Children’s books were made to take a lot of abuse. They are often held together with heavy duty string, Staples and strips of book cloth. I’ve taken apart several old reading books from 1900 to 1950. These have beautiful illustrations. I have more pages than I need. I’d like to share them if you’ll pay the postage. I can send 10 ounces of pages for $3 in the US. Mail me $3. Include your mailing...

A Journal I threw together in one hour!
Turned out nice
Love this methods
You have so many great ideas! I enjoyed this video
Love it!
I know this video is 3 years old but I hope you get this comment. Well you are if your reading this Studio Rat and I want to tell you that I love what you talk about, it’s my dream to have a Etsy store one day I’m 53 of course I’m still dreaming. I’ve learned to make paper cloth from a few others but I love that your making sure your edges of your cloth is straight so that their isn’t much to cut off and your video is only a little over 30 minutes. I hope you show us the results. I’ve ordered some napkins and I have some other paper that I save and I am going to use Elmer’s glue mixed with water. The other glue was too glossy and stick it takes a lot to get it right, with a lot of crafts. So it’s not sticky. Elmers has been the best and the clear one too. Anyways thanks for this video and I am subscribing Have A Blessed day or evening..
I'm turning mine into art journals. I've already separated the signatures and added sketch paper. I'm working on some water color paper ephemera. I love his books.
Love this glue book! Are you on Instagram by any chance? Would love to follow you there!
So wonderful! Thanks for sharing your talent!
These would make beautiful paper/cloth beads!!!!!!
Am I weird for being envious of your scrap boxes lol!
Thanks. Easy to follow and inspiring🪷
Thank you for sharing. Love it!
They all looked so beautiful after you completed your process! Thanks for sharing
Hello there Studio Rat! I am interested in your abalone shell and tumbled glass video. My husband and I are just learning about this technique, and we are wondering how you tumbled both of these type of shells and the sea glass? What is the way you tumbled them? Would you share your ideas with us? We are currently looking into this ! It’s August 5 2023
Love this flip through of your glue book. Well done.
What is the ratio for glue to water?
Cereal liners also work well ❤
What’s jelly prints?
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your talent.
Another tip...dont let that glue freeze...turns to thick gelatinous thing
I really appreciate you sharing this. I first saw this idea and they used a $29 - 9 oz bottle of pva bond and that was the end of my wanting to try it! 😢just way too expensive for my blood. I'm so excited to find your channel and discover I can use school glue! Now that I can actually afford! 😂 although I just donated 20 bottles with other school supplies so I'll have to get more. Oh, well it was a good cause. Thanks again for the information. I can't believe they didn't mention a cheaper alternative because I almost died looking up the product...and yours turned out just as lovely as hers. So school glue for the win!
I have the complete trilogy of G&S and the Morning Star. I noticed that most of Griffin's letters and postcards provide dates on them while Sabine's do not. Could it be they're corresponding through different timelines? Yet alone dimensions?
Hi, thanx for sharing your skills. If you were to put fabric extender into the glue, would the end result be softer?
2:50 I coated some fabric/paper beads with Mod Podge. They're STILL tacky. 8 years later. Wouldn't ever touch the product again (it was the glossy type). May be fine if you want something to stick down, like a stamp onto its backing? but as a glossy "finish" it's a total fail. 4:18 Brilliant idea! TFS 😁😁
Lovely, I thought it could only be done with cheesecloth and tissuepaper.
I love your glue book will you be making a video on how to make this book and binding it ?
I am felling so blessed that I found your channel. Your voice and teachings are so soothing. Thank you for sharing your talents. I’m hooked!!!
RIP Sally, you will be greatly missed! Thank you for all the inspiration and all that you shared with us!!! ❤
She is greatly missed by all of us. I watch her videos for comfort. I love hearing her voice again.......her sister, Christy
@@christysanders4539 ❤
Oh no, she passed away?
@@christysanders4539 I just found this channel, I’ve enjoyed watching her videos so much. I’m very sorry to hear of her passing. I wish you and the rest of her family peace & happiness
Gorgeous journal absolutely love love it ♥️
Hi I’m new here!!! New subscriber too!!!
Would you be able to tumble puka shells? I have alot that are jagged tooth. I try sanding but takes forever
Gday from australia, love this idea, but im not a journal maker, i make/sew bags and makeup bags and other goodies, could i use this to make a makeup bag? Thank you for your tutorials, have an awesome day/night xx
Neat idea . Does the fabric need to be 100% cotton?
do you think i could sew this into a shirt and wash it without ruining it
You can sew it but I don’t think it could survive washing.
The salt ones are super interesting. Kinda like adding water droplets to distress ink. That one paper had the cardboard box lines in it....that can also be interesting. TYFS ❤️🦋💜
Thanks for watching. Regarding the cardboard lines I might try laying papers to dry on other textured surfaces like plastic doilies or stencils. I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know how it went.
Cool papers! I saw a process video like this where she used crepe paper streamers.....they are VERY SATURATED with color (you need to use gloves!) it was on Treasure Books channel. I also saved the little “spent” pieces. Couldn’t bear to throw them out lol. TYFS ❤️🦋💜
This video is right up my alley! I absolutely love collage and using scraps. UA-cam put this video in my feed and I had to check it out. I’ve seen a few similar process videos but yours is very captivating.....your papers are awesome! I plan to peruse your channel on gel printing and “painty papers” & such. I’m dying to try and make homemade paper....I just need time to do it lol. I also like pressing flowers and came up with an idea on how to incorporate them into a project like this. I’ve been saving old sheets and pillow cases...would be perfect for this! TYFS! New subbie here Michigan ❤️🦋💜
P.S. Did you intend for this to be an ASMR video? Lol 😃
Hi Sally, Another great haul. I love the paper dolls. Glad you had a successful shopping day. Its fun to see what you get. Take good care… Love. Dee
Thank you ♥️
I would say you’ve had a successful shopping trip! The paper dolls are adorable. I have the zutter bind-it-all…I had the same debate on which one to buy. I wound up with the zutter because, years ago, it was on clearance at Tuesday Morning. That cinched it for me…pun intended!
Ha ha! Cinched the deal!
👍👍👍
Great idea, although my magazines are starting go fall apart after painting
👍👍👍
Great Journal! I just subscribed and I hope you’ll stop by channel and become my “subbie friend” too!
Impressive. I overthink everything and spend far too much time making anything. Not sure I could manage to complete one in an hour but I think I’m up for the challenge once I can finish off my current projects. I like the variety of ephemera and it adds to the interest throughout. Tfs
Thank you! Sometimes I do like to spend extra time on a journal. This one was made up of leftovers from the 3 other journals I’d been working on. There were some pretty pages in there.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful collection of pics.
Thank you!
WOW what a great haul. OK.. I am flying out to visit you and your daughter. :). Dee
Come on out!! I’d love to see you. We’ll go thrifting.
You’ve got some fabulous finds…I am a book lover and all the ones you picked are great! Using watercolor to stain paper is genius.
I love them too! I gave a couple to my sister. She’s a collector. I’m becoming one too!
Those vintage readers are just killing me! Imma have to break down and go thrifting! Soon! Thanks for sharing and inspiring ❤
Our St Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores have a whole section of vintage books. I love them!
@@studiorat1766 I lived in Idaho for 8 years and there was one or two St. Vincent DePaul stores there we would shop at. I would find the coolest things there. It was definitely a favorite! ❤
thanks for sharing - i learned a lot
