Planted shrimp bowl from a different perspective!

After putting my walstad jarrarium on a lazy susan i thought hey why not get one for my shrimp bowl too! I finally get to see the plant growth at the back of the bowl and it looks so green and healthy! I can see the roots going all the way down into the substrate.

Here's a Hyperlapse of my shrimp bowl which shows just how much life there is growing in there. The bowl is 3 months old and started with 9 Red Cherry Shrimp adults and 1 nerite snail.

So my planted, filterless Red cherry shrimp bowl has been running for nearly 3 months and it's now teeming with baby shrimp! They're all different sizes so there must be a few different batches. They must love their little bowl!

Here's my planted Shrimp bowl. It's a no filter set up with a heat mat underneath the bowl to help keep the temperature above 20°c for the red cherry shrimp that live in there. It's my first attempt at a planted bowl so hope you like it!

There's Java fern, Java moss, dwarf hairgrass, monte carlo, hygrophila blue stricta, limnophila sessiflora, s.repens and anubias petite. No co2 used.

I need to get back into creating Walstad bowls. I had one in 2017 and it exploded with life. I set it up...then came the snails(who I Didnt put in)...then came the Lily Pads from my Banana plants. So I added 2 White Cloud minnows, who would not breed in any of my larger tanks. I put them in my little 3 gallon paradise and they gave me generation after generation. That bowl was full of life. Ive never recreated that magic before or since. Thats why I say bigger is not always better.
I share your sentiments mate. If done right you can create a little world in a bowl that will give you years of enjoyment.

My planted filterless bowl didn't do so well! I lost my fish and my shrimp and i can't work out why?
Did you test water parameters? IMO fish produce too much waste for these small filterless set ups. Shrimp and snails are fine though.
@@TheEvoStroker They were only 3 mountain minnows. I think there was not enough light for the plants which started to rot them. I am going to re-scape it this weekend!

Not often at all. Maybe a small water change once every couple of months. I top it off when it needs it.

I ended up replacing the heating pad with a marina betta 8w internal heater. I'm sure the heating pad made a couple of degrees difference but once I put the bowl on a lazy Susan I couldn't use the heating pad.

This was just a bowl that was sitting in storage at my parents place, not sure where it was bought but I've found similar bowls at Koch & Co.
After the first four hours or so the efficiency of photosynthesis reduces by almost 80%. an awful lot of people are attempting to boil their ecospheres with light bulbs lol you're not growing a cash crop of sweetcorn dude lol

Yes it's ADA Amazonia 2.0. No fertilisers used, just the root tabs that come with the Amazonia.
How much watt do you used?
The lights are 10w LED

Not really. I've since removed it with no issues.

Ah yeh and added FIC 1050cc fuel injectors as I'll be upgrading the fuel pump later on to run an E70 tune.
