I'm new to this franchise, still on the mission of learning the amazing 60km course (this is the first quarter in the video) and finding my most fav bike. I haven't decided about the 600ccm These are the four superbikes I liked the most. If I had to pick one it would be probably the Kawasaki because of its neutral handling.

    I hadn't played EA WRC since February this year. I just fell out of love with it and became engrossed in Gran Turismo 7 and Assetto Corsa on the PC. I loaded up EA WRC yesterday for the first time, saw there was 9Gb of updates, and then gave it a go. I had so much fun and thoroughly enjoyed it. It feels *improved* in tiny ways everywhere. Still a tiny bit of screen tearing (I'm on PS5) but the feedback felt better, the traction on rear wheel drive cars is slightly improved, and I just felt more comfortable overall. I'm going to get back into the game again. And your video was suggested to me the next day, so my improved experience has aligned with yours. 👍

    I enjoy being able to play both Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC! EA WRC has by far the better FFB and steering feel! Dirt Rally 2.0 has by far better visuals and performance! Both games have strengths and weaknesses, both are very enjoyable and both have really annoying quirks like FFB and physics on tarmac. It’s so bad that I just don’t use the tarmac stages in either of the games. I only play racing sims in VR and I have a high end PC and EA WRC doesn’t look good, but the details coming through my DD2 are a lot more satisfying than DR2.0. It’s a shame both games come with compromises, but overall both games are awesome!

      I'm glad that you like the video. The Logitech version is an upgrade for sure. Thanks for the advice on the issue. I tried something like this 20-25 years ago when it was on full throttle. Although the general conditions improved, the joints all around became rigid / painful after a while. I'd be a very bad lion or shark :) But this sort of diet is great on the long run, I just need a little additional balancing to keep the joints flexible enough for playing music.

    • @NPlay64
      @NPlay64 15 днів тому

      I used to be an active biker and for a game I think it was the closest thing to what riding around feels like (what a blasphemy, with a FFB wheel). There are bike games that have better physics models (TT series, Ride series, GP series) but these are rather track racing sims and riding a bike (to me at least) was like this in the video: going from point A to B on the scenery freely, having fun. I think The Crew 1 was the best for that. The Crew 2 has bikes too (by default, no DLC purchase is needed) and is a better made game with more activities and better looks overall but in my opinion its physics is a slight downgrade compared to the first one. Still fun, too. Unfortunately this game is dead since the servers became shut down in March. This video along with my other The Crew videos that appear on Sundays on my channel were shot ages ago and are uploaded for a memento. I will run out of them somewhere around early next year. There is a community movement called "Stop Killing Games" that maybe can force UBIsoft to do something about it and revive the game in a sinle player mode. Either, modders try to set up some sort of fake server that pretends to be the life signal provider that the official server was. This way or the other, I hope this game will be available again sooner or later.

    One thing that would have helped you several times throughout the run: the rocket mech puts smoke on the tile behind it when it shoots. That smoke will incapacitate enemies. So if you're stuck next to an enemy and you can't hit it directly, turn around and fire into a mountain or an empty tile to neutralize the enemy.

    Unfortunately both WRC 23 and Dirt 2 still share the same big issue in my opinion, the simplistic tyre/car model. The car is rotating/pivoting on a center pivot point, instead of simulating AWD/FWD/RWD in a proper way. This is even more noticeable on Tarmac. I wish i didn't buy WRC 23, after racing on RBR, AC and ACC simply don't keep up if you're looking for something more advanced and complex. A 600hp monster as the Lancia Delta S4 on flatout, should be almost unmanageable and loosing traction even on a straight, especially at lower gears. Instead you can just push full throttle and it just accelerate linearly and progressively. But I guess that's the target niche of the game, simcade (mostly arcade).

