      also,if you move the dogbones to the middle holes as shown, it allows the bucket to uncurl more and that is better for trenching. with the dogbones in the outside holes, (big holes) its better for curling up loose material like sand or water. To move them, drop the bucket, pull that 18mm bolt, knock the pin out, move the pin to the other hole and the 18mm bolt goes back to the same spot to hold the pin in. There should be some big rubber o rings. All they do is keep the grease in. Its helpful to have help with lining it up.

      Easier said than done- The last 3 seasons there has been virtually no plowable snow in the Chicago area. I am desperate for onsite pictures. Last season I paid a guy in Pittsburg to get a video but he dropped the ball. I have sold thousands and all of my customers give it the thumbs up. Most are repeat customers, so Im confident this works. I tried every reasonable polymer, poured molds, embeded chains, kevlar, cable, machined inserts. This is the answer. Its simple and it works. I have 23+ years plowing. I solved my own problem and its good enough to sell. I totally understand why a man would be hesitant to try this out. A breakdown at 3am in a snowstorm is unacceptable, and thats why I make these.

    Did you make your own rubber out of belting? That’s why you used the middle plates?

    • @3dservicesllc
      @3dservicesllc 2 роки тому

      The choice for material came from a year and a half of trying anything we could think of to solve the problem. The belting came from embedding a layer into polyurethane by pouring a mold over it. The polueurathane proved pointless in every case but the belting always held up. ( we also tried chains, and kevlar and cable. More than 100 versions) It is a severe duty mining belt that is waterjet cut because conventional drilling and cutting isnt a reasonable way of manufacturing in volume. Its also a really expensive process to have done. Skilled American labor isnt cheap. The middle plates hold the layers together for pushing. The center holes are a bit bigger to account for the required flex. When its all assembled its rubber between metal plates and its extremely rigid. There is a "wow factor" when you see it in person.

  • @nicks1258

    The OEM clearly broke because your piece of sheet steel cleanly cut it . . .

    • @3dservicesllc
      @3dservicesllc 2 роки тому

      The metal plate is part of the oem mount. You can't get away from it. It"s part of the overall design flaw inherent in the blade. We fabricated the test rig to mimic a blade exactly. I agree that's why they break.

    • @3dservicesllc

      I dont agree with your characterization. Its like telling a master woodworker that using a hand -plane has no skill. This is still a hand tool and it still takes skill to use it. Anyone that is even interested in just looking at this tool already has the skill to use it. Im a highly skilled metal worker. If you get a look at my fingers, some dont bend, some are deformed, and none of them have any feeling left and my eyes are completely shot from 30 years of welding and beating on steel. I wont let my fingers get anywhere near a grinder. Pro tip to new welders, buy a good helmet, And always use ear protection. My ears are gone too. Working with steel takes a toll.

      @@3dservicesllc It is not a hand tool its the absence of a hand tool personified , its literally buying a nail gun cos you cant use a hammer , or to use your analogies its buying a thicknesser because you cant use a hand plane , i have 34 years of welding since my first qualification im also a qualified tree surgeon gunsmith and blacksmith (yes you can get a qualification for that in europe , and i two have 6 inches of scaring on my right hand and one steel plate in it and black dots in my vision from spatter slag and grinding etc , its not hard to free hand grind but some people either never get it or go right to a jig and never try , its a good jig but it takes 3 passes to learn and requires no skill , you can argue with my opinion but that's just a fact , and you cant argue with facts ,,,unless your American ofc .

      @@Edgunsuk We as humans are incapable of creating straight lines without a tool. Dime on a dollar says you have a dedicated straight edge, arms reach from your vice. Is DaVinci less of an artist because he used a straight edge. When the design calls for straight, than this is just another tool to get it done. Is it the purity of the process or the creation thats important to you. If its the process then ditch your grinder and break out the file. IF its the bringing the creation to life, then any tool to satisfy those ends are what seperate humans from animals. Its building your home with concrete and nails rather than sticks and mud.

    it looks like the shelf is about 1" high. Could you grind a knife bevel on a blade less than an inch wide? I guess you would attach the handle to the magnet so the height of the jig face wasn't higher than the blade? I I was going to grind a bevel on a partial tang blade less than an inch wide, it seems like I would want to attach handle to jig, grind bevel, then cut material away from handle to partial tang, does that sound right?

    • @3dservicesllc
      @3dservicesllc 3 роки тому

      Good eye on the one inch, it's exactly one inch. If it's not to late, leave some material on the handle then shape the blade first. Otherwise I hate to say it won't work for this piece. If I'm understanding your right.

      When I do small blades I put a half inch parallel on the bottom ridge the shim up the blade. It covers the bottom half of the magnet but it's still plenty strong enough to hold a smaller blade. You can use any shim 1/2 inch wide. You can also use shims to change the grinding angle. I hope this helps.

    It'd be nice to have the jig come with the angles already marked on the back. Especially graded with precision between 5 and 12 degrees for knife grinding.

    • @3dservicesllc
      @3dservicesllc 3 роки тому

      That makes alot of sense, so much so that the early prototypes had index marks. The marks were never really in the right place and always seem to cause more trouble than they were worth. It was a tough decision to remove the index marks but I decided that the user should decide the angle they use most by putting their own scribe line on the back. The anodizing takes a scribe line really well and a sharpie leaves a crisp line that can be removed for one off projects. If you need to put a number to the angle there are inexpensive digital angle finders that would be more accurate especially when you factor in the angle of your work table. Leaving the scribe lines off was not an oversight, it was a decision. I hope that helps..
