    To the self-realized who can recognize oneness (nonduality) with a simple redirection of attention but who still lapses easily back into personhood (along with its suffering), how can this person practice to achieve the 24/7 continuous (and only) identification with the formless consciousness?

      Who is it that lapses back into personhood? its the mind, let it be. You are that Awareness in which this mind plays all its tricks. If you truly recognize oneness, you wouldn't be able to lapse back because Awareness is awareness and always stable. Nothing changes in Awareness, only appears to be.

    Ummm, "Have you read the Gita?" is not necessarily an ignorant question. There are sampradayas that learn about the Gita through their own sampradaya's bhasyas and they have a completely different philosophical basis. Implicitly, Beerbiceps is asking if the monk has read Gita from the Mahabharata and not the other commentaries. Eg: Dyaneshwari, which is primarily a Bhakti text, approaches the Gita from an Advaitan rather than Samkya perspective.

Upanishad is invoked to declare the existence of Hare Krishna Mahamantra, why is it not chanted in the given way? It starts with Hare Rama... and not Hare Krishna... Why have some traditions reversed the order?

    A couple of these discussions ago there was a question about the importance of a Guru and a lineage, and I think I would like to add to that discussion if I may. You see, it’s not just about how well a teacher or scripture can point you to the truth, every lineage with a long chain of teachers has accumulated vast amounts of Shakti in that lineage. In these ancient lineages Shakti is transferred from student to disciple through Shaktipat, where the student can feel the power and teaching of the master even without words. So there is a non-verbal non-conceptual transmission from teacher to disciple that is deeper than words that is the result of accumulated Shakti within the lineage received by a student from an authentic teacher. Newer traditions lack that accumulated Shakti, of course it doesn’t mean it’s wrong to create a new tradition or innovate but it will probably lack that accumulated power.

      You're referring to our first part of our roundtable. I think you make a good point none of us brought up (or I don't remember if we did, or it was just in passing): "every lineage with a long chain of teachers has accumulated vast amounts of Shakti in that lineage." Lineage matters. Or, a chain of teachers/gurus/etc of some form matters. I mentioned in these talks I had spent some time studying at the San Fran Zen Center, which was my first introduction to buddhism/zen outside of college religion classes and a few pot smoking hippies (LOL). I was introduced to teachers who had this lineage coming down from other teachers, in this case from Shunryi Suzuki Roshi who was tied to teachers in Japan going back to Buddha. It blew and boggled my mind, and fascinated me. I'd just spent about 3 years in the church world where anyone and everyone could be a preacher if they felt called. I knew ministers went to schools, but they didn't seem to lay any claim to lineage no more than my Bachelor of Arts gives me a connection to the founder of my college from 1893. I occasionally talk about this on my channel. "Newer traditions lack that accumulated Shakti, of course it doesn’t mean it’s wrong to create a new tradition or innovate but it will probably lack that accumulated power." Though, I do agree with this final statement of yours too. There are some teachers out there I would put in the top 1% who don't have a direct lineage, but they got something many who have a lineage may not have.

    As Shiva mentioned, meditation is the path to ultimate liberation. This idea resonates with Viktor Frankl, a concentration camp survivor who became a renowned professor. Frankl emphasized finding meaning even in suffering, leading to inner freedom. Similarly, Rumi's poetry often explores the themes of inner peace and spiritual liberation through love and devotion. All these perspectives highlight that true freedom and liberation come from within, through mindfulness, purpose, and spiritual practice.

    Team artem. If you really don’t like that he thinks he’s enlightened and you think he’s not, why do you defend Guruji? You can tell Guruji is immature in his viewpoint, mannerisms and attitude and what he says. Yes young people can become enlightened but Guruji is just a kid still because if he were enlightened, his enlightenment would guide his words actions and personality. Frank and artem are completely right when they say you shouldn’t idolize gurus or people, when they say we are just people essentially and not that we’re not unique and special, but at the same time everyone’s just a person, and still not special. I don’t know why you or anyone else is defending Guruji, cause he’s just immature in a lot of ways. Even if artem acted out, really all he did is make you two see who you really are. Jesus also got mad in the temple when hypocrites were running the temple. And artem is totally justified because of that

    • @TheBeardedMysticPodcast
      @TheBeardedMysticPodcast 3 місяці тому

      I don't actually defend Guruji and said that none of the panelists who claimed enlightenment are enlightened. Now, it is up to you how you view Guruji and I think he presented what he is to everyone just like every other participant including myself. Just to add that I did feel Artem was being condescending to Guruji. That is all. For someone who claims to be enlightened, he was rather immature about calling someone immature 'Guruji'! It is your opinion about it being right to not idolize guru or people but in the East, the Guru is given a lot of respect, to the point that it is the same as God because of the wisdom the guru gives. I don't expect a lot of people to understand this. Artem didn't make me see who I am. My Guru has already done that thank you! I wish you well on Team Artem!