    • @NPlay64
      @NPlay64 Місяць тому

      I agree on the too simplistic tyre model matter and throttle response of your point. rF2, AC/ACC and even good old RBR are much more precise / detailed. Even BeamNG-drive does a better job I think that has some pretty awesome physics under the hood. EA-WRC just produces a big number of weird things that you would not notice in for example Hot Wheels Unleashed but in a rally sim, I don't know, it was sort of disappointing to me. DiRT Rally series overall still do a much better job as they works rather fine on loose surfaces in my opinion. Pushing a real car to the limits there feels pretty similar to me. I'm not a rally driver but had a couple of fun runs with fun cars during the years, my opinion is based on that experience. But of course memores are not an A/B tests, I'm not a test driver whatsoever just a fan who prefers DiRT Rally series much to EA-WRC.

    spinning out thing is simple, weight distribution, codemasters paid quite a lot of attention to cars being either AWD, RWD or FWD aswell as with the engine placement being front engine, mid engine or rear engine. For example driving a rear engine RWD car obviously will spin out much easily, because it makes sense, turning the wheel too sharply and applying throttle well what can you expect with so much weight in the back and also having power output from the rear. FWD cars also understeer as they should and as they do irl, AWD cars im happy how they handle. Funny to watch rally sim enthusiasts saying some things being too unrealistic like the spinning out while irl it happens quite often when you dont have full control of the car and dont know how to handle it

    • @NPlay64
      @NPlay64 Місяць тому

      :D It is also funny to watch people judging you without knowing you and spitting conclusions down from a high ground but that's community media. So, fine. I'm NP, started rallying on PC with Network Q RAC back in, '90s-whatever. I got my first racing wheel around Colin McRae Rally '99. Due to life stuff and work I stopped wheel racing after 2004 but used a controller in various sims afterwards. I re-started wheel racing in 2020 when my driving license became suspended due to health issues and I just did not want to get out of the practice. I got my license back in 2021 but kept on doing sim racing as a hobby. My best sim racing run was in DR2 where I've been a triple club champ in hardcore mode (max damage, no assists, headcam only) with e-sports guys and real-life rally drivers in the roster. It did not happen because I was the fastest. Not at all, I'm near 50 and slow, I know my place. It happened because I was the most consistent with the least amount of mistakes including spinning and reached finish lines in a good shape during the actual season scoring good points, driving as smooth as possible to the speed. One of my most fav cars in rally sims is the Lancia 037 that is usually one of the most nervous and perhaps responsive RWD beasts. Also because I'm a petrolhead in real life, since 1992 when I got my driving license, during the years I've owned cars that are fun to drive and touched of all the drive combinations that are used in rally. Although I never raced in reality, I've had quite a number of track days and lose surface runs for fun. Now that you know me: Again, my main issue was not being clueless about driving but the lack of communication between the road surface and my FFB wheel in EA-WRC. I'm not even saying that the game is bad, it is just my experience. It's underwhelming TO ME compared to other rally sims. Subjective. Maybe your rig is fine with it, mine is not. In all other car sims (RBR, DR series, AC/ACC, Seb Loeb Rally, BeamNG.drive, to some degree even in Sports Car GT '99 and so on so on forth, you name it) and real life the feedback is interactive, you can feel exactly when the car is about to lose the grip so you can make the corrections in time and re-gain control that you can also feel instantly. Besides, in EA-WRC tiny harmless things that you can safely correct either in any other sim or in real life can lose the car completely. Maybe it concerns only its lifeless feedback with my rig but that doesn't change the fact I can't feel the road surface. It feels like driving on a flat table that sometimes is grippy and sometimes is not, seemingly unpredictable. Playing EA-WRC with a controller made more sense to me. That is a sort of disappointing for a sim that I suspected to feel equal or better than DR series. I must add that as of July 2024, I haven't driven it for a while. On the first place my idea was that the problem is with me or my rig so after this video I started to test other sims and been stuck there for months, enjoying driving. Anyway I've received a couple of great suggestions about settings in the comments that I'm gonna try so I'll make an another run sometime.

    The framerate isn't a problem, the constant stuttering and shadow pop-in is. All in all, EA WRC is a joke. Its nicer features like longer tracks, career mode and car builder are grossly overshadowed by vastly inferior graphics, physics, audio and optimization when compared to Dirt Rally 2. It's not the worst racing game I've ever played but it feels like a downgrade for double the price of DR2.

