Sound here is mostly animal communication which goes beyond sexual grandeur. Sounds are language from the syncophony of the Species, which, also, relates to social behaviors like warnings, food successes, general location, behavioral focus, greetings, or social inegration. Basically I agree with David, yet underlying the sexual selection are many other contributions of these Species languages which provide group variables for herding, social variables as danger, joy, pain or fear, comfort or authority for protection, distinct mother and young patterns, various familial distinctions which contribute to individualization and very important bonding sequences. I personally witnessed a calf elk birth, and when a female came by to investigate the newcomer to the herd nearby, the calf's mother quickly and aggressively chased the other female off. So with many Species like bottlenose dolphins, the language is very complex, indeed.
David Attenborough- The worlds teacher ❤️

Nature of is always great respect within ourselves as you walk some will join you throughout your walk and feeling and smile comes within your heart, eyes 👀 and awareness of their present environment ❤
Natral Soundtracks are what is missng from these docs; we don't your music
Sir David is indeed a national treasure. Many nights his soothing voice led the way to a peaceful sleep for my daughter.
27:19 singing fish...🤯
Wonderful documentary that shows animals I have never seen before.
I feel bad that at his age David is so concerned about the climate, we love him but turn deaf ears to his warnings. 😢
As we turn deaf ears to your ignorance
Wenn man diese Naturfilme sieht, wird einem klar das die Natur das Absolute ist... 🎈
Feel sorry for David that he thinks bird song is only for establishing territory or attracting a mate. He must think that only human beings are capable of singing for joy.
I love this man! So beautiful in his older years.....still so vital and interested in life. And he is now 98.....blessings to him. Namaste'
You might have to stand in line. Lol 🥰
I would love an autograph

For a video about sound, the audio is terrible! Can't hear Attenborough with that annoingly LOUD soundtrack.
lol but it’s the sound that’s the topic. 😊
Wonderful! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the wonderful images and sounds and fascinating narrative in this video! And HAPPY 98th Birthday in four days on May 8th dear David Attenborough! We appreciate you so much!
Ja, ganz genau! 🎈😊
Sobhane Allah ❤️💕💖 سبحان الله العظيم الذي لا اله الا هو الذي خلق فابدع واذهل العقول والقلوب
There’s a tremendous amount of life for us to be grateful for …
But are you?
Mr. D. is a world treasure! 😊
It's Sir David Attenborough. He's more than earned our respect.
Man Made Climate Change is a LIE. Oh David ....
And then some are so clever as to say there is no Creator. One who created in the finest detail. One day I shall see him face to face. He spoke and it was! It boggles the mind to look at the detail He created each living creature. So complex and yet so undeniably beautiful. ❤
❤❤❤
Sobhane Allah

Ya that's an oldie but a goodie. Thanks for posting.
Why did every prey species develop horns tusks or antlers for the males to fight each other, and none of them ever developed anything for fighting off wolves or bears or lions?
Because God wanted a chase not a fight all the time.
They do use them against predators, mainly by intimidation, but there are often cases where predators are injured or killed. But I think it's a constant arms race between predators and prey and a balance of what works well enough most of the time against what is taxing to produce and carry around. It's one thing to have enough equipment to battle a rival male with similar strength, tactics and equipment for breeding rights, but completely another to fend off potentially a pack or pride of predators. They only have to be able to survive enough to reproduce in enough numbers to keep going, and that's what they're generally able to do, so there's not enough pressure for them to have to take on more intense and costly protection, because what they're doing is working well enough. Predators also tend to prefer to target the more vulnerable, so the young, old, injured, fatigued or less heavily armed, and generally fleeing is the first response, it's possibly more efficient and less risky to flee than to fight, and fleeing might tend to make it more obvious who's more vulnerable. I think it's just a fine balance of a lot of factors.
@@kg6801 Amen to that. Well said. Thanks. 🥰
I like the last segment... You could start a new reality show... "Insect lab hookups" now on bbc4
