absolutely guaranteed to have crap in the crank area but you decided not to crack the case's. I can't for the life of me figure out why you chose not too considering the amount of debris in the other areas. I know it would have increased your workload but as a mechanic I couldn't put my name on this repair without fully inspecting and cleaning the engine. All I can say is I hope you did it off camera and if so, then please disregard my comments. If you did please next time record this procedure as it can help those who have this model and need to do a full rebuild. Please don't take my comments as a form of trying to discredit your efforts and the work you did in this engine. I just know as a mechanic that it's imperative to inspect everything when this type of failure happens. It's just important to be thorough. I have subscribed as I have really enjoyed everything else and look forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers and all the best!
I have more videos on this, I did split the cases due to a bad trans bearing.
lol it don’t matter what bike it is you should not be cutting a dirtbike frame to fit a carb 🤦🏻♂️😂
Thank you
Would you do a restoration on my 08 kfx450 if I bring it to u. I’m in NY area. Most of work would be cosmetic .
@@mrjajo1222 Thanks for reaching out. I have a few projects lined up at the moment sorry.
I always draw the limit at 2”. My 24 f150 Tremor goes in tomorrow 12/26 for a 2” level.
You did a good job brother I'm doing the same on Ford Edge That's interesting
Hey.... My ltz250 break light stays on all the time without the light switch on..... Any idea"s what cud be the issue..... Cheers.....
Bad brake light switch
@RCBGarage there's no switch for the back break...... Ye think is it the main light switch I need to look at....?????.....
Hey... Tried looking on UA-cam forra video on a rear diff gear oil change on a suzuki ltz 250 quad sport..... There's non...... B handy if ye cud up load one sometime..... Cheers.....
Can I drive with fuse 25 pulled?
This will be an interesting series. Looking forward to the rest.
Should be fun!
Does your upper a arm slide forwards and backwards? Where it mounts to the frame
No, back and forth play is not good
Great video I’d be interested in the bumper
Great video I have a question I have a prairie 400 and it smokes white when I start it but when it warms up it stops smoking then when I turn it off it throws out white smoke from the exhaust and carb. Do you have an idea of what it can be?
@@juliovidaurri4193 white smoke can be antifreeze or gas. If it’s running good it’s probably antifreeze.
@ thank you for replying it’s running good I drove it yesterday. I bought it a month ago after owner stated it had been sitting 11 years so when I changed the oil it was grayish. I saw that when I drove it when it turned off it blew white smoke out of the exhaust so I thought it was residue from the old oil so I changed it again and it’s still doing the same. Do you think it’s gasket maybe?
Just adding that at idle it does have a high acceleration
@@juliovidaurri4193 Do the test I show in the Video, that will tell you
@ I did the test and no bubbles coming out of the radiator. I do think it’s oil and gas mixture. I’m going to have to look into it a bit more. May be valve seals.
I really enjoyed your video, but the one saying that I needed help removing you said you weren’t sure how it was attached like maybe a snapping in there and you didn’t tell me how you got it off of the front of the differential where the shaft meets up with the pinion
Hi, I did this video a while ago, the reassemble part should show how it would also come apart.
Very helpful
A lot of friction happening when you drove the axle out.
Any way you could send me the valve clearances and torque specs for the head bolts valve cover bolts and timing chain? Thanks
Hey do you know if this is the same vacuum pump on a 2018 f150 3.5 eco boost ? I’m having the same issue but both front tires are locked up and it will drive in reverse but not forward in drive.
How much would that cost someone that has the same truck and year?
Where are you located
MA
Another great video
Did you seriously just put those 2 halves of the case together with NO SEALER??? Man that things gonna leak big time!!
@@drmrsno8333 look closer at to video I used grey gasket maker.
Great video. What valve spring tool are you using?
Do we have a part 2 yet? Great content trying to reassemble my first yz85 bottom end
What does this do to warranty?
Good question
Did you check too to see if the Water pump failed???
Yes, I don’t show everything on video. Antifreeze flowed through the radiator
water pump its 2 cycle its air cooled nice try tho ya fooled him but not me😂
@@bryan-k2b Please (DON'T) ever work on anything, I own. This machine is 'not' air cooled. It is liquid cooled. Which means it has a water pump. Used for circulating the coolant, through the engine. Did you even watch the video??
I know the precision block that you use works very well but a motor builders trick take a sheet of glass about 14 x 14 then use a sheet of sandpaper and fold it under the glass about a half inch that will give you a perfectly smooth table to sand on
I have a sheet of glass for that purpose, this head has a hose bib sticking out. You are correct that glass is the easiest way to resurface.
@@RCBGarage I BUILT SMALL MOTORS FOR A LIVING FOR MANY YEARS AS A KID
Fun work, Its a shame electric vehicles will one day be the norm
@@RCBGarage not really the power grid would not support a total electric vehicle by any time in the next 50 years or so
Oh man you know when the compression test bubbles out the radiator it’s time for a rebuild 😵
sounds like it is firing on 1 cylinder only.
This video consisted of a before & after shot. Why did it take 4 minutes of my time?
Wow. I have the same exact issue... Looks like it's time for a pump.... Thank You for sharing....
My muffler is loud too! Anyone know of and aftermarket for QUIET!
I have the same problem. I'm getting read to change the drive belt. I also bought a new Carb thinking that might solve the problem. But now, from what you are saying, and one other person replied. I'm wondering if I can install like a choke cable to pump it. Mine starts up every time if you start it at least every other day. but let it sit for a week, start griding!
Why would you go 2” over 2.5”? I bought the 2.5” and was going to install them following your video but I’ve read reviews and 2.5” is pushing the limit
May the Lord Bless you I almost cought my truck on fire with my wife in I'm it because it got so hot the tire blew. Thank You Sir and definitely sending prayers your way
Hey man, I sent you an email last night. Looking for a little help with a yz rebuild. Thanks
does your truck still fit in the garage in the video after the lift?
Yes
I have the 1998 yz400f. these bikes absolutely scream
just liked and subbed this is such an informative video and great quality love the attention to detail and throwing tips in there too to make life easier ! will be doing the same thing on mine soon to have it ready for the weekend!!
Thanks for the feedback, glad the video helped you.
Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad that the video helped.
That's just unfortunate. These Yam 350's remained 99.99% unchanged since they debuted in 1987 in the Warrior, all the way until their last year in the 2013 Raptor 350. One of the most reliable air cooled quad engines ever built. Sad to see some goober screwed it up so bad, but the amazing thing is despite it being out of time a whole tooth plus a worn out, sloppy timing chain, it's still rebuildable.