    • @NPlay64
      @NPlay64 3 місяці тому

      Although I don't see it as dark and I hope that they will keep improving it, I sort of agree. Even though my FFB issue seems to be improved since the last update, it still feels off and it still feels like as if I was driving on plastic foil wrapping. Opposed to this, DR2.0 communicates clearly of what is happening between the surface and the car. A better driving experience, from day1. The other day I dusted off Sebastian Loeb Rally EVO. It wasn't a people's favourite back in the days, so to say. Well, FFB works correct right out of the box and compared to EA-WRC I was blown away of how much more informative the feedback given by the car / model was. You can drive as if it was a car, it has quite realistic response in my opinion. In the case of EA-WRC, I can drive it as a game. The physics engine feels to be lacking. I see it as a feature, maybe it was intended to be a game with a sim coating that is more compatible with a wider audience, I don't know. But for the moment it is better to play it with a gamepad than a FFB wheel.

    I honestly don't understand why it's so difficult to simulate tarmac physics for these guys. The car should be planted. Not slide around like it's on gravel/dirt or snow. The steering should feel sharp and responsive (RBR).

    • @NPlay64
      @NPlay64 3 місяці тому

      Good point. I was thinking about this as well when I made a test video about all the cars in DR2, coming out soon. I have no idea about the dark secrets of a game's physical engine but I guess it is extremely difficult to find a good balance. In the reality rally cars tend to slide on tarmac to a degree, due to the rotating nature. These days WRC guys tend to draw straight lines on tarmac for a good tyre management as if they were driving a tack racing car but as far as an old rally driver friend of mine described, back in the group A days they were chewing thorugh tyres like crazy. They were sliding like on gravel as much as possible, to aim the car's nose to the right angle for maximum cornering exit speed. So, to put it into game physics right, I think it must be pretty difficult. Physics of RBR is a great example, it's no wonder why it's still around. DR2 put the complete emphasis on drifting even on tarmac and maybe it was too much, but as my old friend described, in the case of old cars it still makes sense. Then, a game needs to be sold in numbers to be profitable, and with realistic models I guess 90% of players would total the car around the first 20 seconds (RBR and BeanNG.Drive), HC sim guys consist of a fracture of players who otherwise like racing games. It's always been a debate about arcade vs sim. But honestly, it's all just hypothesis, I don't know about anything about game physics engines and I've never driven a rally car in real life :D

As it happened before right in this channel, if you tell a story that is actually true, many folks can jump on it and call you names and so on. Personally I have no problem with that, I've been playing in metal bands for decades where nasty things can happen among positive experience that vastly outshines the dark sides, I'm fine if it is aimed at me. But when people start to fight like monkeys, it terrifies me. There was a certain (otherwise harmless) video of mine that triggered some people to start fighting with each other. I felt horrible as the whole point of me making videos is just to provide some honest positive opinion about games and equipment that worked for me. You know, talking about some serious matters like, "this game helped my mental recovery" or "that hardware or adjustment decreased my permanent pain", well, these couldtrigger the exact opposite effect of my purpose before. So I'm happy to hear that I'm not alone with this opinion about the PlaySeat Challenge. I'm glad that you like it. Adding some realistic bike riding to a game is not an easy feat as there is no proper hardware like FFB wheels. Using no other functional option than a gamepad, bike "sims" are either too nervous (TT Isle of Man series) or distractingly complicated to get right (MotoGP series). That doesn't reflect the reality at all. As an ex biker, I can say that once you got the controls of the bike right, riding is a sort of smooth relaxing experience, much like flying. Games that provide a similar feel were actually not sims. GTA, Days Gone and The Crew were much closer to the overall experience. The Crew was far the best in my opinion, especially because the massive map enabled longer bike trips like this one in the vid. It's a pity that the game was shot down a couple of weeks ago. I would add, to reduce grinding and use resources efficiently, it is useful to upgrade when they start to degrade (yellow on the map). A level1 structure is always pretty cheap. Level2 gives the extended range. Level3 is extremely durable but it also needs an ample of resources. Fixing timefall damage makes no sense as upgrade 3D prints a brand new structure. Managing this well, by the period of endgame you can keep a running zipline network with excess gates removed, without spending too much resources.

