I'm fairly certain that 35 years ago, if I had heard this powerful song that takes me back to another place in my heart and mind, I would not be with the a-hole sleeping next to me today. He's not abusive, never has hit me or anything like that, but he's emotionally unavailable. He hurts me psychologically. From the start he lied and pretended untrue things about himself that made him this stellar human being and I believed him. I take people at face value, tell the truth, and have made many mistakes in my life because of that. He lied about the everything to impress me, but they were in actuality the things that I liked and he was pretending to share those things. He didn't. I found out later that he and a guy I was flirting with were basically in a big dick contest for me - meaning that they were just trying to beat each other out of having me, not for love but to win the "contest". I fell for it. I'm so stupid. Hope I outlive him.
