Celebrate Beltane with us!
Переглядів 182Рік тому
Beltane is here and we decided a 10 at night we needed to celebrate. So we made some lavender lemonade, flower crowns, and a moss cake. We really wanted to do a cool bomb fire but unfortunately, it rained all day, so we did this instead. How do you usually celebrate Beltane? Also, since we went late into the night with our celebrations, some footage got blurry. Opsy but it happens

    I don't really worship a deity. I appreciate the construct that one represents. Anubis/Hades/Hel = Construct of Death Ra/Gaia/Yggdrasil = Construct of Life Instead of worshiping them, I appreciate what they bring to existence, a balance.

    You could always use a cinnamon stick as the log. It's wood..since it'd bark. Possibly stuff the herbs and such inside. And if you so desire, you could burn it up in its entirety to send out any intentions you wanted.

    This was a fun video! I did want to make a note about modern Santa, though. I've seen it floating around that CocaCola invented the modern iteration, but I feel like people forget the enormously popular 1821 poem, "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Moore. He described Santa as flying in a sleigh with 8 reindeer, dressed all in red fur, short, fat, jolly and kind, with a snow-white beard and rosy cheeks. He smoked a pipe, had a distinctive laugh, entered and exited via chimney at midnight, and carried a sack full of toys for under the tree. Clement Moore was writing for a mostly English-American audience of New Yorkers, but he makes reference to old Dutch rural New York culture because even in 1821 Americans longed for "a simpler time." His "St. Nick" was supposed to be a folksy Dutch-American figure, which I think is pretty neat.

    • @sweetbriarmoth
      @sweetbriarmoth Рік тому

      Ohh! That makes sense. I know the poem but didn't know it was from 1821. I think since he was still referred to as St. Nick that's the reason Coca-Cola was given credit for Santa. Just mostly because of the name change and all that? Though obviously they took a lot/all from St. Nick. Unless they say Santa in the poem (I don't think they do but I haven't heard it in a long time) It is pretty crazy how it seems the same character is just renamed and added a few things and they are like oh look at this completely new and original character haha Thank you for adding this detail! I appreciate the addition of information!!

    • @cianap.281
      @cianap.281 Рік тому

      @@sweetbriarmoth You know, now that I think about it, I was wong about the poem mentioning a tree, just stockings. Anyway, they only call him St. Nicholas and St. Nick; idk why CocaCola veered off into "let's call him Santa," that does seem pretty weird.

    Hi! A few days away from Mabon and I really wanna try some home made incense this year. Loved your video <3 How do you burn the herbs? And do you have any tips to make the stick or the cone? Thanks a lot 🧡

    • @sweetbriarmoth
      @sweetbriarmoth 2 роки тому

      Hi! So when I make this I use a charcoal disk and my cauldron to burn them! I made cones forever ago but basically you need a binding agent or a herb that acts as one. You grind them up add a little bit of water to bind em together then let them dry fully!

    Ok, so help me out please. I'm strongly drawn to learning herbs, healing people and animals, medieval therapies, crystals, etc. And, I'm new to all this. Got tired of wanting to learn something and finally decided to learn it, so...here I am. BUT, still I don't consider myself of ANY religious nature nor a "witch". Ummmm...does all this mean I AM ??

    • @sweetbriarmoth
      @sweetbriarmoth 2 роки тому

      Witchcraft is a practice and not a religion! So you do not have to have a religion to practice. Some people keep their witchcraft separate from the religion as well. I personally have no religious connection to my practice. And you’re only a witch if you consider yourself one. Learning about herbs and healing and all those kind of things can be done outside of witchcraft or in it. It’s just what you want to do and what you consider yourself. I hope that helps :-)

    Part of my dream, if I ever get out of my chronic health mess, involves education in botony and homeopathy. My fantasy is to have a dark academia/apothecary/alchemy themed homesteading/prairie & wetland restoration/native wildlife refuge. The setup I'd love to have would include a fully functional and self sustaining food forest & herb garden apart from the native plants, and have a set up for a distillery to make my own pure grain (corn) alcohol for fuel, sanitation and food/herb preservation (along with medicinal alcohols for adults) and to have a steam distillation system set up to make essential oils and hydrosols. I'd love to have a manual oil press crank for nut & seed oils and butters too. I would lean heavy into the Native American uses and practices as that's my heritage, but there would definitely be a magic core style to it all- copper, cast iron and glass with alcohol burners (no yucky fossil fuels!)! Corks & leather, parchment & twine! And everything off grid powered by Sun, Wind, Water, Fire, and possibly even human kinetics!
