mmoris1360 I know it's too late to answer and it has been a whole year but I just found this video! I want to point that The Oud or Barbat is an instrument that belong to both folks because they were one at one point in history when you could travel from Tehran to Baghdad to Istanbul to Damascus to Jerusalem to Cairo. They had almost the same culture and they used to speak more than one language but Arabic was the main language. The word (Oud) means wood in Arabic and the name Barbat is a two parts word the first is (Bar) which means the land in Arabic and (Bat) which means duck! and it was a word that meant when you put the Oud on it's face you will see it as the seen part of the duck when it is in water! What she is playing here is Persian music but you can find the same mode in Arabic and Turkish music but in different rhythms, tunings or styles. I hope I answered your question! :)

@@AhmadHamamah Sorry, 'Bar' in Persian means chest. Also, all musical theme in middle east is rooted in Sufism/Darvishi philosophy. This philosophy is an Iranian/Persian philosophy and is rooted in Mithra's philosophy, and Zarathustra's and Mani's teachings. Of course, every countries in the region play the system with their own specific flavor. And that is fine and beautiful. With all due respect to all cultures! Much Love!

I have Persian roots as well and I am not foreign to this beautiful culture or this philosophy cause I am an Ismaili myself and I first read about this instrument in the (Ikhwān al-safā’ (the Brethren of Purity)). If 'Bar' means chest what does 'Bat' mean? everyone is trying to defend his own culture these days based on the borders that we live in, forgetting that we were one folk one day. بربط this is how its written in Arabic much love and respect!! :)

@@AhmadHamamah Dear Ahmad, Regarding the 'Bat', you are right. It means 'duck'. The instrument's shape look likes the chest of the duck. Isnt it? I am not defending my culture. In fact, I am very critical of my current culture. That is why I do a lot of critical discussions with my fellow Iranians. But I am a man of science and art and you know, science and art and the history behind them should be mentioned without any prejudice and should be researched and enhanced in a neutral way. For example, when it comes to music, poetry, and some worldwide influential philosophical systems (as I mentioned above) or some worldwide influential political (federalism) and social structures (Bazar, Caravan or Early Post, Caravansaray or Early Hostels/Hotels) or some worldwide influential art and architecture phenomena (Garden, Dome, Miniature, Calligraphy, ...), we should tell the true things. For me, nationalism is nonsense and stupid idea.
