The "tempo" and feeling that some of the palaces are lower by URP than they should be could be modeled by giving boost to econ URP that is available immediately. This is justified as the immediate resource translate into income for next round when used for building. Buildings usually give ~0.5 of the URP they cost back as income, which would translate into 1.5 immediate bonus multiplies, but of course you lose some income from previous buildings or have to have free native biome spaces. Without calculating averages the multiplier is likely between 1.2-1.4, say 1.3 for simplicity, can be applied for all immediate econ URP given. At the same time the later we gain resources, the less valuable their URP is. So e.g. the resources from palace 1 could be modeled with the tempo boost/penalty First round: 1.3*2*3=7.8 (boost to tools) 2nd round: 1*2*3+0.5*5=8.5 (no penalty or boost for resources on next round) 3rd round: 8.5/1.3=~6.54 4th round 8.5/1.3^2=~5.03 5th round 8.5/1.3^3=~3.87 6th round 8.5/1.3^4=~2.98 Above adds up to 34.72, which is ~14 URP less than without immediate boost/penalty. Although this will cause a drop in URP generally, the palaces (and other bonuses) that have more of their value in the immediate effects don't get penalized as much and make the range less wide, which would feel more realistic imo. One could also argue that the tempo loss caused by having to use an action to gain the resources could have a penalty, as it often results in costs elsewhere when you miss some of the better actions, but sometimes slow-rolling also benefits you, which would make the already arbitrary penalty questionable.

Hey Sacha! I realize I made a game losing mistake in round 5 (around 27:00). I upgrade to a useless guild that costs me 3 tools (use 2 on guild + 1 less income) and I ended the game with 1 tool left over. That wouldve been +12 vp, enough to win the game even if you do take the 6 network vp away from me :)

Hi! I just played my first game of AOI and came across your channel while looking for strategy tips. At [2:04:49] in the video, I noticed you chose the scholar instead of power. It seems like choosing the power to then gain 4 coins and extend sailing would have been more beneficial. You could have scored 4 points and had an extra scholar to use in engineering, instead of 2 points from moving the lowes scholar to level 5. With a sailing reach of 3, wouldn't you have been 3rd in area scoring, gaining another 6 points? I'm a bit confused about how the grey player won the area scoring. It looked like they had a sailing reach of 0, so how could they reach the areas needed to score? I thought he would be last in the area scoring. Maybe i have missed something because i only watched the first and the last 20 minutes. I will try to finish it when i have the time.

Can you walk me through the logic behind opening with the downgrade palace, even when you dont have a school up? To me it looked better to build school r1 and then the palace r2 so you get the schools income of (probably comp 12) + scholar, or even palace r3.

1:09:45 shouldn't you be getting 3 power for 2 VP ? Red is building a guild adjacent your school and workshop.

Thank you, you are the only one really sharing AOI content. One thing, I can't hear anything from the commentators in this video, at max volume I can barley hear it. Your videos are the same, I feel like your dog and some kids once in awhile in the back ground are easier to hear than you.

Also a big fan of AoI content, would you say the current implementation of draft has 4th seat in an objectively worse position than 1st/2nd? You dont get to pick early and you are behind on tempo when game starts. Ive seens suggestions of a snake draft which would be nice(1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1) but even a reverse(4-3-2-1-4-3-2-1) seems fairer.

You have to add 0,2916666.. in 4player games, 0,3888... in 3player and 2player games to science steps as they give you vp in the final scoring.

In Round 4 when you built your school + academy you could've taken blue3 first and then yellow2 which would've resulted in 1 more step on yellow. Thanks for your videos. EDIT: I also disagree about digging F5. With your original plan of towning on H4-I6-I7-I8-H7 it doesn't really fit for another town that well and I feel like you could've lured brown over to have a neighbour. EDIT: I see they ended up joining in Round 6.

nice! finally, i waitet for that video - great job! id love to see the continue version with the palace tiles and innovation tiles. since it makes my round 1 feel better... i often rush a palace turn 1 but then u cant make a school so the econ tiles only worth 4 times not 5 like ure sheet .. maybe a separate video about openings / round 1&2 are also an idea for the future? :)
