One of my cousins said he'd left me some wood by the back gate, he didn't think it was anything good but its better then putting it on the fire, and with Christmas coming I decided to turn this ugly lump of wood into a plate for him. I've been playing with colour a lot recently so decided to do a coloured band. Sanded to 240g and finished with sanding sealer, TruGrit Paste, Friction Polish and ...

    Your lathe is way too small to do that kind of work. Safety first.

      @treecarcasstweaking1555 21 день тому

      @@robertcornelius3514No need to worry on that front, I’m well within the lathe’s manufacturer limits with that piece. RP says the lathe can go upto 30”, I’ve got it bolted to the floor and it’s variable speed so I had full control. The other thing you didn’t see in the video is how it was mounted and how long it actually took me. The faceplate used is a 16 hole faceplate and the whole thing was done over the course of 3 days, nice and gentle.

      Cheers David. Happy Christmas to you and the family. To be honest I didn't look, but probably around 750-800 as I had it on the slowest belt setting. I dont tend to look at or get caught up over the number. I go by feel and stability and adjust as i go. I hope this helps. Have a great new year.
