As always spot on.
Your best teachers are your ears, your eyes, your body feeling, your Intuition snd your BRAIN
Imitating is a great, versatile and artistic and sensible way of studying music....this is, who children learn to spaß ( muscle, tongue, laguage placement.....phrasing etc)...BUT it is also important to have the knowledge about what you d and how to use your Tools...otherwise you start to develop unhealthy techniques

Lovely performance Christina Jennings! Also amazing from the pianist, Mitsuko Morikawa!
Well said and beautifully executed.
Так я вот сам обожаю по Вокалировкам играть учиться
How can three notes say so much. Incredible! Thank you! This is so motivating.
Thank you so much 🙏 I'm currently practicing Gabriel Faure' Fantasie in C-Major for an audition, this short just elevated my playing so much.
I have just found your video and I’m so intrigued about learning your technique. My history. I’m a small town learner 1975. No private lessons because they were not available. Just a very nice teacher that got me through from fifth grade to 12th grade. I’m a music learner so I would love to see the written music that you’re talking about at the same time
Sad. If this is where we are as humanity - my nation is better than yours - pathetic. Fact - many non-French nationals can play French music even better. Many times better.
I am sick of prople who constantly harp on how much better something is because of geography and politics. Isn’t it enough to enjoy everything for its own beauty and knock off all this false nationalistic bravado? There is a kid in Santa Monica whose throat singing is angelic.
I dont think it’s a stretch to say French people will play French music better.
It helps that she has a very good embouchure and is very efficient with her air.
A clear and interesting illustration of pitch variation in the history of the instrument. Appreciated.
Thank you! Excellent advice.
The way she stare is so creepy
I would love to have the name of the person "Cugella" spelled or a link to the method you are referring to. I d o not make anything of the name by listening. sorry I am Dutch.
I thank you for this instructions that came at the correct moment. I am a professional bassoonist learning the flute and this balance -issue was a problem. I can't imagine all this info is for free too. Amazing!
Thanks everybody, especially to Lorna McGhee. Regards, Eduard.
What a gay instrument
True, it is very happy.

Bro.
Is that Robert Dick?
Avada kedavra
Guess I need hearing aids then. 😂 (Artillery ears)
I thought it was Ronnie James Dio when I clicked the video on the way to work
I remember my first lesson with Robert over 2 decades ago. It was at Penny Kemler’s house after the LFS convention. I remember being introduced to 1. Throat tuning (which changed my life) and 2. Having “An Actor Prepares” recommended to add to my reading list (which was purchased on the way home) and 3. Spending a few minutes on circular breathing and thinking “I don’t see this one happening”. BUT…. 20+ years later, with growth and maturity and experience and several more lessons with Robert, I can say that throat tuning is still just as epic, I recently found that copy of Stanislavsky and who knows about circular breathing? 🤷🏼
Throat. Tuning. Changed. My. Life!!!
I can’t sing above f above middle c due to a parathyroidectomy which nicked my superior laryngeal nerve. I almost lost my voice and I was a speech/language pathologist as well as a flutist. I’ll try.
This is such a dangerous technique for beginners, that it should come with a label warning. This is how I got a blocked throat in my first year. And boy, was I proud of my oboe sound, haha. Zero support, zero projection, all throat. Sounded great, until I heard my teacher on our first lesson play with a completely different color, twice as loud, twice as long and without any effort at all. On my flute! It took us a whole year to fix this problem, strangely also by "singing and playing", but in the correct way for a beginner. So, if you're a beginner, especially one that self-teaches from videos, run away. Come back in a few years when you can slur up to the 6th harmonic and down again without any variation or effort. Then you WILL actually benefit from this technique, because it does indeed work.
There is no number that can be placed on the value of Robert Dick's teachings

這種吹法是中國笛子循環換氣 也可以用在FLUTE西洋長笛演奏, 還要一種是循環雙吐音。
I’m shocked to like number 3 the best !
What a beautiful tone! That was lovely
Changing embrochure is an important step in reaching low notes in the low brass family. Jaw movement is something brass players have to do constantly (moving the lip forward for low tones and back for high tones) without screaming on the high end or going sharp on the low end. Please next time specify when you’re specifically talking about one instrument family.
Hints this isn’t a brass-related channel: 1. He’s holding a flute 2. The name of the channel is “TonebaseFlute” 3. The hashtag #flute

This was really interesting, thanks :)
Exactly what I tell my students. I have been taking lessons myself to strengthen this skill in myself.
Bad ass little lady
What is this piece called?
G. F. Handel - Sonata in F major, op. 1 no. 11, HWV 369, IV. Allegro I played this piece as a kid, at least 35 years ago...
Thank you. That was a remarkable difference. 😊
