Moved from Colorado to South Carolina. Now I’m fishing Kayak tournaments in the Carolinas.
All I needed was a kicker... Cawtaba Clash QC 2024
I had a kayak bass tournament on the Cawtaba River chain from Lake James to Wateree. I placed 12th out of 84 anglers with a little over 67" for a 4 bass limit. As per my usual summer time pattern I was on Bluegill beds, the timing was just off and the bigger fish I had seen here were not present. All of my fish were caught on a 1/8 oz greenpumkin green flake shakey head.

The original plan was to go fishing for gar, but I brought a couple bass rods just in case that didn't work out... Well, that was a mistake because early in the day I gave up on the gar and started throwing around a jig. I had a tournament on lake Tugaloo on the boarder of Georgia and South Carolina. This lake was beautiful and full of big fish, I missed one that looked like the fish of a lifetime. I was able to use a Glidebait to catch some of my important keepers to solidify the win and give me another 100 points towards the angler of the year race. Hope you all enjoy the video! @@martymebb that is actually hand made. I cut it out of 8 inch sheet foam and then sewed outdoor materiel around the edges

I know nothing about gar fishing, only caught em by accident. I’ve heard that you can weave some cotton rope fiber around a hook, similar to a jig. Their teeth get caught in the fibers. Nice gar!

Put the board on the base of the kayak and angle it so there nose is sloped downwards, problem solved.
@@matthew3576 the bottom of my kayak is just not suitable for this. I have only ever lost two fish off the board out of two years of tournament fishing.

@@Wilford_j that’s fair a 3 oz bait makes it a lot easier to throw the hooks. I snipped it out it, but It was such a challenge to get those two that I did catch off the hooks. When they get pinned by them big hooks they usually don’t come off. Oh well, it is was it is… still sad about it haha
