Will The Official VGA Adaptor Work On PS1? Well, No.
Just wondering, are all Watchman TVs black/white?
Nope, some were in color
Nice! I was lucky to find a Sony KV-27FS120 CRT tv recently myself that is in good condition for only $50 Cdn! The only downside is it's damn heavy and big and can't carry by myself. I'm using it with a MiSTer Pi fpga connecting the VGA analog output to component inputs on the CRT and it's great.
Hi, thanks for the review. How do you compare those speakers to modern counterparts in the same category? What is your impression?
I think your mat is upside down and likely not aligned with the slots in the platter. That could be causing the tonearm issues. 👍🏻
I just picked one of these up…changed the tonearm belt tonight.
Hope it works fine.
Any of these palyers can play SACD-R? Anyone can reply to me? Thank you.
Where did you get this ps2 a/v input adapter with s-video from
Anyone knows how to find an s video cablw in europe?
What for? RGB cable is superior.
Is there a Sony trinitron 20” tv that had a built in vcr and s video?
Pretty sure there is, but I don't have any model that does.
Is the 27” model too heavy for one person to carry up to a 4th floor apartment ya think by themself without hurting yourself?
Yes
If yoy are using a PAL version the combination is Display + 5 + Volume Up + Screen, beneath Teletext.
Hello! how are you if you are so kind could you please pass me your configuration of the Sony Triniton in service mode, because I really like it looks, and I can not achieve it, thank you very much for your help.
Hi! Does the cable have the PS and Sony logo on one of the edges?
Does this tv work dolby audio ?
Love it
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but since the first cable you showed is a "PS2 to VGA with rca audio" cable, why can't you connect it directly between a PS2 and your VGA monitor? Isn't that the purpose of this cable? To connect PS2 to a VGA monitor directly? Because if you couldn't do that, then what's the point of this cable? I don't understand...
I think you missed a bit of the info in the video. The PlayStation 2 outputs analog 480i by default. I used the other adaptor so I could manage it and make sure it's set to output via RGB instead of component. VGA is a 480p RGB signal.
@@Sonyphile Hi thanks for clarifying. But if the PS2 is 480i and VGA monitors is 480p, then what is the purpose of the PS2-to-VGA cable which on it's own does not work at all? Why did they manufacture such a cable knowing that it won't work. This is what I don't understand.
It does work on it's, own, the Linux kit and some games can boot into 480p mode. Again I used the other adaptor to make sure it was 1 set into RGB instead of the video format component uses. Then I used the VGA cable on a 480p compatible game.
@@Sonyphile So you mean you're basically upgrading your 480i signal to a 480p signal using the adapter. And you're doing this to get a better video display, is that correct? Meaning you don't need to use the adapter, you can just simply connect using the PS2-to-VGA cable, but the result is a poorer quality video display on your CRT since it is displaying 480i video signal.
No
Very nice
🤘
Just scooped one of these as well. Has the orange Sony sticker and a blue AT cart (VS235EP) with no stylus. Haven’t messed with it yet.
1:47 that's what she said
😮
Ahhh yeah, love these.
🤘
Do you happen to know if you can you use a guncon 2 through S-Video on ps2 ? can you do so with just a cable that has both the yellow and svideo out and just plug the guncon 2 yellow into the ps2 yellow video out cable and then leave that off the TV while having the S-Video cable plugged into the TV? if not can you use a guncon 2 through S-Video with the S-AV cable that has the extra yellow in right at the plug before the audio video out (svid, yellow, red, white) cables? I figure maybe that cable integrates the guncon2 video signal into the svideo ....?
I have never tried to do so, but I'd assume no.
lol are you naked?
I picked up this exact model at a local goodwill for about $10.00, maybe three months ago. I replaced a newer 5-CD carousel model (model year 2011, also by Sony). The sound quality via the installed DAC is much better than the newer model. It has an issue where sometimes the tray gets stuck, and I have to power cycle it, in order to get it moving again, but all in all, great model.
Sounds sucks!
Knew there would be that one guy.
Woot
I have one of these with a built in Sony PlayStation 2. Model number is KDL-22PX300
Jealous
My parents had this 👍
Congratulations! 🎉
i don't tend to bother with receivers, but i _do_ tend to bother with old sony. i have the integrateds from this lineup. the ta-f35, ta-f45, and the ta-f55. i would love to find one of the factory wooden cases for them, but i think it would be more likely to take up woodworking and make my own.
