    Why do you wait the 5 minues instead of putting on the buttcaps straight away?

    • @danielschank

      Because the epoxy gets thicker and the butt cap is less likely to slip down. This ensures its straight and fully seated. Its not a requirement, just something I found that makes it easier for me.

    Thank you so much for doing this review. I have never tried a sensor and I’m curious if it could help me understand my game better so I can choose a racquet based on data (do I really hit with a lot of spin or am a more flat in actual practice). I have always played with dampeners because I like the sound. I currently play with 2017 volkl vsense v1 pro. Always thought those others sensors are ridiculous because they obliterate the racquet grip (I typically spin my grip quite a bit between shots and hold loosely at butt, often bottom part of my hand is completely off grip so I can’t fathom putting a bulky sensor & rubber holster at end..would be like playing with a 28” frame, and I don’t like extended racquets at all! Great question but very difficult to answer. It can vary depending on the type of wood you choose to use and how much epoxy you add. You could cut a piece of wood to your specs and weigh it and then add 1-2g to that weight for the epoxy to give you a rough estimate.

I tried lots of racquets and went back to my babolat aero vs! So happy! Besides, i customized it taking from 395 to 302 grams 31,5 balance. • @danielschank

      Wilson has horrible quality. Babolat quality is solid but not as good as Yonex. Head has good quality so far and I don’t know about Dunlop. The Babolat VS line has as good of quality as Yonex. If you want heavier balls, try a balance of about 4-5 pts HL or 32.5cm to 33.0cm. It will add swingweight as well but should give you more depth. It might take you a little while to adjust to the new specs but it will be worth it.

      You cannot have the wood measure more then 1/2 inch but personally I like to make mine no longer then .475 to account for the butt cap. If you use the right epoxy and shape the wood to mirror the butt cap shape, this will work and hold for shorter lengths. I find 0.4, 0.33 and 0.25 to work the best as far as holding.

    Hmmmmmm why go to the trouble of removing the grip? Why not put fishing line weight in the butt cap with cotton balls? That is what the butt cap trap door is for. Pop it open and put lead weights in the handle. You really don’t want to have lead residues getting into your sweaty hand when playing tennis. Putting lead tape under tHe grip can do that and can increase your grip size. Lead is highly cancerous!!

    • @danielschank
      @danielschank 4 роки тому

      Lead is only dangerous if you touch it directly and it is able to get into your bloodstream. I would love to see any data supporting your statement of lead absorbing through the grip and if any negative effects come from it. I have a youtube video on adding silicone through the butt cap trap door and sure, you can use fishing weights as well. But if a player doesn’t want to add a lot of weight or maybe they don’t want to impact balance drastically. Remember, the more towards the handle you add weight the more head light the racquet becomes and is quicker then say adding weight at 4-6” above the butt cap. Alternatively, adding lead at 12 o clock on the hoop affects balance and swing-weight more quickly then say adding it at 3 and 6 o’clock on the hoop. Its all about what you are trying to accomplish.

      That is true. It all depends on feel and how each material changes that. Its a personal preference. Foam can be tricky though as its a pain in the ass to remove if you don’t like it.

    How far up do I put the cotton?

      Just depends on how much you want to add. If only adding a little just put the cotton about 1/4 to 1/2” up. If needing to add a lot, then push it further. The key is to leave enough room to put cotton on top as well to keep the silicone in between the cotton. Don’t skimp on the amount of cotton either.

    Great stuff Dan. Tried a few of the ytex strings and have to say that square-x was my favourite. Nice spin and control. Keep up the great work!

      djay197 Glad you tried them and like it. They have some great string and square X is a solid choice.
