came here after the almond video. great tutorials and explanation of the nodes. keep on the hard work :D
Great! Thank You very much!
Nice! I'm struggling with the material, what shaders did you use?
i was here for shader only too, watched the whole video for thar :)
This tutorial does not work, in the first simulation part the object does not grow, but shrink, and the next part is not working either.
Nice tutorial, the only problem I'm having is the normals not being corrected even though I'm using the facet and normal nodes with the attribute transfer. Any tips?
Send me your.hip ok discord and I'll take a look 😁
Dude I purchased this asset, how the hell did you get the textures to work lol they’re all little squares!!!!
Haven't used any textures, only good old shaders
@@dextermotion559 haha fair play to you sir
MOPS is really nice. I find it's especially a time saver when manipulating with objects/pieces.
The problem with using pugins like Modeler is the Houdini viewport, its lacking compared to blender. The shading variations, overlays, and presence of Eevee, makes everything modelling related fast and quickly accessible.... Would love to see a method or plugin to bring in the look and feel of blender's viewport into Houdini!
For me personally that's just bells and whistles more than anything else, what I like about Houdini's viewport is that it s really stable under high load, I have pushed it into hundreds of millions a lot of time without issues. Blender caters to a lot of the hobby market while SideFX have to deal with studios for which stability and productivity are more important so it's normal that they have different development priorities. But with the implementation of Vulcan in 20 we might get a more modern viewport experience in a couple of versions.
@@dextermotion559 I see that's a great point! From a pipeline based workflow their stability focused workflow makes perfect sense...
@@misanthrope_01 brother I'm a modeler myself, I've recently shifted from Maya onto a more Blender based workflow... I agree blender is less stable with greater workloads, I also agree that you'd rarely require a full on lighting setup going on for modeling, but the viewport overlays are a must which Houdini lacks. The base shading in Houdini's viewport is very lacking compared to more modern tools. I strongly feel that for less procedural modelling tasks blender is far better than the plugin, and in context of workload handling, though blender is weaker than Houdini, it is by no means weak enough to be an issue, even with larger scenes, brother I have tried... As for a constructive criticism, I'd like seeing Eevee or at least a comparable alternative for RENDERING purposes in Houdini, why? - because often times my particles need to be so small that even at 4K and high samples, it just isn't usable because of noise or denoising. It's not a Houdini/Karma thing really, it's how all raytraced renders work. I'd rather take a clear render faster and at higher sizes from realtime renderer than the alternative. If you've been keeping up with Blender, Eevee Next is right on the horizon and man does it look good...
Thanks for your giving and helping in discord all the time for nothing in return ! Thank you man
Hey Mostafa, no problem! 😁
Great tutorial man, I would suggest using a mask from geometry node instead of using vdb combine, would save a lot of computational power especially since you and already cached before using it. Cheers :)
Yeah that would be more efficient, I realized that while having to reuse this setup for a project. Thanks for pointing it out! 😁

Awesome
HI; can I ask you how u set the clamp and the fit inside the vlolumevop on the solver? tnx
It''s trial and error mostly
Amazing setup and amazing tutorials. Really appreciate your work and useful knowledges
Hello, i have a question, when i trying split object head and lower_jaw and add 2 null node and type @class==1 i have only 1null - no one object 2null - all 2 object... I mean its didnt split on head and lower, its split on 0 object and 2 object, help me pls(((
Hmu o discord
do to this being a old video i wasted my time like 1years old not work anymore so but i had fun playing with the node's even if it didn't work because the way nodes work in houdini changed in houdini uptade versions
I don't understand, this was made with Houdini 19.5. I haven't tested it on 20 but I'm pretty sure there is nothing that changed that dramatically to break the functionality
How are you getting your UV unwrap node to create point.uv? It only creates vertex uvs for me and if i use attibute promote, it messes up the sim
Hello thank you so much for sharing this tutorial, I'm experiencing a problem: when I select first context geometry in the rbd packed object, nothing happen, I have to put SOP as geometry source to make it work but the whole almond is getting dynamic and doesn't stay in place and the particles are going crazy, they don't follow de constraints they emmit everywhere, does anyone knows how to fix it ?