      @@TheBeardedMysticPodcast the Ten Commandments make it very clear to not worship people “idolatry”. Why is this even being said? Why do you wanna worship so bad lol. Just respect and love the guru. Also like I said. It seems like you’re just not listening to clear logic and are stubborn honestly. Jesus 3 times in the Bible basically did what Artems even doing, and artem didn’t even do much you seem to be blowing up what he did cause it’s not a big deal. Jesus “condescendingly” looked with anger at the Pharisees Mark 3:5…. Jesus got mad at the Pharisees because they were being hypocrites in the temple… in the book of revelation Jesus says he hates the people who call themselves spiritual “Jews” and are not.

    Thanks so much for bringing so many briliant people together. I loved the story of Aaron where his friend said I am not going to church anymore. I'm glad you liked my story. I'm not so familiar with Rumi, but great thoughts. The sad part of this story is my friend - who I worked with, rented a room from, talked to nearly every day or saw for many years cause he was my best friend, so I knew him well - is not so good when it comes to self-awareness. Horribly so. That is why I remember this event in our 20+ year friendship so well. Yet, today he still hasn't figured it out that its an issue with emotion. His thing is: I just need to read another book and then maybe ... maybe.

      @@hinduismwithpremananddasbhagat Thank you for sharing more about your story. It's very insightful. It's interesting how our paths can diverge in terms of self-awareness and emotional connection, even among close friends. Rumi often emphasized the importance of looking within for understanding and fulfillment, rather than seeking it externally. I can relate to your experience. I also have a dear friend who seems lost and struggles to take proper action for his mental health. It's challenging to watch someone you care about not recognize the underlying issues and continue searching for answers in the wrong places. Sometimes, looking within is all that's needed, and you don't need to read another book. Your story shows this journey of inner exploration and the challenges that come with it. I hope your friend finds his way to deeper self-awareness someday. Thank you again.

      @@DrMortezaChalak Learning to balance heart and head, bhakti and jnana, self-awareness and not caring, were probably some of the biggest hurdles I had to overcome in my life. (I'm 47 now, my friend is now 65-ish and he's no where near being self-aware ... sad, cause he's a musician, intellect, will literally give you the shirt off his back, artist, but almost all his friends now take him in small doses as his conversations haven't changed. Its sad.). I had someone once say to me she never met a human robot, cause I had no emotions surprisingly so for someone who read a ton of books and was an artist and musician. She wasn't right, but I tucked them away. I didn't want to be all "feelies" (and this was before that word was in vogue), but also didn't really want to face myself. I wasted a lot of time trying to be something I wasn't, someone that would impress others. Then I moved abroad and suddenly those folks I was trying to impress? 1000's of miles away and didn't matter. Wake up call! Self-awareness I talk a lot about on my channel. .... I am aware of Edwin's Guru's alleged crimes. However, I do like to separate devotee from the guru. We were here to learn and/or listen to Edwin. He shared very nice insights!

      Quoting from shastra is important and so is understanding the essence of the shastra! Both are just as valuable as each other. In fact, does Sri Krishna tell us just to follow shastra in the Bhagavad Gita? He instructs us to have our own experience, follow bhakti, karma and dhyana yoga aswell as Gyana yoga!

      @@TheBeardedMysticPodcast I would not first check myself one by one which is the most tasty dish among many dishes..rather I will ask an experienced person which is best and have it.. similarly as you said if krishna gives options to many ways for elevation to highest perfection..but at the end if he concludes and gives us the best and most supreme method (bhakti) 18.65-18.66 ..I will take that..shastra is there to guide me and guru is there..I am conditioned soul I can't just ignore the scriptures and have my own experience..who will take so much trouble when authorised representatives of God guru is there to guide me..he will guide me through shastra..I don't have enough time to speculate and experience on my own because I am conditioned..hare krishna