You ever find a suitable speaker? Mine is blown and I can’t seem to find the matching part. Looking for an alternative that’s magnetically shielded
Haven't had the budget to ATM, if I do I'll make a follow up video.
🤘
all the memory card ports work.
Is it me or is this tv really long
Not wrong
I found one at yard sale for $1! I love how it looks and i will be using at as a cd player
Good old days when i was 0 years old 😂
How do you make it work? Mine, i think the motors don't spin. I hear a sound of a motor rotating, but the tips do not turn. I have the same one . Do you know anything of what is happening?
I got one of these new in 1983. It must have been after Sony started to put more effort into marketing than general quality. The "Legato Linear" phrase was mostly marketing, but the technical theory given was that the transistor amplifier can have noises due to the way "fast" (staccato) switching transistors, so they try to convince the buyer that a slower switching method (legato) would sound better. Somebody at Sony stayed up all night inventing that line of reasoning. Mine started to die after a few years of use, and I found out it was due to poor construction. To Sony's credit, they used big copper heat sinks on some of the power devices, including a pretty important regulator. It was screwed tightly to the heat sink which was held to the circuit board with only one of its legs soldered as anchor. With heat cycling, the heat sink would expand and contract a lot, and it eventually broke one of the leads on the regulator off its plastic case. The regulator was only $2 at the time, but the tight placement of parts around it forced me to remove a couple of them just to get to the broken regulator. After I replaced it, I soldered both legs of that heat sink to the board so that problem doesn't happen again. But a few years after that, I started to hear hissing noises from one of the channels that would grow in loudness until it ended with a pop. Then it would sound normal for a while before repeating. Then the repeat cycles became shorter and shorter, but it was too hard to diagnose. So I gave up on it. Interestingly, the STR-V55 I bought the year before is still working.
I did not expect such a long story, thanks for telling your personal experience. You aren't gonna believe what other receiver I found here that I'm gonna do a video on soon. Lol
I have the same player and it also lost its ability to read the SACD layer. There is a calibration procedure that will restore it.
Dude, the stones sacds in the plastic cases are regular cds. They didn't bother to remove the labeling. The stones digipaks are the only real sacds.
This is a Hybrid SACD I've tested on other players, it is a legit one. I didn't pull it from the original case, I pulled it from a paper sleeve since the case was destroyed.
I had that player for 2 or 3 years. It was fun listening to surround sound SACDs, but I didn't think the Sony sounded as good as my '90's era Harman/Kardon single CD player. The bass was not as punchy. When I bought a $250 DAC and connected it to a Mac Air PC, I heard more clarity from my CDs. Now I have a Cambridge Audio SACD/DVD/BR player which sounds much better. Sadly, SACD players that do 5.1 surround are almost extinct now. BTW, Vocalion in the UK has a good selection of '70's era quad recordings on SACD multichannel from Columbia & RCA.
It’s weird. You’d think for a tv made in 2000 they would’ve ditched RF by then
In the USA RF was still the way most people connected Cable Boxes.
@@Sonyphile really. I think the uk it was mostly gone by then not sure tho
I’d be scared to try something like this
If you do be careful, especially if you have a heart condition.
@@Sonyphile I mean not saying I have a heart condition (i don’t) but like I’d probably either damage the crt or possibly shock myself. Cause even after watching a video on how it’s done i forget things easily because i have a really bad short term memory
alo, cool monitor. I used to have a Dell Trinitron at work but my manager tossed it one day because apparently it ''wasnt needed' when a new one showed up I snagged it and talked to my manager that I could buy it. I took it home less than a week later where it is now on my desk displaying the xbox 360 marketplace for the final time :P
Hi. I also have a Sony trinitron TV. I have a PS one when I turn it on. The image on the Sony logo is also shaking. There is also a screen shake in the memory card menu. And at some points in the games. Any suggestions what it might be?
I thought maybe it was a problem in the power supply chain. The capacitors have already dried out and are not filtering properly. But the question is, which one of the hundred? A frame chip or a string transistor. I still can't figure it out...
Check out @RetroTechUSA, they do videos on CRT repairs.
This brings back memories. I have one of these still. Was my monitor with my first pc. Mine was black and had two vga inputs with a selector so I could connect two pc's to one monitor.