      I try not to push it too hard, just like in real life. If you become overenthusiastic, the car will fly off the road and crash - I love it, so ruthlessly realistic :D Yep I have a 2019-ish Playseat Challenge folding seat. The wheel mount could be better but apart from that it was a real gamechanger (haha) as I have a spine problem. As a complete coincidence, it has just the right angles, putting me into a gentle C position where all the painful back parts become completely relaxed. So my first session with it was sleeping actually. I also use it for every gaming session, even playing a Steam Deck as this seat keeps my back in a super relaxed position, zero pain. On FFB wheel, I've been using a super budget Thrustmaster T150 for quite a while with T3PM pedals. I used to have a T300 but it had overheating issues. T150 is much less responsive but it managed to not to cook itself and I got used to it over time. It is nothing fancy but already has 4 years in service and is still going strong. The $1M question: can you be competitive with it? After snatching 3 DiRT Rally 2.0 club championship titles where the roster included a couple of real-life rally drivers among other guys, I think it can do the job fine :) As for BeamNG.drive, I did not fiddle with settings too much. Perhaps only the force was set to max to this game. This wheel is not too powerful. But apart from that, I think everything is on default. The range / sensitivity was set to 300 degrees, that is sort of nervous for sure but works well for rally where you need quick balance changes. It works not so well for track and other road racing. Depending on the sim, for track runs I set it somewhere between 350 and 500 degrees. There was one exception, The Crew (RIP), 800 degrees was comfortable there for me. Oh, and Mudrunner, the same.

Compared to the Dirt rally series I would say EA WRC is more accessible for casual rally gamers and more forgiving. Sure, KT WRCs had better carreer modes. I have no idea, as I've mentioned in the video I've never driven a real rally car. I can completely agree on the 'lite' opinion, too. Apart from my FFB issue EA-WRC feels to be somewhat padded. You can survive a lot of situations that were a race breaker in DR2. Or DR1, in case. That is not a problem, it just targets a wider audience. As such, it is a much better direction than DiRT 5 for example that was pure arcade. Again, that is not a problem, D5 was fun to play. It is just weird to see the same name as of DiRT Rally 1+2 that were almost hardcore rally sims. Almost, as Richard Burns Rally is a harder nut to crack, not to mention BeamNG.drive that does that on an entirely new level.

      WRCG has some of the best suspension and overall car weight transfer feel of all the modern rally titles. Probably a hot take, but I seriously think WRCG is the closest we got to a modern version of RBR in respect to SOME of the physics. I can initiate drifts with left foot braking/weight transfer alone in WRCG. In EA WRC I'd have to pull the handbrake like I'm turning those weird 8 wheeled buggies that operate like tanks. It's absurd. And as much as people raved about Tarmac improvements in EA WRC. I feel like they ended up compressing the transition zone between traction and loss of traction, so it ends up feeling like you either have 100% grip, or you're drifting 100%. Combine that with what I feel to be the ridiculous amounts of power needed to sustain said drifts. It ends feeling really more like an arcade than even a 'simcade' game. Not even going to use the word simulation here.

    • @NPlay64
      @NPlay64 4 місяці тому

      @@OneRedKraken That's a great tech analysis. I'm good to go up to WRC10 but have no experience with WRCG. I do have some with the original RBR as well as dinosaurs like GTR2 or GTL. Mods keep it alive and around 10 years ago when I tried to patch it up, it became a mess every time so I dropped it and stuck with the freshly released DR1 and played it along with WRC titles until DR2.0 came out. RBR felt great but it was the same for me as rFactor2: an extremely talented but unstable buggy mess. Perhaps now'days things changed so I should check the 2024 state of RBR. Also I put WRCG on my list. As for you, have you tried BeamNG.drive? If yes, what is your opinion about it? Now'days I have an ample of fun with it driving rally stages. At first the balance feels strange compared to anything else but after starting to feel it I'd say I can feel quite a massive chunk of realism here. If I had to name a sort of successor of RBR considering car physics I would choose BeamNG.drive. It's a pity that it fails to take itself seriously and most people regard it as a crash game. On tarmac improvement of EA-WRC compared to DR 2.0 considering behaviour I meant it made several steps into the direction of track sims like RR or ACC where vehicles tend to stick to the road hard and drifting is just a possibility that you should avoid. If I keep driving the car this "track mode" in EA-WRC on tarmac it remains stable. In DR2.0 you can drift all over tarmac surfaces and do weight transfer drifts as you feel but it doesn't feel anything like RR, ACC or the like that are tarmac focused sims.
