Iowa Panfishing
Приєднався 4 лис 2021
Tony has been fishing for almost 50 years and he likes nothing better than catching a bunch of panfish.
This channel is here to encourage folks to get out to their local lakes and other waterways (for Tony, they are in Eastern Iowa) and catch the most plentiful and easiest to catch fish--the panfish (bluegill, crappie, etc.). Oh, Tony doesn't mind at all catching bigger fish like bass and catfish (you'll see that here, too), but there's just something about watching a bobber dive under the water. "Got 'em!"
Bobber fishing with worms or jigs is a simple way to fish and, as far as Tony's concerned, the best way to introduce young people to the joyful and relaxing sport of fishing.
When Tony isn't fishing for fish he's fishing for souls. See what that means over at Tony's other channel: ua-cam.com/users/TheLawman104featured

in 50 plus years of fishing(Illinois) Ive never experienced an angler going out of their way not to crowd a spot. I'm literally amazed
How long before make new worms
When do I change the soil and bedding and how many times do I feed the worms?
How much worms do you get after everything?
Shalom Brother! Thank you for the respect for God's creation...and the great tip. I hooked a small bluegill the other day...the hook didn't go deep..I did have to work to get the hook out, and the fish died immediately. I was devastated...nearly cried. I like to fish but I truly want to let them live at the end of the day. It was a life God created and I ended it. I appreciate your hints to help us be kind.
Glad to serve!
Be careful with those bins; I looked on line at their warning which said not for consumables or fabric.
Thank you. I use them for worms only.
great job
Thanks for sharing
Way to go, man. The Lord provides the fish and the stick and fishing was one of His favourite activities. 🙂👏🙏📖🇨🇦
Going out to find a stick right now.
OMG why didn't I ever see this before? This is so awesome!!! I had a really nice 2lb bluegill today that swallowed my hook and I had to take it home because I knew it wouldn't survive because I had to cut my line since it swallowed it. If I had watched this before, I would've thrown it back since it's spawning season right now. This will save so much in the future. Thanks a ton!!
Thought it was weird how you included your religious beliefs in a fishing video lol (and stated them as absolute truth), but good information regardless. Considering subscription
Everything I do, I do for the glory of Christ. This video on my fishing channel explains why: ua-cam.com/video/v32G1RP71F8/v-deo.html
@@iowapanfishing6835 I'm not religious, but I respect it. Some of us need it.
Very nice video and great job out there! You had some outstanding catches! incredible day of fishing! Appreciate you sharing this and for carrying us along! Thank you sir!
As always, your encouragement is appreciated, David! 🙂
Awesome fish! Congrats on hitting 1k subscribers 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, brother! 🙂
Just came across this channel and will be watching for more. We are always looking for new places to kayak, not to mention a fun hookset session. It’s good to see more people in Iowa providing content.
Welcome aboard, Josh! 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS on surpassing the 1k mark 👏👏👏👏
Thank you, dear sister. :-) And thanks for your help in getting us there!
Isn't hooking a fish in the tail illegal if you keep it??
1. But for designated areas, snagging is legal in Iowa. 2. In this case the snagging was unintentional. I was fishing for crappie, with a 1/32 oz jig. The fish hit the jig and then must have got tail-hooked when it turned away. 3. I was on a private pond.
Man that is gigantic!
23.75 lbs; 37.25”
What kind is it?
Grass Carp
How big was it
23.75 lb, 37.25”
Good lord whata beauty!! What kind of rig u usin to catch that hog?
I was jig fishing for crappie, with a 1/32 oz jig head on 4lb test. It swiped at the jig and turned, which resulted in me booking it in the tail.
Good catch. Don't ever lose the enthusiasm!
Thanks! :-)
Next week he'll let us know what it was ... or the line broke...
Full video is linked to the short.
Is it a bluegill ?

