Kia Optima Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Removal
Переглядів 2,7 тис.3 роки тому
I figured out an easier way to remove these rear caliper brackets, without needing to unbolt the control arm and lower shock mount.
Harbor Freight Mini-Tire Changer modifications

Details on the mount I made for the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Automotive Mini Tire Changer. This lets me attach it to the floor mounted manual tire changer for a good stable base.

My 48 CJ after idling for 10 mins or so. About 150 degrees and good oil pressure. I think it needs a few carb and valve adjustments to run a little better.
Thank you thank you thank you!
Kia ur pushing us all back foreign
Uh-oh... Mine hasn't been changed since at least 84
Time to change it!
Definately helped thanks. My 2008 Kia cee'd has same calliper design.
Thanks for posting this video although I already went thru this literally at 3pm-7pm today is 2/2/2024. I realized the bottom caliper bracket bolt is between the control arm & the control arm mount & I wasn't tryna take the control arm & shock bolt off to take bolt all the way out so I kept the old bolt in there & put new caliper & bracket on. But ur video shows whoever has go thru the same issue with same kind car with this bs wat to do to get bolt out I would've unbolted the control arm & still would've had to unbolt the shock lol.
I like it
Thanks my guy, I was not trying to do that with the control arm and spring.
HF is discontinuing the manual tire changer...i trie dto buy the display..no luck.
It looks like they are just upgrading the product. This is the new model. www.harborfreight.com/mini-tire-changer-58920.html
Awesome!
It's certainly nice when you know how how to weld. Me, I'm all nuts and bolts for building something. I like that. Mine I end up fastening it to my table saw. Works relatively well.
nice work. I enjoyed the video
Thats a good set up thanks for sharing Hope you come by and check my channel out
Great idea!
First like and first comment! Now that's how a Willys should look like!
very very good idea brother Bill
nice idea, Nice shop, better than mine
Thank you Andrew.
I'm guessing since you have both, the larger one isn't as good for mower and atv tires and such? which is mostly what I would probably use one for. Cool shop
It's based on the center opening on the wheel. The larger tire changer needs an opening of about 2". Anything with the smaller opening (like a lawn tractor) needs to use the changer that I modified in this video.
It's a good idea.
I made a 28 inch long piece of 2 inch receiver tubing with a 2 inch inside tee welded on the end that takes another piece of receiver tubing. It is 28 inches long too with my tire machine mounted on top. It slides down in the "tee" and I have set bolts on the side of the tee to tighten it. Fits any pickup with a receiver hitch and the tailgate can be down for a work area. Rock solid. I also made new tire irons that are 30 inches long. Makes the grunt work a lot easier. I also made another hold down that works on top with a rubber irrigation pipe seal on bottom to grip the tire and glued a rubber flat rubber washer on top. It grips the tire a lot better. Work the tire irons from left to right and the wheel will not move.
I like your kitty on mouse patrol.
That's great but you need to come up with something that addresses poor fit of the base to the top as it comes. Thanks, hope you or someone can come up with a solution.
I don't find that to be a problem, but you could easily put a couple appropriate sized washers between the parts and then use a bolt instead of that pin.
@@srlbotanical Thanks, sounds like a start. Might try a piece of metal and drill it to take up space. Just a sloppy design on Harbor Freight's part. Thanks Steve
Very good thank you. I just bought mine today. ( mini tire changer). The saw set up and bench also look very good.
Blake found it
