How POWERFUL Is Wolverine REALLY? (Marvel Comics)

A video essay analysing Wolverine in Marvel's 616 comic continuity. I made this in the summer of 2019, and it sat on my PC for one-and-a-half years while I was doing other stuff. I decided to throw it out there as it took a while to research and make at the time. SUBSCRIBE for more videos.

He is a great soldier, doesn’t mean intelligent in conventional terms but he absolutely has strategic and logistic intelligence.

I always thought this….everyone has been trying for his formula and that’s what we got since he is the first super soldier program leading into thing like weapon x etc but never perfecting it? I don’t know…So shouldn’t he be perfect?

You've actually greatly understated Wolverine's true true true power. The adamantium on his bones is slowly poisoning him, which slows both the acceleration of his mutation and his regeneration ability. When Magneto removed the adamantium from his bones, wolverine became incredibly stronger, faster and bigger plus his healing factor went into overdrive. Was literally unstoppable.

I'm not a huge comic nerd, but I was an avid reader in the 80s and always thought he was badass. He was like Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry and Charles Bronson rolled up into a short, hairy brute with claws and he said "bub" a lot and just seemed like a cool, cigar smoking anti-hero. I was the perfect age when I discovered Wolvie. He was brought in so the Hulk had a challenge. When Jackman came in and played him he did a fantastic job, just wasn't physically like him at all.

My head hurts, so a barret 50 cal can punch through an inch of steel, wolverine can punch through like all the steel, a barret at a rough look produces 11,000 psi of pressure, and is good for 2inches? So wolverine is more like a tank round, like literally him punching you is like getting hit by a tank round, in full flight, but he can do it punching, like he has the capacity to punch with the force of tank round in literally the space of a few inches, my brain just broke, i cant maths, but if you took wolverine as having the power to punch with a tank round, you could literally work out what he could lift, im not smart enough to work that out, but literally worked out, he has to hold himself back in everday life, like a crocodile with just over 3000 psi, him holding something would be like 3times the force of a crocodile bite, he literaly has to hold himself back, or would tear his body apart and destroy whatever he was fighting, brings more questions now, his regeneration is more impressive like, if he went to squat a fly off your back, he would put his hand through you, like a simple thing like opening a door to us would require so much restraint, his strength is basicaly he is the strongest, its a constant battle to not break things

This is right in the money except he’s technically more superhumanly fast than strong. Id put the strength at 3 and speed at 4. And intelligence at 3-4.

Actually no, his blades are made of adamantium, apparently the strongest maternal on earth, so he can cut through several inches of steel apparently, thats actualy measurable by someone smarter than me, but to punch through several inches of steel like its you or me stabbing through paper, his muscle strength is like unbelievable, like he llteraly would have to actively restrain himself to act like a human, if someone can do the maths of what say like a phnematic ram and the pressure needed to punch through 3 inches of steel, dont forget, he can literaly do it by moving his arm forward, like high fiving the guy would absolutely cause your hand to explode, sorry, im bad at explaining myself, but he can literally punch with the force a car going 80miles an hour.. hold on going to try some randumb maths stuff

There is no way cap is in the 25 to 75 ton range, even with those MCU feats. Maybe 5 ton range. Only way Cap has more strength is with Mjolnir. He held back the helicopter briefly, but it wasn't like he was tossing the thing around like Thor or Hulk. Lifting the beam off Bucky was just an adrenaline surge. He moved it just enough. He wasn't yeeting the thing.

those feats of strength are SO dumb. that's crazy. he has zero enhanced strength. he's a strong person. yeah. he's like ... strongman competition competitor strong, but somehow with a body builder type of body (those two very specific types of strong people pretty much never look even remotely the same). throw a motorcycle? that's so dumb. what do those typically weight ... 500lbs? Lift it? Maybe. Throw it? No. he's not breaking metal chains either. pretty much every single one of those examples is absurd ... except maybe killing a person with a punch. a punch from him is basically like being hit by a metal rod with a little bit of leather around the end. and, there's no way he's a match for captain america. that guy is as strong as a human can POSSIBLY be. yeah? that's his whole thing. peak human capability. so, as fast/strong/agile as a human can get ... that's him. no one else would be as strong. as it is, the people who are obscene strong in the real word ... basically all they do is eat and work out (like 10,000 calories a day split up into like 8-12 meals). they have nothing else going on in their life (generally speaking). and THOSE people aren't as strong as captain america. Captain America was boosted through science. the only way wolverine gets strong is by .... working out and eating enough to feed those muscles. it's OK if he's .... not the strongest out there. it's cool if he's doing a bench of about 600lbs. that's a whole lot and, realistically, more than what anyone you've ever met could possibly do. captain america is likely doing over 1600lbs (the current world record is 1400). a regular person is likely doing less than 150lbs.

He can punch through solid steel, so basicaly he has super human strength , like to launch a metal projectile through what he punches through, we are talking like he has the explosive muscle capacity equivalent to a tank shell in full flight, just by extending his arm, if you took at body builders, building muscle is basically lifting weights and hurting your muscles then letting them heal? He has healing powers, so basically someone lifting the weights you mentioned, could do it, then have to wait a few days to recover, wolverine can theoretically heal on the spot, like his muscles would be constantly healing, so someone lifting 600lbs and needing recovery time, he is recovering on the spot, like he could rep that all day without a problem, im bad at explaining things, but theoretically with the healing factor he could lift whatever he could hold, his muscles would have a limit to what they could lift, but as he can punch through solid steel, his problem is more like holding himself back and not breaking stuff, like again maths, not my strong point, but you could work out his basic strength by working out the force needed to drive a metal spike through several inches of steel, regardless that its the strongest material, pretty sure wolverine has cut through a car woving at speed, like easier than cutting through butter, like him cutting through things , the strength needed to hold a blade that cuts through things could be measured, like, theoretically he cuts through metal like cutting through paper, if you scale up force to cut through paper, and applied it to steel, its kinda apparnt he is holding back a lot of the times

The thing about Wolverine that makes him scared, is his berserker rage. He takes it, and keeps coming. He is a loyal friend, and protects his friends viciously. There is also his lake of talking it out. Where Cyclops talks, Wolverine just cuts and moves on. It is his up frontless, and direct nature people like. When wondering why he feels little pain, it is because he is in constant pain. His insane healing factor is hampered by continuously trying to repair his skeleton. Getting torn up probably feels better, because his healing factor concentrates on the open wounds, versus his skeleton. I would love it if in the comics they had him use more of his gained knowledge from being so old. That is my only real beef with the man who shows no fear.
