Lovely, whilst listening I was thinking that, at least once, both Haydn and Mozart played in the same quartet with friends. Rumour is that they both tried to go for the vilola part, no idea who won.
Mozart did. Haydn played first violin.

Sublime interprétation. Sans exagération, de la délicatesse, de la jubilation, tempo idéal, 4 excellents artistes, quelle cohésion. Un des plus belles interprétation qu'il m'ai été donné d'entendre. Merci.

Ran across them through the YT algorithm recently and first heard Death and the Maiden by Schubert which was excellent. Certainly an international top ensemble. Remarkable also their playing upright as well as changing positions of violinists.

String Quartets playing standing are still very rare, although it allows a lot more expression compared to the sitting position. Very impressive rendition of this all time classic.
Is the the sated cellist affected?
Puts paid to the impression that Mendelssohn was just a dilettante composer. The raw emotions in this music ...😢
