There are dozens of videos like this who do nothing but reading the rules ! I have seen not one video where Tactics are unfolded ! Why do you place the units in the way you do ? Which unit has which task ? Why do you move the units in the way you do ? What are the agressive and what are the defensive units and their role in this battle ? What is the difference between two Commanders and their tactic cards in the game ? And why do you choose the one you chosen and not the other ? Is there no tactic at all and everything is just random fun or boringness ? Hard to believe when there are a lot of tournaments with all kind of tactics played.

its cool watching a tutorial at a venue ill, hopefully, be playing at soon. im not sure about organized play and battletech yet.

It looks like your audio is a frame or two behind your video capture. Was this captured during a live event? Could be a delay caused by the mic. Audio has a slight echo, you can correct this with a cloth covering on the desk beneath the mic, as it is most likely picking up the echo from the hard surface. The shadows in the background are a little distracting, typically caused by two light sources, you can correct this with a back light. 🤓

Sorry. Couldn't get past 12 minutes. Had to struggle to get that far. There was absolutely no real background of what the "world" is at that time. You throw in advanced tech like the clans when the new player has NO IDEA what this game is. Should've kept it simple using inner sphere. Just really there a rookie/beginner player into it without any context. Not a bad video for those who want to reacquaint themselves with the game though. If you already knew a little about Battletech, this video was ok. But also, the masks. Jesus...

the game rules were first introduced by FASA games in 1984. the game rules are the same with each edition of the game. the only thing that changes is the technology. the tech is based upon the games history and the era the players choose to be within. simply said, tech created in the year 2500 is also available in the year 3100. however, advances have been made but nothing is obsolete. it's like having a musket (1700), a bolt action (1850) and an assault rifle (1960). nothing is obsolete, but clearly there have been advances in tech. as for Battletech, while it's in the 5th edition of the game, all that is changed is the timeline, which has advanced. due to the storyline, tech has evolved, but the rules of the game are the same. the RPG Mechwarrior has had four incarnations. the most recent is called "Destiny". each edition of Mechwarrior has used a different rules structure. personally, I found the 2nd ed Mechwarrior to be the most directly compatible to Battletech. for someone new to this game. this vid is good for anyone that has already become familiar with the rules, but wants to see the game played. however, this is not a good vid to learn how to play the game. they make too many assumptions that the viewer knows what they are talking about.

I think if you are making a 'Learn to Play' video you need to have a very basic script set out in a logical order. I was so confused by 5 minutes in that I stopped listening and wrote this comment. Mini wargaming does really top notch Learn to play videos on warhammer because they're not playing an actual game, they are just explaining the game.

Also check Catalyst Game Labs store. There are some free maps. What I did is that I printed the last 8 pages of the PDF as 11x17 inch on cardboard and then used scotch magic tape to put the maps together. I also followed instruction videos at "Battletech fan" channel to install Mechwarrior 2 games. Everything you need is in the description of the videos. Mechwarrior 2 has lots of mechs and a mech lab. There you can familiarize with Battletech tech in a first person simulator. The games are full of adrenaline but graphics aged. But if you imagine it is a sim of miniatures on a diorama, things will be fine. I also know parents who are using Battletech to keep school kids sharp in math. Battletech makes kids to strategize and math is required to have fun. Search a video "why Battletech could be very useful for education". This will blow your mind.