Subbed!
Thank, Holli! :-)
You can't even go fishing without putting down your phone. This is what we get...
Umm. It’s not a phone. And yet you watched. :-)
take it easy chief
@@iowapanfishing6835 Everyone's blocking you kid. You had a video of water where you said there might be a fish and then that was it.... Is there a way that you can imagine that video being any worse?
look at what he's using to fish with real quick...
Awesome catch!
Thanks!
Thank you!
gud vîd
Thanks.
Great video and new subscriber. I love to find videos of those fishing around Muscatine and the QC. If you are ever over in Muscatine again, try out 155th just before the Cedar River. I caught some pike and nice bass in there. Heard there are crappie as well, but haven't caught any yet. Private ponds are great if you can get access. I go to a friend's by Wild Cat Den occasionally and it is a lot of fun, but trying to branch out to more places this year.
Thanks for the tip! And welcome aboard, Keith! 🙂

I’m used to 10 inch bluegills and 12.5 inch shellcrackers lol
In what area of the country do you fish?
@@iowapanfishing6835 Oklahoma
I'd love to find a hole down here in Polk with crappie like that. Just got my son his first fish at 7 years old this past weekend at a local pond. :) Love your vids.
Congrats on getting your son his first fish! #Memories
Let me see if I can help with that. :-) If I come up with something, I'll get back to you.
Now that was an awesome day of fishing! That place has some very nice bluegill and crappie in it! I hope you get back there and catch some of the giants! Appreciate you sharing this! I really enjoyed the video! Hope all is well!
Thanks, David!! 😊
Thanks, David.
Nice content!! New subscriber 👍🏻
Welcome aboard! 🙂
Informative video. Thanks.
Glad you found it useful, Dennis. 🙂
I've actually used it before, but I didn't know about the twirling technique. Usually, I try to simply back it out, but sometimes it gets caught again, and I have to play with it a little to get it out. I'm definitely going to try that.
Great!
New subscriber, great tip, thank you!!!
Welcome aboard! 🙂
Lake name?
Pride Lake, Scott County Park, Eldridge, Iowa
Good to see the fishing pick up for the year, and good to see you taking kids fishing, always makes it funner.
Thanks, Ken! :-)
president xt on a ultralight? were you the one that broke into my car......
Umm. Nope. I don't need to steal fishing gear. :-)
Good to see you back Tony. Congrats on the fish
Thanks 👍
Nice fish, gentlemen! Congrats on the new PB, Same!
Sam did a great job! 🙂
Nice video and was fun to watch him catch his PB! That was great! Overall, you guys caught a lot of fish. Good job and thank you for another nice adventure!
It's been a while. Hoping to get back on the water more often and make some more videos. Thanks, David!
Good lookin crappie Sam! You have more luck on the windblown side of the lakes Tony?
Hi, Scott. I do find more fish when fishing on the windblown shoreline. The reason being, the fish follow the food sources being blown into shore.
@@iowapanfishing6835 I thought it might also be warmer water as well?
The rapala xrap size 04 is a great little bait and I catch everything on it largemouth, crappie, bluegill, white bass and yellow bass. It is not a big fish bait but it catches tons of fish depending on conditions. Fish it on a 6’6”-7’ rod In ul to L action with 6# braid to a 6-8# fluoro leader. They are expensive little baits ranging from 10-12$ depending on where you find them and they can be hard to find. Be sure to store them carefully and they will last you well into the 500+ fish range. Light twitches on the rod tip and pauses in between. You won’t be disappointed in these baits but be careful cause the little treble hooks are very sharp.
Thanks for the tip! :-)
:-)
Lk1...hello brother, salam sehat slalu, begitu banyak ikan di location hingga jadi betah mancingnya..👍
Yep. The two ponds have good fish populations.
:-)
That’d be a nice lunch all them decent sized crappie
How’d it hold up?
IT held up well. Saw new growth and the project saved me a few buck on worms. :-)
They just stocked lake of the hills at west lake with trout last week would love to see you fish it and catch some!
Sounds good!
I'm in Waterloo and have never met anyone that's scared of cows. Lol great vid
