    Glad to you vermicomposting, I also have the 360 and have for quite a number of yrs now. Keep those worms happy and they will repay you with "black Gold" . I like to freeze any potential food till Im ready to feed then, thaw and run thru my big mouth food processor and make a bokashi food mix , then story that in coffee cans as needed. Recently have gone to dry mixes along with the kitchen scraps. You will learn as you go.

    Are you planning to put that back into the hive? You need to ensure that any mites are dead. Freeze the frame for a couple days before using it again. Let the birds clean it up too.

      You're right! I don't put them back in the hive until after they've been in my deep freezer for at least a week 😊.

    • @queenbeehomestead
      @queenbeehomestead 3 роки тому

      The hive was a wedding gift! The one box is directly from Flow. But as the people didn't know hives need two deeps, I bought a second one. The Flow super isn't shown since it wasn't time to collect honey yet.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead 3 роки тому

      Oh wow, I agree! The handles don't appear to be the flow logo. Not that it matters at all it's just interesting. Did you end up getting a flow harvest?

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead 3 роки тому

      I wonder if this is an original flow hive and the 2's that we have have the different look to them.

    • @queenbeehomestead
      @queenbeehomestead 3 роки тому

      The flow hive 1 did not have the fancy handles on the brood boxes - that was brought in with the flow hive 2 (also, there's nothing special about flow hive brood boxes- they are exactly the same as any langstroth hive box). And yes, I got about 20 pounds of honey. The flow supers are pretty cool!

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead 3 роки тому

      @@queenbeehomestead I noticed that my flow hive 2 gabled roof did not fit on my mann lake boxes, so the flow equipment could matter for that. But yes, really it is essentially the same!

    What did you do to make an entrance to the hives?

    • @queenbeehomestead
      @queenbeehomestead 3 роки тому

      So what I do is join the two ends of the fence somewhere convenient to go in. Then when I want to get to the hives, I turn off the fence energizer and lift out the end fence post. They are step-in, so it's quite easy! There are also fancy electric net gates you can buy, but they're pricey, and it's easier for me in small set ups to just move a post. Thanks for watching!