Thank You very much!
wow this is awesome thank you!
Thank You very much, Dexter!
In the split node, I'm only getting one of the constraints and not the other one. I even input the formula @constraint_tag=concrete_fracture1 like you did but it didn't show the second one. How can I make the split show the different contraints?
Check the geometry spreadsheet make sure it exists and is named like that
@@dextermotion559 Oh it worked! I just changed the "1" to "2", thank you ♥
hi what sop path you use in "rbdpackedobject1 "please let me know i got stucked here
No path, it's just set to first input
Masterful love it, thanks a lot
Really sick as usual :
I LOVE THIS! I used to use a bounding box for the grow animation and it was a bit more complicated of a setup. This is straight forward.
brilliantly explained. cheers, b
But how to render it with textures
The original geometry keeps the original UVs, fracturing will give you both UVs for the internal faces and a group to separate interior and exterior faces, you just apply your materials to those two groups
@@dextermotion559 hi actually I'm new to Houdini, previous i have learnt Maya, if possible can you share any link or can you create a short video please, will be much helpful. Thank you for creating such nice videos.
Hi bro, when i change the geomerty for this, it failed to hold the shape. How can we finish on the finalsied shape?
happy birthday after 6 month brother :D i have a problem in rendering when the explosion starts it mess up everything can i send u a screenshot ?
Hey Dexter, my animated noise is moving way too fast. I have played with the offest expression (att vop). How did you get yours too move so slowly like at the very start of the video??
Thank you for this excellent tutorial, for those who encountered a problem in RBD simulation, I will leave here a link to a good tutorial that helped me. ua-cam.com/video/UOCMAUNQLbA/v-deo.htmlsi=aqqJprYSv-_D1FnY And I will also say that I also added a limit on the maximum pscale otherwise some of the stones were too big. And I used pscale to split the stones into big and small 50/50, so I could use spheres for the small rocks and cylinders for the big rocks, so I could make 100k rocks and it looks pretty good and so fast
Thats Cool! One question: do u have a coding background before houdini?
Only my highschool CS class
Awesome!!
you need to be louder i cant really understand anything
great tutorial! thanks for sharing!
this is really wonderful but how would I make the particles form my own specific shapes like concentric triangles?
Can you do another ice cream from scratch?
So well explained! Love how you generated and randomized the crystals. Would you know and show us a way to work with a logo instead of the cymatic patterns? So that the outlines of a logo attract the RBDs? I know it might be tough to get velocities that way, and I couldn't figure it out... That would be amazing. Thanks for your work!
thanks but please remove the music , we cannot hear you speaking
Hey man, thank you for your comment, yeah this one has been really badly mixed. Sadly I can't replace the video file now
it is very difficult to understand you because of the super loud music. don't you hear that?
how did you add "force" slider to the first pop wrangle in the DOP network? Would like to animate the force on but unsure how to get the slider to appear
come to discord and I ll walk you through it but for a short answer you use chf("name")
@@dextermotion559 awesome, joining now
why do skip transform parts mostly?
i will try this today, thanks Dexter
Keep it up!
Thanks so much Dextor
Yesssss
y not fair :
What do you mean?
Can I do this on blender as well?
I think so, but I don't know blender that well. If you figure out what geometry nodes to use math works the same.
Omg you reply so quick. What program are you using?
Ima try on blender and ima see what I can do
@@caohai8832 @caohai8832 I only know Houdini, Maya but haven't opened it in years and a little bit of Blender modelling
@@dextermotion559 is it possible you can teach me how to make this in different shapes on blender or Houdini? This is ART man. I wish to know really bad. Ill pay some courses if possible.
