    So many inaccuracies in this video. He didn’t apply the shoe he was building and a horse will not go lame for life for a bad nail. Great production though!

    The comma after "all right" should be a semicolon. There should be a comma after "but".

    God I hate this programme. It is extremely patronising and 'Oh la-di-da, isn't it funny that some people can't spell?' I only saw this to remind myself if disliked it or not and I thank it for reminding me I most certainly do!

    Nuclear Forces: … A characteristics of science is constructing a theory that not only it explains the observed world, but it may predict the properties of the missing pieces. How is it possible that by looking at a piece of nature to guess how the other missing piece may look. The reason is man’s ingenuity and more importantly is the nature’s inner simplicity… Watch the video. It is a classical piece of art that is a characteristic of all Feynman’s lectures.

    Sadly, we're still gathering information with the new leap of scientific understanding still stuck in a mollass... One issue is that gathering information now much relies on huge particle accelerators, projects requiring huge resources, cutting-edge technology and long time to get up-and-running.

  • @TroyOi
    @TroyOi 13 років тому

    @sriHKN Well, that's gratifying to know. Unfortunately, the anti-evolution mindset is still widespread enough here in America that the "evolution is just a 'theory'" stance helps propel guys like Rick Perry to the top of the heap in the Republican presidential contest.

  • @TroyOi

    The world needs more Feynmans, especially in this "brave new world" of anti-evolution, anti-climate-change, anti-science know-nothingness. (Please excuse the hyper-hyphenation!)

    Restructuring the sentence so that it doesn't end in a preposition is cumbersome and unneccessary. This "rule" was apparently a spontaneous invention of John Dryden and has no precedent. There is not, and never has been, any good reason to avoid ending English sentences with a preposition.

  • @grantmalone
    @grantmalone 13 років тому

    @atomicmrpelly Well, as far as actually saying it goes yours is much better, though I think the "equally likely" should be retained. As they said, part of the meaning is lost without it. And I agree that the "correct" sentence is long and quite clumsy... but not more so than the first. Sorry to be annoying, but I was wondering why you thought the sentence was "in many ways, worse than the first". Please don't worry about it though, it's not important! Was just interested.

  • @atomicmrpelly
    @atomicmrpelly 13 років тому

    @greyztone It's just a bit long winded and clumsy. Try saying it to yourself, you get lost in the middle, at least I do. I suppose what I should do is provide my own alternative, ok here goes: I think it'll be ok (if you don't like alright!), but there is another result which you should be prepared for. I know it ends with a preposition - it's something we're used to hearing now - in this scenario I think it's actually better.

  • @grantmalone
    @grantmalone 13 років тому

    @atomicmrpelly Oh ok, figured you might watch it again to remind yourself, but never mind. Just curious :)
